  • Milkshakes, slushies, and more Milkshakes, slushies, and more
Received this unit and after some initial confusion I have to say it's one of the coolest kitchen gadgets I own. Start-up is pretty simple and I had a soda slushi in less than 20 minutes of opening the box. But read the owners manual first and save yourself some time because you can't just add milk or diet soda, everything requires some sugar or alcohol to help assist in freezing. Definitely worth checking out if you like entertaining or making fun deserts and beverages. ... show more

  • Beautifully crafted machine
Beautifully crafted machine. Works really fast. Definitely be sure to check the seal for correct placement in the back as shown in the instruction booklet. The recipe guide is a huge help! It’s quiet which is a plus. We used for adult slushies during game day. The cleaning feature is a huge bonus and much appreciated for easy clean up. 10/10 would recommend and purchase again! Perfect addition to our hosting collection. ... show more

  • Nice quality frozen drink machine
This is a fun addition to any home bar; it is not a professional frozen drink machine by any means, even though it says that on the box. It is great for the home though, especially if you have kids. Its very easy to use out of the box but you need to read the instructions, and pay attention to the in-depth ones, not just the quick start guide. Remember you have to have sugar to make it freeze well, no diet drinks in this machine! We love the frozen cola or root beer slushies the best. You can get the jugs of daiquiri mix at the store and pour it in and have strawberry daiquiris within an hour. I would definitely put the alcohol in the cup and NOT in the machine. You have to do a lot of adjustment to get it the right consistency and the alcohol tends to make it too watery. Its better that way though, because you can still have alcohol/non-alcoholic with the same batch. The downside of this is the size of the vessel; if you're using it for just the family you have the perfect amount, but if you're using for a party you need to remember to slowly add your liquid as you dispense so that you maintain thickness of your frozen drink. It takes about 45 minutes for your first batch to freeze up to have a good slushie consistency and if you let it run low you need to wait for it to freeze up again. Horrible to have to wait if you're 12. Its not noisey at all, at least not a bothersome kind of noise. For under $300 I think its a good value for the money because its not as messy as using a blender and you get more product that using a blender. ... show more

  • Love my new Slushi maker! Love my new Slushi maker!
One of those things you never know you needed and now you can't live without it. It makes frozen slushies with or without alcohol, frappes and milkshakes. I love frozen Margarita's and now I can have them anytime at home! Great conversation piece, too. We just used it for a birthday party and everyone loved it! Compact enough to leave it on the counter. It's a new favorite at our house 😃 ... show more

  • User friendly User friendly
Our Culvani drink machine arrived quickly. We had a great time making all kinds of drinks with it. The instructions were easy to understand and the machine is very user friendly. We decided to make the Blue Hawaiian from the recipe book. We found that making the slushy setting and adding alcohol to each person’s drink AFTER dispensing the slushy from the machine works better so the slushy can get thicker. We are really enjoying coming with our own recipes now too. ... show more

So far I’ve made spiked mango margaritas, frozen lemonade, and cherry slushies. All were delicious. The machine is easy to use and cleanup is a breeze. The unit is solid and quiet. This is great for both kids and adults!

  • Fun iced drinks at home
I have used two of these home slushy makers so far, and overall I think this one is pretty good but has some issues to call out. First, the basics. This unit has a plastic tank that comes completely off the base. The tank includes a seal along the back that seals the liquids in. There is a stainless steel drum that does the actual freezing, and an electric motor that turns an agitator/auger that spins to control ice crystal formation and keep everything stirred up. It arrived double box with a sturdy outer box and a sturdy but nicely printed inner box. Everything arrived in perfect condition. The machine sets up easily and I started by both hand washing everything and running a cleaning cycle with warm soapy water. I then rinsed everything and started trying the most basic slushy recipe: Add a couple cans of (non-diet) soda and let the machine turn it into a slushy. It worked and it's actually pretty effortless to turn soda, fruit juice, or similar into a slushy. It takes half an hour or more to chill down. I'd start this going an hour early if I was expecting guests or anything like that. I have been trying different recipes since that first batch, and different modes, and it can sometimes be tricky to get what you are hoping to get. My attempts at dairy drinks have been the least successful. The milkshake attempts have wound up thinner than I would prefer for a milkshake. A couple of my tries have resulted in drinks that were clearly frozen but actually almost felt almost warm because they had turned into whipped cream in the machine. Going a bit off the normal script, I tried using protein powder to make frozen protein drinks. That worked fairly well and by adding different flavored syrups I was able to make some interesting protein shakes that were a welcome variation from the usual "mix in a cup" powdered drinks. I did try a couple of alcohol slushies and I think if you want to have margaritas (or similar) on tap this machine will give you that. They recommend a maximum of 10% alcohol for spiked slushies. If I've done my math right that means you could have about 375ml or 12 ounces of 80 proof liquor in a 1.5 liter batch, which would equal 4-6 strong drinks for most people. So...if the plan is margarita parties, either limit the party size or be prepared to make multiple batches. Cleaning is a bit of a pain. It isn't the end of the world but to get it really clean after doing a milk-based drink I needed to empty the machine, flush it with water, run a cleaning cycle with soapy water, flush it a few more times, then disassemble and actually clean everything. I ran into two issues with the machine after trying it a few times. The first is that the gasket that seals the back of the tank to the machine can move slightly out of place when you take the tank off and put it back on. If it does, any liquid you add to the tank will drain out past the seal and onto your counter. There isn't a way to really see if it is in the right place so you need to check the seal before you install the tank, and then add some water to see if it is really sealed. Drain the water out and load the machine with your beverage base. The second is that there is a condensation tray under the tank that catches drips from any condensation that forms on the outside of the tank, as well as filling up if the seal at the back leaks. That tray can't be pulled out without first removing the tank. That's probably fine normally but if you have a lot of condensation I'd like to be able to empty the tray periodically. Beyond that, it seems like a well thought out machine. It would be great for entertaining or to make special treats every so often. I don't think it's easy enough to keep clean for most people to use this as a daily-use machine, but if your family really loves slushies it could be a daily use machine for you. Other details: It isn't especially loud but you can hear it running. It holds 1-2 liters of liquid depending on the mode you want to use, which is enough for maybe 4 "solo cup" size drinks. If you are making cocktails in smaller glasses you can definitely stretch that out. ... show more
