Between juggling bags, kids, and groceries, having my front door recognize my fingerprint feels like some futuristic magic. The fingerprint sensor works fast and hasn’t failed me yet. It even recognizes my finger when it’s slightly damp from rain, which honestly surprised me. Setup was way easier than I expected. I’m not super handy, but I installed it in under 20 minutes with just a screwdriver and the app. The instructions were clear, and connecting it to the gateway for remote access was painless. Now I can unlock the door from anywhere or set temporary codes when someone needs to stop by. I gave a timed code to a friend who was dropping off a package while I was at work—worked like a charm. Battery life seems great so far (still going strong after a couple months), and I like that I can check battery levels from the app. I haven’t had to use the emergency USB-C backup yet, but I love that it’s there just in case. The peace of mind is the real win. The auto-lock kicks in right after I leave, and the anti-peeping feature is a nice touch when someone’s standing nearby.     • Smart, Simple, and Surprisingly Tough – A Lock That Just Gets It Done
This smart lock is a solid mix of convenience, security, and common sense. Installation was quick—everything fit the door as expected, no extra drilling or digging through your junk drawer for mystery screws. The app connected without a fight, and the setup was smooth from start to finish. It feels sturdy, operates cleanly, and doesn’t make you jump through hoops to get it working. Depending on the door's age you are replacing a lock; older doors have a smaller bore for the latch assembly. Be prepared to enlarge that hole – it is not always as easy as it appears and not nearly as easy as drilling a new hole. Butterfly bits can work if you take it in small steps enlarging the hole. Now, about the fingerprint reader—here’s where things get more real. Not everyone’s fingerprint ridges are deep enough for these scanners to pick up, and this lock isn’t immune to that. My wife is a perfect example—her tiny fingers are almost as smooth as glass, and the scanner often fails when she tries to use it. Soft skin, fine ridges, or just naturally light prints? This reader struggles. For folks with hands that have been through years of manual work or the classic “sausage fingers,” results are pretty consistent. That said, it does offer other solid ways to get in. The keypad is reliable, the app works well for remote access or creating guest codes, and the lock even includes a couple of keys for backup. Plus, if the battery ever dies, there’s a USB-C port for emergency juice, which is a great touch. The voice prompts that announce “locked” or “unlocked” are surprisingly helpful, especially if you're visually impaired or just distracted wrangling kids or groceries. And the auto-lock feature is one of those things you didn’t know you needed until it saves you from forgetting to secure the door. In the end, despite the fingerprint hiccup with smoother skin types, this is still a very capable lock for the price.     • Easy install and ability to run with no app.
I have two of these, but not on purpose. I got two differnt listings and they were priced differently but they turned out to be exactly the same make and model number of lock. Pretty much all these loks regardless of vendor use the same SmartLife android app. The app does not make setup any easier and is not necessary. When it comes to security there is never a necessity to be online. But the app works okay. There is also a gateway product that sells for just about $35 USD that can give you online visibility if you need it. I did not get the gateway so I cannot vouch for its security and functionality. A couple of nitpiks, the codes must be a minimum of 6 numbers and I have been informed by my family that is just too many numbers to input when you need to use the bathroom, so I whished it was more like a pin and only 4 digits. I have not ried the fingerprint reader since they are easily fooled in most of these devices. But, I will be testing that in the next few days after the objections about the security code length by my family. Mounting was pretty simple. I you have ever installed a deadbolt in a door, this is exactly the same procedure. just a screwdriver in a door with a predrilled hole. They do provide a template if you need to drill out your own hole. While not the most stylish, it isn't bad. The lockset itself in non-obtrusive and will fit most styles of doors. The mechanism for locking/unlocking the door is relatively fast, but it will not force the door locked or open if the strikeplate is not fully aligned with the deadbolt. So far battery life is good, but it does take a lot of batteries, eight to be exact. I found that it would work with four batteries but I assume the motor really needs eight to function properly. ... show more
