Do some research on the potential security issues with smart outlets before purchasing these outlets. Start by searching 'smart outlet security issues'. I tried these because they were a much cheaper option to what I have been using. The main difference with these devices is that they connect directly to your WiFi. That can potentially open your network to being hacked. I can't say for certain that these outlets are a problem, but there were enough red flags to make me concerned. Since they need direct access to your router, you will need to provide the password to the Smart Life app that controls them. This was the first sign that made me uncomfortable since the app was clearly written by someone whose primary language was not English. And I have never had to provide my password for any other smart outlet I have connected to my system. The first outlet connected successfully and seemed to work. When I tried to connect the second outlet, I saw that the app had retained my password, the second sign that caused concern. I went ahead and tried to install the second outlet and got an error message and the install failed. After it failed the lights on the outlet began to flash in an odd way (like the light on your computer does when it is processing something). That was the third sign that concerned me so I immediately unplugged the outlet and hopped on the internet to research this type of outlet. It didn't take long to find information about the potential security issues of all these types of devices. After that I decided that, aside from the failed install, these were not worth the risk they present to the security of your network. Buyer beware.

Like most folks I tried using the Smart Life app to get these to work, that's not the correct one, here is what I did. Step 1: Go to the app store and download Cloud Intelligence Step 2: Create and account Step 3: Go to your Amazon Alexa app, and select More (bottom right hand corner) Step 4: Select Skills & Games Step 5: Click on the "Search" function (it's the magnifying glass at the top of the screen between Skills & Games and EN) Step 6: Search for Cloud Intelligence, select the skill (should be the first one to come up) Step 7: Enable the skill and link your Alexa account to your Cloud Intelligence account Step 8: Go back to your Cloud Intelligence app click on the big plus sign (top right corner of the screen) Step 9: Select the big blue icon that says "Add Manually" (bottom of the screen) Step 10: Select Socket (Wi-Fi) and follow all the instructions. Step 11: You socket should be added and you can go in and change the name of it. Step 12: Go back to your Amazon Alexa app and select "Devices" and it should automatically discover your new plug! Step 13: Mission Complete!

Compared with other brands, it doesn't waste much time on setup. - Plug it (make sure it blinks rapidly and your wifi is like 2.4) - Open the app, register and sign in - Add device and follow the app instruction to continue Beware and make sure you go setting up smart life at first. My brother told me, he can't sync with google and then i found that he didn't setup smart life app! My words are, 1 of plugs I met setting up slower than others but never saw it cannot sync with Alexa. And my opinion if you want to remote control this product, app setup is necessary to configure whether you owned echo or google. The biggest function is, i can control my home devices anytime, anywhere and with any network. This doesn't work with 5.0g because you will be unable to setup and use. If your wifi is dual band just like mine, you should go changing wireless channel to 2.4g. Disadvantages: - 2 sockets will block if you want to plug together in standard outlet. It is mine. Size of it is 1.96 in. - Just can use to switch on/off and functions on App. It doesn't work on controlling metrics like dimming your lights. But it still does function as it promises. When i leave the area, i share it to ifttt and my lights turn off automatically. So far, very happy with it..

The media could not be loaded. I have been using these for a few weeks now and they work great. I have them set on a few of my lamps that are hard to reach when I need to turn them off. Now all I do is tell alexa to turn them off from my bedroom. The only downside I can see is that there is only room for 1 per outlet because they are alittle bigger then a regular plug.
