Right off the bat I’ll say that if you order too much, you’ll get hit with a restocking fee to return unused rolls. Just be aware. The insulation itself is quite good considering how thin it is. I placed it in the roof (aluminum side facing up) and saw a solid 15 degree F drop in temperature coming off the roof. That’s pretty good. Just be aware that because this is not a rigid product, you’ll have to find a way to install it properly. My recommendation is to roll it out and staple it to wooden studs. ... show more

Got this insulation to cover a couple of metal sectioned garage doors. Prior to the insulation, got a reading of 125F on the inside of the door during morning sun. The insulation is lightweight, 5mm thick with foil on one side & I chose white for the other side. The foil side faces towards the metal door to create the air gap and reflect the heat back to the metal door. I chose this size as it was a better value than two of the 24" wide rolls for two doors. The insulation was very easy to cut with scissors & easy to mark for sizing. The material is light enough that one person can easily apply it. The reading now on the inside of the door with insulation is about 86F. That's a huge drop & the garage is definitely cooler. FYI, you'll want to make sure you get the right double-side tape (I chose 3M VHB 5952 foam double sided tape as it adheres to textured surfaces better & creates a strong bond in high temps) and be sure to clean the surfaces where you'll be applying the tape well for best adhesion. I used a 50/50 mix of water & isopropyl alcohol & cleaned the surfaces twice with a kitchen sponge. Very happy with this choice & a cooler garage. ... show more

I love this stuff. I don't have a very scientific way of measuring its insulating property, but you can tell the shiny side is bouncing heat back at you. Just 5mm seems like it made a big difference. I used this to insulate the inside of a brick foundation wall and also function as a vapor barrier. The below-grade part of the wall transmits moisture from the ground, which I wanted to block, and the above-grade part of the wall gets cold in winter and condenses moisture from the house. I think this material will do both things and we are hoping it really reduces our moisture/mold problem. I'm thinking of using the leftovers to insulate appliances (freezer, fridge, water heater). Anyway, I wanted to say how easy this stuff is to work with. It has enough body that it was easy to measure and cut with the roll standing up (to avoid dust getting on it by touching the floor), and to lay it into place, is easy to cut with ordinary shears (you can just push the shears along it), lightweight enough that I'm not worried about it falling off the wall. It also has a bit of stretch to it, just enough that it can accommodate the unevenness of the wall and be pressed closely in to the butyl tape we used to mount it (to which it stuck quite convincingly). I sealed two panels together using foil tape on the shiny side. The polyethylene membrane on the white side is quite thin, but overall I am confident this material will work as an effective enough vapor barrier for the purpose at hand. The high temp picture is without the insulation. The 92.3 is with it. The final picture is the temperature with heat reflective curtains in addition to this insulation. Obviously the temperature drop with both combined is tremendously impressive. I live in an old building and my patio windows are dual pane however being that they are so old, they do not insulate in the least. I highly recommend this product also in addition to some magnetic thermal insulated curtains. An absolute must for southern summers. ... show more
