I dont know about longevity for the Pit, I've used it a few times and its worked flawlessly. I will suggest that if your looking to burn primarily wood I would probably look for a slightly deeper option. But Man O Man does this thing burn pellets like no other. I own a Solo Mesa and a Solo Yukon and this pit is by far as good or even better as they are. It's a good size for a few people but will not fit groups larger than 4 as my personal recommendation. Easy to clean up. We also have a small short table we set it on becasue its only 12 inches high. Lastly as a suggestion I would not buy the pellets online....too expensive for the size you get. Go to your local hardware or tractor supply and grab a 40lb bag for 6 bucks! And as always make sure the surface you place it on has a burn proof cover on it if it's not grass or Pavement. We bought the medium sized fire pit and used it twice during our camping trip. It worked well with the Pellets - just had to add them in time to have a continues flame. We also bought small sized oak firewood packaged for ceramic chimney pits and they worked well. We used it for the obligatory marchmellow procedure and the kids loved it. Cleaning of the stainless steel was easy - just brushed it off and used a garden house. Ready for the next time. ... show more

Nice portable smokeless fire pit. Got it for my camping trips. Well made, easy to set up and easy to use. When packed in It's bag, it's not to big to pack away. I got the smaller one (11 inch) you will need to cut your wood smaller (6-8 inches) to fit into the fire pit but it still does a nice flame and puts off a good amount of heat. ... show more

I'm pretty impressed with this fire pit, especially for the price. It is very portable (I mainly use it for camping), it makes a very impressive fire, and using wood pellets is just so darned easy. No more carrying wood and an axe and kindling around with me. Wood pellets are very cheap (I bought a 40# bag, enough for many fires, at Sam's Club for about $14), and they take up far less space in my vehicle than wood does. The media could not be loaded. I purchased the large 21” stainless version. I could have easily gone to the smaller one for my needs but didn’t realize just how hot this would burn. If you fill this with 2” of pellets as instructed, it takes about 10 minutes after lighting to get smokeless and about 20 minutes before the secondary burn starts. When that secondary burn starts, you get legitimate 36” high flames. That 2” of pellets (5-10lbs maybe) will burn for about 45 minutes start to finish, but there is another hour of hot coals and VERY hot stainless steel emitting radiant heat. If you wanted to burn this pot for an evening with friends, say four hours of just beer and bullish!t, and you just throw a. Up of pellets on there every ten minutes or so…add too much at once and it will smoke like crazy. After that 4 hours, you could easily have gone through 25-30 pounds of pellets if not more. In my area, at a ranch and farm supply store, heat pellets are $7 per 40 pounds, so not to crazy. I just order a stainless wok stand I am going to try in the burn pit so that I can just use a smaller outside edges to have a smaller, more efficient fire. ... show more

Great fire pit for the money. Interior diameter is 16 inches for the 21 inch model. This unit is easily transported and I can envision using it at home and camping. We had a great time cooking dinner and making s’mores. Definitely a good buy.

The size is on the small size , but for the money it is a nice little portable fire pit. As for the size yes they did specify the sizes available , but did not think i needed to spend the additional money for the large size. If you are a big set by the fire type then definitely get the larger size. The unit itself is very well made and very sturdy and works well, please understand you will go thru a lot of "pellets" when burning but that is expected and also I tried small pieces of wood (twigs and small branches) and burnt very well. After cooled down put the unit in its provided caring bag and fit fine, and I also wanted to see if I could include some wood pellets and got a gallon size zip bag and filled with pellets and put them inside the burner and zipped closed NICE! Over all I feel it was a good buy for myself and wife (and she liked it) and she is cold during 70 degree temps! ... show more
