You do have to use a separate app (we used Cloud Intelligence) to set up the plugs, but from that point it links easily with Alexa. I honestly find our Amazon brand plug more difficult to set up when it randomly stops responding because there’s an annoying QR code I have to crawl under the table to scan every time. I have three sets of these - they work all over the house Setup can be a process, but once you get them setup, they work great with the Alexa app. My only complaint, anytime you change passwords, networks, or wifi routers, you have to manually delete each device & remap it back to the app individually. There is no way to reset the wifi in the app for all devices. There is also a discrepancy in instructions - the app shows to press the on/off switch multiple times, the only way to reset the device is to hold the power button down for 5 seconds. ... show more

I used all my other plugs and put this one away for future use, It was never programmed, I took it out to use it for a small fountain and have not been able to make it work, I believe I ended up with a dud plug on my order.

    • Great Budget Smart Plugs - could use that final refinement
these work exactly how you'd want them to. plug them in, setup the Cloud Intelligence app to control them, link the skill in the Alexa app, now you have voice activated smart switches. my only gripe is on the software side. only one device can be logged into the Cloud Intelligence app at any one time. ex. I can be logged into it on my phone to manually control the switches, but if my wife logs into the app on her phone, not only does she have to go through the whole Email + Password routine, it also logs me out of the app on my phone. so to share the "app" is not possible. besides that, and the app UI looking lackluster while trying to be modern, the whole process just works. i ended up burning out one of the switches by running a tiny space heater on it. while the switch still turn on and off, it doesnt output any power anymore. i'll definitely buy more of these in the future, since they're cheap functional knock offs compared to the name-brand plugs like Philips Hue and the like ... show more

I would have loved to give it 5 stars, but the setup was a nightmare! I contacted Amazon support and they were useless. It's difficult when the support speaks English, sort of, but cannot understand it. After talking with four so-called "techs", and each having me repeat the steps the others already had me do, it was apparent that they all had the same script and nobody knew how to connect the device. The issue is the app you need, and I figured this out on my own, as tech support as useless, to make the initial connection is not the correct app to use. "Cloud Intelligence" is what you want to use. After connecting through this app, it was straightforward to link to Alexa. ... show more

    • Pretty straightforward smart plugs
These smart plugs work well, overall. They're a bit big--they block adjacent outlets. I'd prefer something that allows me to use every outlet, since my house is not overly well-supplied with outlets. Set up and creating routines in the app were straightforward and it linked to Alexa without any issues. The wired thing is that sometimes one or two of the plugs don't turn off when scheduled (though they all always turn on just fine), so I have to remember to check in the app every night to make sure the lights are actually off (I use them for my aquarium lights). ... show more
