Super sturdy plastic. Pretty. My 3 year old boy loves it and has not broken it yet, but he is generally gentle and has not broken/bent any of his slinkies. It would be easier to use on stairs if it was a little longer, but no points off for that.

As a child-at-heart, I have to start by saying that these are not as much fun as the original metal slinky. However, as a father of small children, I have to acknowledge that these are very much more resilient and durable than metal slinkies. My kids have twisted and tangled this several times already--once detangled,they went right back to their normal shape and function. Speaking of function, these CAN be walked down the stairs--juet not quite as well as the original metal. Their larger size would make them perfect for a shallow stairs, but they can walk down a typical stair fairly well. ... show more

This slinky is going strong since 2021, and we love it. It barely ever tangles and if it does it's not a lot, the colors are bright and fun, it walks down the stairs like a champ and it stretches really far without losing its boing. It's also so big! The kids adore it. I'll probably buy another so they can race them down the stairs ... show more
