Very sturdy, but can be tricky to install. Single person installation is doable if you take your time. Instructions are a bit lacking due to translation issues, but are adequate enough to get you in the right direction. Would recommend having a tape measure handy to ensure proper alignment on the top as well as equal spacing of the bar overhangs. The instructions provided are a complete waste. The video on the web site is almost as bad. I read reviews of people having problems with these. However, they are easily installed. First, don't remove the screws. Just loosen them to the max. Then install the ends to the bar and place on the roof. Align the bar where you want it and remove the bar assembly. Now tighten the ends to the bar. Some say they had trouble with the rubber insert. It's a little long, but that is good as it will probably shrink over time. Even the rubber on each end and use a flat blade screwdriver to tuck into the ends while installing the end caps. The keys are pretty, but not needed as a flat blade screwdriver works just fine. The mfg says not to install the bars over the removable roof panels, but thats ok if you don't remove the panels while the bars are installed. Check the bottom of the Amazon page for photos of the crossbars over the removable tops. Carefully snap the covers on and your done. The covers easily come off for storage of the bars when not wanted. I must admit the bars enhance my Jeeps looks. Update! I lashed several things to the crossbars on a long trip. When I returned I discovered that the rubber inserts don't provide any protection. The black coating on the crossbars had worn off exposing bare metal. Had to touch up with flat black spray paint. But I still like them. Just be prepared to touch them up after use. ... show more

good quality ez to install the clamp system works on a wedge design . you can feel the bolt bottom out . it is tight plenty tight........ the bad part is the rubber top strip is hollow and ressess in to the beam making it usless .. i will be ordering some rubber belting to attach to the top of the beams. the rubber is to help keep the load from shifting its a must ... show more

Initial impressions of these crossbars were great, but quickly faded for a number of reasons. The hardware that the bars use is extremely cheap. For example, the bolts that tighten the bars to the roof gutters thread into brass threads, which completely strip when tightened down to spec. This renders the bars useless as they will not clamp to the roof gutters. Even when I was able to mount the bars to the roof without stripping these threads, the bars move considerably and make a tremendous amount of squeaking and rattling noises. Their movement has left deep scratches and gouges in my roof, which I've detailed in my photos. These bars have caused considerable damage to my Wrangler and are not worth considering. Snailfly has sent a total of 6 replacement feet, all of which have had the same points of failure. They refuse to provide any refund despite their products inherent faults. Look elsewhere or risk damaging your Wrangler and wasting your money. ... show more

I bought Snailfly because it looks just like the Mopar, has keys and is rated 15lb (165lb) more than the others, including the Mopar, for $100+- less than the Mopar. Reviews about even with the Mopar. Before I had a chance to send back the first one, the replacement showed up. A little threaded aluminum chip stripped out when trying to tighten to spec. Did it again with the replacement. This is where it gets interesting. So I take another part from the set to send back and reassemble more carefully. THE DIRECTIONS SNAILFLY SENDS ARE A COPY FROM THE MOPAR WEB. That might be why they're incomplete. And seemingly, WRONG! Clues; The Allenwrench and the capheads is 5mm not 4. Bigger better, right? Not when you try to torque it. Directions say 3.5Nm (25'lb). WRONG. You'll strip that chip! If you're using a hex socket like I did, leave the HFT Torque wrench in the tool chest. When tightening, do it like all you got is (or just use the) allen wrench that came with the set. If your Jeep has a nice matching color roof, throw a beach towel across the top so as not to scratch the paint while jostling the bar around. The directions look like the crossbars should be assembled from the factory and all YOU have to do is stick it on and tighten the end caps to the rain gutter. WRONG. First you assemble the "Tower" to the "Crossbar". Then put it on the roof, set Towers in rain gutters to desired distance, tighten enough to hold in place (evenly on both sides of course), set the crossbars even on both ends, get a good measurement and write all your spacing down for future use. Remove the crossbar assembly, lay upside down on flat surface and gently tighten Towers to Crossbar to your measurement. Now reinstall on Jeep and tighten the gutter part. Repeat for other end of top. (front/rear). Now those locking caps that make it seem better than the Mopar. At least it looks like it needs a key, (a false sense of security is better than none, eh?) a flat screwdriver was fine on mine. I discovered this when I used parts from the set I hadn't sent back yet to replace the stripped cap when my KEY got stuck. I stripped 2 with KEY issues. So I swapped parts around till all 4 ends worked smoothly, with a screwdriver. Everyone should have a screwdriver in their Jeep anyways. MY SPACING ( I don't have a rack to line up to yet, but use the Mopar directions if you want. At least the pictures help some.) FRONT: Tower; 3 1/4" from end of gutter. I think I like it. Prętry good and solid grips. Make sure you loosen all screws , measure, slide it correctly. Do not cut rubber insert, just squeeze it before close plastic cups.
