EDIT- October 2023 This mattress is still comfortable. It’s in a spare room and my guests love it. Great longevity for a cheap mattress! EDIT- December 29, 2018 This mattress has still held up. I no longer sleep on it nightly, is it’s in my guest room. But when guests stay there, they ask what kind of mattress it is. I only bought a new mattress because I fell victim to the marketing machine (Purple), and have had people tell me the mattress in my spare room (this Sleep Innovations) is better than my Purple mattress. Half the price, has lasted this long, no issues with it. Thank you Slwwp Innovations! EDIT- March 13, 2017 Still using this mattress, and still no problems. Holding up strong. I vaccum'd the mattress due to a dog jumping on it when it was bare, and accidentally "sucked up" some threads. That's the first wear and tear I've seen on this mattress in years- loose threads. Still firm and comfortable. I do like firm mattresses, so I never had an issue with the firmness. The foam hasn't weakened, still supports. No issues. Buy this mattress! EDIT- February 21, 2016 This damn mattress is still amazing. I've had it for quite some time, as seen by my review edits. The mattress is still very comfortable, it has not had any indents that never came out, it's still firm and doesn't over heat. This may have been the best mattress I ever purchased, and for the best price. I was worried that buying a memory foam mattress for under $500 would be cheap quality and not comfortable. I was always following the adage of "you get what you pay for." But, this mattress is absolutely amazing! The mattress is pretty firm. It's my first memory foam mattress, and I kind of expected to sink into the mattress. You don't completely sink it. It's firm, it doesn't sleep hot, and it didn't smell too bad when I first opened it. Took about a full day to take it's shape. I'm not sure if the cooling gel makes it any cooler, but it doesn't sleep hot. Very comfortable mattress. I'm not sure about the longevity as the mattress is only about two months old. But so far, there are no issues with the quality of this mattress. Don't be scared at the cheap price tag. It's a quality product. EDIT FEB 26, 2015- Mattress is still amazing. It hasn't lost any of its comfort at all, and I'm going on close to a year with it. Well worth every penny.

Edit: someone below me in their review stated these memory foam mattresses are not meant to be packaged like they are when you order online. I would like to add that I have in the past purchased a memory foam mattress at a local serta dealer. It was packaged like that as well and they are a good well known company. So that should not be a downfall for sleep innovations. ORIGINAL POST: I will post another updated review in a month or so. We purchased the king size 12 inch mattress. Let me start by saying how absolutely hesitant I was. Like you, probably why you are reading all these reviews. So let me help your decision. I even looked at reviews from other websites before finally making a decision. So far, this seems like the best purchase we could have made. It came shipped in a box and vacuum sealed. It was expected after all the research I had done so no surpises. :) we got it upstairs to our room and opened it to immediately start the air out process. There was no smell. Other people stated theirs had a smell. Ours did not. At first I was worried because we had a huge dent obviously from where the king mattress had to be folded in half before being sealed into the plastic. This dent was normal and no longer there after a couple hours. Our corners were formed fine. No dents or lumps and bumps after it aired. We had no issues that some people had. Ok now...my definition of firm and other people's definition is obviously not the same. I seen one person say this matters was like a brick. Haha. No. Our old mattress was like a brick. This new mattress is like heaven. :) it is certainly medium firm as stated and an excellent choice of you are on the slightly heavier side according to your scale. my husband suffers from severe back pain and had his best sleep in quite a while on this mattress. My husband I have a combined weight of about 400 lbs. No sinking occurs. The edge control is not PERFECT.. You need to remember this is a foam matters and you absolutely can not expect perfected edge control. I did however lay on the edge to get a feel of it and I had no sagging or slipping or sliding off. However if I sit on the edge it isn't what you may be used to with a coil bed however I don't slip off and it keeps me up good on the bed. We purchased a "utopia" plush and quilted bed topper that is also a waterproof protectector.(amazing purchase and so soft and fluffy. That is another review in itself though. But a good recommendation to accompany this mattress) don't hesitate on this purchase. I will update again in a month or so. But for now...we are more than pleased and it exceeded my expectations. I have a picture after we added the topper/waterproof protector. When I wash protector next time I will take a picture of mattress without it and edit this review so you can see. For now...stop reading this review and buy the mattress. :)

*Updated reivew* 1/29/16 So I've had this mattress for a while longer, and I have to say it really is not good for side sleepers. This is at no fault of the company of course since its very comfortable when I lay on my back. I purchased this bed because I like good back support, but primarily sleep on my sides. I saw that some other reviews said that they easily sleep on their sides on this bed - I have to say not me. When I sleep on my sides, my upper back is like dead in the morning. It is really too firm of a bed to be a predominate side sleeper: there is not enough give in the mattress that allows you to sink in when sleeping on your side, so it ends up just smooshing your shoulder and ribs into your body all night. I was waking up with too much pain and have foregone this bed. Again - this is not the fault of the manufacturer. It's my fault. I should've recognized that his bed is a a bed made for those who predominately or always sleep on their backs or stomachs. Any side sleeping is painful for me. I ended up sleeping on the brentwood 13" which is a medium bed so that I can sleep on my side and back. *************************** I have really enjoyed using this mattress. As many have said its FIRM but SOFT in the sense that it's very supportive but there is no pain (pressure point pain.) Its best for back and stomach sleepers. I've never been a stomach sleeper, but this bed allows me to sleep on my stomach. I don't believe this is a great bed for side sleepers. I find that my ribs hurt a bit in the morning and my upper back isnt super happy when I sleep on my side. However, I don't have any hip pain in the morning as side sleepers generally can have. I also purchased the brentwood 'medium' feel mattress 13 inch and I have to say the sleep innovations one is much better. Its way more supportive and helps encourage me to sleep in proper position (on my back.) After sleeping on the sleep innovations bed, I find that the brentwood bed is almost like a marshmallow! I didn't feel this way at first since I got the brentwood bed first and thought it was pretty firm (i think medium is really a great description. It's right in the middle of firm and soft). However, now that I've slept on the sleep innovations bed, the brentwood bed feels too soft... I guess it just depends on what your body is accustomed to. Although this bed makes my ribs a bit achey when I sleep on my side, overall, it is a mattress I would prefer over any other mattress I've owned or slept in - including some $2.5k mattresses. I think it's worth the purchase. The only issue I had is that it arrived folded in the middle, and the divots created have not gone away. the matttress sinks in the middle (causing me to roll into the middle) while the edges are lifted up. I have contacted amazon about a replacement, and, if the replacement seems better, then I will change my review to a 5-star review. I've attached pictures of the 'bow' affect due to their shipping method. OR maybe I just got a defective one.

I was looking for a firm mattress, was going to add a topper, for daily use. This mattress is described as medium to firm, I found it firm but it could have just been due to me being use to my old mattress that was worn in. It is firm with several inches of softer foam on top. Also, most mattresses will give you a month+ to try a new mattress because it can take time for your body to get use to a new one. Especially if you're old one was well worn in, if you're increasing firmness, or if you have body stiffness or soreness (of any kind, arthritis or exercise). I think when we buy a new mattress we forget these things because we buy new ones so infrequently. I followed the instructions, it looked like it shaped quickly but I left it for the full recommended time. The first time I laid on it it felt amazing. So supportive with my body sinking in a little into the top inches of softness. I slept on it for a few days as is and while I loved the support it was giving to my spine, sleeping on my side hurt *my* shoulders a little. You'll know a mattress is too firm if you wake up with soreness at your shoulders, hips... and maybe knees depending on how you sleep. The quickest way to fix this can be with adding an extra comforter or blanket under you. You could even fold up a towel under the sore part if you're on a tight budget or want to see if it will fix the problem. I planned for this and used a cotton topper (about the thickness of a cheap comforter). It made this absolutely a dream for me. I just needed to sink in another inch for it to be like sleeping on a loving cloud. It's like crawling into a hug at night and I wake up feeling well rested and comforted from the night. The best sleep I've possibly ever had. You might not need a topper, your body could work well with the way it is. I needed a topper because I like climbing into a cloud, but really need the firm base to support my back. I think the mattress on its own can do that for many. Considering it comes with shipping, is firm (Maybe medium firm for you), it's a great price! It's worth 3-4xs this to me.

My wife and I needed to replace our camper mattress this spring. We took a chance on this brand as it had good reviews and a low price. We got the 8" one. We had to shorten the mattress a few inches to fit and my wife shortened the cover to match. This past summer we were surprised at how comfortable the mattress was and how quickly we fell asleep. Forward to this fall, we wanted to replace our air bed at home and instead of a new air bed costing a couple thousand dollars we decided to try this bed in a 12" thickness. A lot of posts on Amazon ask about returns. Yes I'm sure it would be nearly impossible to get it back in the box it came in, but the price is so reasonable we thought we would take that chance. We're so glad we did. On our air bed my wife ran her side at 90 and I had mine at 70. I'm around 6ft and 180lbs and she is smaller. After a few months we find we both fall asleep faster, wake up less through the night and love this bed. The price is fantastic and the comfort is great.

One thing that is really important to mention that I will just say first and foremost; we went through about a week long 'transition' period when we began sleeping on this thing, waking up with aches and pains, which are now completely gone. Keep in mind that foam is very different than a regular spring mattress, and your body will have to adjust to it! If you are not adjusting within two weeks, then it's probably not the best choice for you! Before ordering this thing, we slept on literally one of the mattresses that began the whole mattress revolution. Literally sleeping on a rock. Woke up painful and groggy every morning, I couldn't sleep on it for long and often slept on the couch to avoid it! We read a lot of the reviews, the good and the bad and ultimately went for it! This is quite literally one of the softest beds I've ever slept on, and I'm the kind of person who won't sleep in a bed unless I sink into it and build a nest! This is a VERY comfortable mattress! We sink down into it almost immediately and sleep so much better! It's been about four weeks and it still looks and feels brand new, no indentations whatsoever that I can tell. The only way to wake up uncomfortable on this bed is to sleep for like 20 straight hours (it was for science I swear!)! We let is sit out to air back up for two days, and there was VERY little offensive smell to it. The only time I could smell it was putting my face into it! When it arrived, the packaging was almost coming open, it was simply packed in a cardboard box; I was assuming it would be nicely packaged inside a box of its own, inside another cardboard box for shipping; probably only concerns the California King size. It still arrived unharmed and in a timely order! As comfortable as it is alone, we will be investing in a Tempurpedic topper for it, just to give it a bit more plush. But overall a very good investment!! As the reviews reflect, this may only be great for certain people, so be sure to do sufficient research if you're looking into buying any mattress online!

I waited 48 hours for this mattress to fully expand. This bed is extremely soft. There is no edge support and it doesn't seem to be firming up at all. The reason why I purchased this bed is because my best friend bought the exact same one a few years ago in a full size. I even asked her to come and lay on this bed......it feels nothing like her bed. Hers is firmer than this one is. Mine is like lying on a giant marshmallow! the only difference between hers and mine is hers in the 10inch but mine is the 12inch. The Amazon description says this bed is the same except for the 2 inch base difference. It doesn't say anything about a varying firmness due to height. This bed sinks under my cats feet so I know it's not just me. I weigh 120lbs and I'm 5'5. My butt sinks in this bed. Also, it does smell. Every time I pull the sheets back to get into my new bed, the new smell is there. It's also hot and not cool as described. I'm slim to athletic build and I tend to hold a lot of heat when I sleep. When I wake up to use the bathroom the heat is still there from when I got out of bed 5 minutes ago. while this is okay in the wintertime the summer months are going to be a problem. I don't really want to keep a bed that doesn't live up to it's description. All of the basic functions of this mattress are not accurate at all. I also feel like the reviews from 8 years ago are very misleading....this doesn't sound like the same mattress at all if people who weigh 200lbs and up found it to be supportive. Update April 2022: Still the worst bed ever. Have a pain running down the side of my right thigh when I get out of bed every morning. I maybe get 5 hours of sleep tops but it's a very shallow sort of sleep. Because of the poor sleep I've developed anxiety which has built up to an increasingly scary level. Like, i can't make a decision, I can't remember to do the simple stuff, I can't remember names, and my memory is basically Turing to mush because of this toxic bed I'm still sleeping on. Ashley bought another bed off of Amazon it was also a memory foam bad but it was way too hard and they used to glue to adhere the two layers to each other and the glue made me sick so I had to go back to this stupid thing. Amazon you need to stop selling toxic mattresses. Please let people choose from a variety of mattresses that won't make them sick or ill. Yesterday I ordered an Eco Terra mattress and extra long twin because it was the least expensive of all of their mattresses. I'm so freaked out to buy another mattress that I'm refusing to buy the size I actually need because if it's a crappy mattress I don't want to have to try to dispose of a queen mattress on my own. Keep your fingers crossed that the new one works for me it's gone since containing wool cotton latex and springs and I'm hoping I'll be able to breathe at night and hoping I'll be able to sleep through the night for the first time since December 2021.

My old mattress was shot and very uncomfortable. On a friend's recommendation, I ordered the Shiloh 12" medium firm. I've had it a week now, and as my heading says, this thing is absolutely incredible! It's a PERFECT combination of soft and firm. I tend to be a side sleeper, and this thing is wonderful for that. I used to wake up with shoulder pain in my right shoulder if I spent the entire night on my right side. Now? No problem at all. The one thing I have found is that I don't need nearly as many pillows with this mattress. I always slept with 4 -- a contour memory foam pillow that works well with my CPAP and side sleeping, a pretty bulky non-memory foam pillow, and two thinner pillows. Now I really only need the memory foam pillow unless I'm using all of them to prop up my back when I'm reading in bed. If I try to use more than 1 pillow to sleep I find that my neck and bag get severely torqued out of position and it's very uncomfortable. This mattress is even good for back sleeping, which is something I've not done in many years, primarily because my lower back wouldn't be properly supported and I'd wake up all kinds of sore. It also didn't work with my sleep apnea. Now, though, my back is very nicely supported, and with the CPAP I don't need to worry about the apnea as much. I'm overweight, and I was worried that the Shiloh wouldn't support me properly. Thankfully that's not an issue. It can be a little bit of a challenge to roll over once I've sunk down into it, but it's not too terrible, and it's not really that difficult to get out of. Even better, my dog really seems to like it, as well, as she's sleeping on the end of the bed a lot more than normal. I don't think she liked my old mattress, either. Obviously I don't know how well this will hold up over time, especially to my weight, but even if it doesn't it was more than inexpensive enough to make replacing it relatively pain free. HIGHLY recommend this mattress, and thank Sleep Innovations for their product.
