This can get above the crowd if needed. Very functional and well built. Comes with spikes and even a cell phone holder. Not the best for hiking but not a deal breaker as it’s a little large when folded up.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have purchased some other small rig stuff, so I tried this when I needed a new tripod. The ball head takes some getting used to and is not a perfect system, it does allow more angles for the camera. I took a star off because after 6 months of use, the screws for the legs will randomly back out and then you have a floppy leg to fix the tension on; applying some loctite or similar thread locking compound fixes the problem but takes the use of the tripod away while it dries. Portable: Shrinks up pretty well, fits in bag fairly nicely. With one caveat, when you fold it up to store in the bag, the feet hit the bottom of the ball head flat where you attach your camera mount; you have to spin the ball head to a particular spot and unscrew the monopod leg a half turn to get the legs to fold flat; also, you cannot store this in the bag with any accessory on top of the camera, maybe for the best so no deduction just a warning. Lightweight: feels fairly light, had the wind blow it over once, knocked it over twice. the weight hook on the bottom is easy to remove to reverse the head pole (also easy to misplace if you don't put it right back after flipping it).

We’ve utilized this tripod for a while now and it’s still as functional today as when we unboxed it. I cannot say that about other tripods with a similar price point. It’s multifunctional design helps on nearly early shoot. Great value and durable design.

This Smallrig tripod is one of the best that I've purchased. It's lightweight, very strong and the ball head is absolutely great. It stays where you lock it. Cudo's to Smallrig. My first order arrived missing the mounting plates. Wrote to Amazon/Smallrig and within a few days they sent a 2nd tripod (no charge). I have used this tripod with my Nikon D4, d7000 and Z6II. Unless its very, very windy out there is no camera shake even with a big telephoto lens.. Well worth the price...

I purchased the SmallRig tripod with expectations of quality and reliability, as I have owned several SmallRig products in the past. Unfortunately, this tripod has been a letdown. Despite minimal usage over the past year and a half, it has failed to meet basic standards of sturdiness and functionality. One positive aspect is its height, which I found to be ideal for my needs. However, this is overshadowed by the significant stability issues. Every time I use it, I encounter problems; it doesn’t stand up properly and feels fragile. For a product that is not frequently used, I expected far better durability and performance. Based on my experience, I would advise potential buyers to consider other options. While it might look good on paper, the tripod fails to deliver in practical usage. It’s disheartening to see a reputable brand like SmallRig miss the mark on such a crucial aspect of their product. In conclusion, this tripod is not a wise investment. There are better options available that offer reliable stability and build quality.
