Here are some considerations for people who are shopping for a back massage cushion. First, some explanations about the differences between "1D", "2D", "3D" vs. "4D" massage chairs and cushions: The massage nodes of a "1D" (i.e., one-dimensional) massage cushion pad can travel only vertically up and down. The nodes cannot move sideways. A 1D massage cushion is commonly called a "rolling massager". The nodes of a "2D" massage pad can move up, down, AND sideways. So, the nodes can travel in "two dimensions", vertically and horizontally. The nodes of a "3D" massager can move up, down, and sideway; in addition, the nodes can push forward (press harder and further into your back and muscles) or pull backward, i.e., the nodes give a sense of "depth" when applying massages. The nodes of a "4D" massager can do all of above AND change/vary massaging speed; the nodes can speed up or slow down during massages, i.e., they have a "time" factor. The prices of 1D, 2D vs. 3D massage cushion pads are very comparable. Rolling, 2D and 3D massagers cost about the same prices. 4D pads are still very expensive and cost about $100 more. So, for the same price, I recommend buying a 3D massager over a 1D or 2D one. At the time of writing this review, there are only TWO shiatsu massage cushions on Amazon at the $100 price range that are 3D, (which also covers rolling and 2D,) and has a better than 4-star overall user rating. This is one of the only two. IMO, that should help narrow down your choices if you are looking for the best bang for the buck in this particular price range. I had bought another back massage cushion, a "rolling" back masssager, from Amazon before I found out about the different "dimensional" features. Then, as I was sitting, getting a massage from that other massager and surfing the internet, I read about and found out about the 2D, 3D and 4D stuff, (ah, the irony.) I quickly returned that other massager to Amazon and bought this one instead, and this one definitely feel better than the last one with the 3D feature turned on. There are lots of rolling massage cushions on Amazon that sell for similar prices, so watch out! Should you decide to buy this or the other 2D/3D massage cushion, you should NOT pay extra for the 2-year protection plan from Asurion - because Snailax already offers a 2-year warranty for this product that covers pretty much the same things, and the two plans overlap. That should save you about $8. (Many other massage pads cost about the same price but offer only a 1-year warranty, so you might want to pay extra for an extra year of extended protection for those massager.)

I ordered this Snailax Shiatsu Massage Seat Cushion after having to return a defunct massager from a DIFFERENT company. I wish I would have gone with Snailax to begin with- it would have saved me a few days of pain and tension (not to mention frustration!). I absolutely LOVE this thing! It gets in deep to massage out those unreachable muscles in under my shoulder blades, which is where I've had the most problems this last year or so. It effectively sits in any chair in my house, and is easy to move and utilize no matter what room I'm in. The heated massage heads adds a bit of extra oomph and helps relax my tight muscles and relieve pain. Word to the wise- I will say I was disappointed when I couldn't figure out how to adjust the width of the massage heads- at first. I watched a video at the bottom of Amazon's product page for this massager, and THEN figured out you need to push the rolling button repeatedly to adjust the width. I didn't see that anywhere in the instruction booklet, so I'm thankful for the poster who uploaded the video review and explaining it- that was absolutely a must-have for me, and once adjusted it has been amazing.

OK so I've been reading a lot of reviews but they're either biased or not helpful at all! Here's what I truly think about the unit, So I'm 5ft4 the unit goes down enough on the lower back and very high on upper back to my surprise... Way past my shoulders actually! Although you do have the option of moving the nodes in or out which is a much welcome feature when it does your shoulders and goes up the nodes go way too far apart and it's not getting in the right spot unless I lean in one direction. The heat feature sounds like a good feature on paper but it doesn't heat much even with the back flap taken off. The 2d and 3d settings are quite effective but I didn't really felt a huge difference between the 2 intensity mode. As for the rolling mode it does surprisingly feel reaaallly nice on the back. The spot feature is also nice. So overall it's a nice unit, it's built pretty well qualitywise nothing to complain about. it's got some disadvantages but all and all it truly gives you a nice massage.

This thing is a junk trinket made by some generic manufacturer that everyone sells under different brand names for different prices. If your idea of a "massage" sensation is a child rolling a toy car gently across your back.....then you would be left wishing this had more power. Because it doesn't even feel like that. The Sharper Image Smartsense Shiatsu sells on Amazon for $139. It is worth that price. There is a huge difference. Completely different mechanism and roller system. The next best one after that is the Osim uJolly. That one is as good / better than the back of a full sized massage chair. If you have $400 to spend on it, get it. It's worth it. Even blows hot air for heat. I've tried them all. The Sharper Image Smartsense and Osim uJolly are the only portable massagers like this that are worth buying. Snailax, Comfier, RENPHO..... these are all generic brand selling the same junk massagers on Amazon. They all come in the exact same box, use the same mechanics, and have the same controllers for each model. The only difference is the sticker and the price.
