  • This thing is awesome.
I originally ordered a slash3 to try and was very impressed with the sound quality as well as the build quality. If you only need a bluetooth connection into an RCA input, save yourself $50 and stop there. I have a bit more complex setup at my desk and after speaking with customer service at Doblue they recommended the slash6 instead. These units are basically identical when it comes to sound quality. The difference with the 6 is the versatility of setups you can achieve. I have multiple devices at my desk I like to use, a desktop computer as well as a few tablets. Bluetooth audio is convenient if I want to watch or listen to something from the tablets. My computer is apple and so it's limited to sending the AAC codec, while one tablet is android and can send LDAC. Don't get me wrong, AAC still sounds good, but yes, there is a difference with LDAC and I can absolutely hear it - so in my case I wanted the option to run the computer wired. Normally from the laptop I run a dragonfly cobalt DAC into my stereo, and the wired setup is top notch. With the slash 6, you get two wired options: I have the option of running the output from the dragonfly cobalt DAC into the pass through analog input of the slash 6, meaning the dragonfly would still be the DAC used by the laptop, leaving bluetooth on the slash6 open for other devices when needed- with the benefit that all devices are on the some input on my stereo so I don't have to change inputs for different devices. Or, I can use the slash 6 as a wired DAC to get the best from it from the laptop - which also leaves bluetooth open for other devices to connect to. In both of these setups, the computer remains wired, leaving an available bluetooth connection for other devices to be connected at the same time. You cannot play from multiple devices at the same time, however whatever device is sending signal will get automatically prioritized by the slash6 so that you do not have to disconnect or connect devices, or change input selection on your stereo. The 6 has optical out for those that want to use that instead of analog RCA output. Sound quality is excellent, more dynamic and forward in the mids than other bluetooth receivers I've tried as well. ... show more

  • Incredible little DAC!
The SLASH6 is an impressive piece of audio kit. I wanted to reduce my desk audio footprint, and the SLASH6 attaching directly to the back of an amp with dual RCA seemed ideal (there's no higher quality cable than no cable), but it offers so much more than tiny size. After a quick USB C connection to my MacBook (no drivers), it appeared in my output sources by name, and selecting it made my speakers noticeably harder to pinpoint, yet all the instruments moreso; the soundstage is wide and deep, and the bass is balanced yet punchy, and zero noise/feedback at low volume. Downstream of this I have a Rega Brio R and Dynaudio Excite X12 speakers, which are precise, detailed, and totally unforgiving, yet the SLASH6, even after a few months of use, makes me pause to enjoy the music's detail. Throw piano, strings, rock, EDM, or games at it; super versatile. Support is fantastic. I had an issue with mine briefly, and support answered my emails same day. Brilliant performance, size, & support! Grab it, plug it, play it. ... show more

  • Very Impressive
Stumbled upon YouTube review of this item and caught my interests. I have been simplifying my setup for a while and I was looking for a good quality BT device for my headphone amp. Customer service was fantastic. I contacted them directly via their website and received a response in 24 hrs and after that almost instantaneous communications via emails. No complaints there. Product was arrived in a nice stylish box which I am using it as a decorative item. All items were packaged well and it came with adapters for RCA inputs in case R and L on your amp are further apart than the affixed RCA males of Slash 6. Bluetooth connection via LDAC has been flawless. My phone found Slash 6 instantly and no drop outs and latency. Sound is very subjective however in my case, very clean, good resolution, and sufficient layering and depth. Certainly not congested. Only way I can put it is that it sounds natural. Only thing is that its output voltage seems a bit high for my system and I don't know whether there is a feature to lower it. Instead of following its direction on the manual, i just put my phone's BT output to 50% and work with volume for my taste. If i put 100% out of my phone, i can barely turn my headphone amp's volume pass 9. But based on the price performance wise I dont think it is a big issue. ... show more

  • You could have had a perfect 10 on a scale of 5
Virtually all of the reviews I have perused have been folks who did not actually purchase the Slash6 dac but provided their "honest" assessment. I was dismayed by those paid observers because they all viewed this dac from a Bluetooth add-on perspective. I bought this miniature dac to improve my sound performance and still provide a modicum of convenience. Boy does it deliver!!! My Focal Elegia headphones are no longer bass deficient nor shouty. Most importantly...My Iotavx amp has a decent DAC and Bluetooth extender. This tiny Bluetooth DAC has totally transformed my system. My soundstage is bigger, bassier, more balanced and agile. Problem is all the info suggested a proprietary optical cable and a RCA cable included. I have plenty rca cables but that optical cable is proprietary and not readily available. So you got me in what matters...THE SOUND! But you missed with poor judgement on offering the optical cable in the box. ... show more

  • Brilliant Gadget! Perfect for use with the new Sony NW-A307/A306 Walkman
I wanted to stream my Sony NW-A307 (features hi-res Bluetooth) to my car's audio system. The car's system has an AudioControl DM-608 DSP processor that feeds the amplifiers. The DM-608 accepts digital in via coax or toslink optical. The DM-608 also has a Bluetooth module, but it does not support the newer hi-res Bluetooth 5.0+ codecs :-( ... SLASH6 to the rescue! I connected the Slash6 optical out to the DM-608 optical in and gave the SLASH6 power via the USB-C port. I could now wirelessly pair the NW-A307 with the SLASH6 and stream hi-res music to the DM-608 using the SLASH6 as the conduit. Perfect! ...and, the device is out of sight! No wires!! (well, I may have to plug power for the Sony NW-A307 to keep it charged). In the case of the car, I am not using the DAC in the SLASH6. But as the device is portable, I can take this to my boat which has auxiliary RCAs in and a nearby USB port. So I can then stream hi-res audio into the boat's audio system. This is a very VERSATILE device. I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • Awesome Bluetooth DAC! Awesome Bluetooth DAC!
I bought the DoBlue Slash 6 months ago so I've had ample time to put it through its paces before writing this review. Bottom line, this DAC offers surprisingly great sound quality and reliable connectivity. I've also grown to appreciate it's very small footprint and it's versatility. It has really performed well beaming Tidal music tracks to my Moon I5 integrated amp, as an LDAC BT upgrade for my Marshall Stanmore and Tufton BT speakers, as a BT addon to my Numark DJ mixer and, as a MAC OS DAC powering my Grado PS500 and OppO PM3 cans. In these applications, it has performed flawlessly powered by a small USB backup battery pack to increase its portability as it uses very little power. I did have a minor issue with the fact that the very high quality assessory RCA cable (referenced as Cable #1) is not included with the DAC and must be purchased seperately from DoBlue. Imho, a high quality RCA cable is indispensable for properly connecting this DAC to legacy equipment with RCA inputs that are greater than 14mm apart. That aside, i found this DAC to be a revelation bringing BT performance even closer to wired performance and I'm very satisfied with this purchase. Highly recommended! ... show more
