I applied this to the bottom of my floor joists as part of a project to reduce "stack effect" which causes moist air from the crawlspace to be drawn up into the living space of the house, negatively effecting indoor air quality and other things. I was skeptical that this product would have decent insulation efficiency at only 5 mm thick but it really does better than fiberglass insulation, I used it to wrap my 8” metal ducts under my house (remember to not wrap the duct tightly cause a air gap is crucial for high efficiency) It’s also nice that you have no fiberglass itch or respiration issues in a 48” roll it applies quickly with less tape with one roll I covered 52’ including the distribution box. ... show more

    • Seam tape doesn't stick to polypropylene white side. Peels off in 2 weeks.

Be careful what seam tape is used on polypropylene white side. Aluminum tape stuck for 2 weeks then peeled off. Tyvec tape works much better, but some has peeled too after months on. Got red seam tape with acrylic pressure glue to seal seams but don't know how long tape seals will hold behind the drywall. Once tape seal fails, insulation effectiveness is ruined... water vapor & cold/hot air will infiltrate right around the loose edges. Aluminum tape holds great on the aluminum foil side. Next time, if ever, I'll buy with aluminum foil on both sides. Or, I will roll out so aluminum foil side is exposed and taped (might hold longer). Be careful removing tape... the poly film and aluminum foil film sticks to the tap and peels the film off of the foam layer. I couldn't find any information/advice from the ad or the seller/manufacturer what type seam tape to use. ... show more

I purchased it to eliminate condensation on air tank in my well water system. Initially insulation was taped on vertical seam where insulation sheet overlapped on the tank. However, tape did not hold well and I had to use bungee cord. Insulation is very easy to cut. My condensation problem was eliminated. Remaining insulation was used on hot water heater as extra insulation. Worked excellent there as well. This product had one of the highest R value.
