  • Solid Upgrade From Old Sonos Speakers
Style: 1- Speaker Color: Black
Great sounding speaker. We upgraded from some original Sonos Play speakers. While they were still doing a great job we wanted the benefit of stereo sound since a number of our speakers are the only speaker in the room. There's a noticeably better sound to these speakers than the original Play speakers. I do wish they had traditional buttons instead of the touch buttons, so you don't accidentally keep changing sound levels, etc. when you're moving the speaker. One additional feature that I didn't realize they had is that you can cast to them from your iPhone which makes watching videos or listening to music from your phone a lot more fun and enjoyable. They are slightly larger than the original Play 1 speakers, but not noticeably so. I do think they look better given they're pure black or white as opposed to the two tone black/gray of the original speakers. The build quality in general is very solid. They're heavy and feel strong. The bass is solid and sound is great. You can read and watch ample reviews on their quality. The Sonos app is still frustratingly slow and confusing, but I'm hoping that will improve over time. They do get pretty loud in my opinion so you could have just one speaker playing the audio for an entire room; however, I think they work better in a dual speaker setup - i.e. both sides or two corners of a room - to get a more full, immersive experience. I have other Sonos speakers and they place nicely with all of them. All said and done, I'm glad made the jump to upgrade the speakers and plan to use my old Play 1 speakers as outdoor patio speakers. ... show more

  • Sounds great
Style: 1- Speaker Color: Black
I already have 2 Era 100's and a Sub mini in my Family room. They sound fantastic. Some times I like to sit in my Living room and read, or meditate. But I would turn the volume up in the family room so I could hear those speakers. So I decided to get a third Era 100 for my living room. I put it on a small decorative shelf. I must say it is everything I imagined it would be. When setting it up I didn't know I could turn off selected speakers. This was a unexpected plus for me. So if I am in my living room I could just have the one Era 100 speaker play and vice versa. Or I could have all three and the sub mini playing at the same time. After having the 2 Era 100's and Sub mini for a couple of months now, I had forgotten how good just 1 Era 100 speaker sound. I did notice the two Era 100's paired with the sub sound more clear and crisp than the single Era 100's. That's because the Sub mini is using the low that the Era 100's would had normally played. Great concept in sound and speakers. I just turned the treble up a little bit more in the single Era 100 to get more highs. Sounds good. It's too bad Sonos doesn't allow for multiple Sub minis connected in the same group, it would be phenomenal. I had read somewhere that it wasn't cost effective for the consumer to buy 2 Sub minis when 1 Gen 3 Sub woofer has more output than two Sub minis. I say who cares Sonos? If a consumer wants to spend their money on a second Sub mini and put in in another room in the same speaker group it's their prerogative. If that's true then their business model doesn't make since to me. Set up was a breeze too. Because I didn't use a tutorial to set this up, it took me a few minutes to figure out how to select the speaker, because at first the single Era 100 didn't play although it was connected. But the setup was a breeze. Very easy. I may get another Era 100 (this time used) and put it in my kitchen and I'll have sound throughout all of downstairs. I've been fortunate to not have problems with the app, unlike many others. I am very impressed and satisfied. ... show more

  • Almost never connects. Two won’t play together simultaneously.
Style: 1- Speaker Color: Black
Prepare to be bummed out. Speaker sounds fine. BUT you won’t hear it often as you will likely just abandon trying to listen to these because they aren’t worth the trouble. This speaker connects to my phone only sometimes at best. I bought two of these to play together. I can’t get these two to play simultaneously at all. I think I achieved that once. Actually, I can hardly even get one of these to play. My sonos app won’t just recognize these again after initially setting it up, and each time I use this I have to restart it and reintroduce it to the sonos app like it’s brand new out of the box. And I can only pair one speaker at a time. Do you want just to listen to your music when you want? You can’t just do that. You have to restart the whole process of pairing them to your sonos app. Airplay works with these maybe 1 in 10 attempts. I didn’t realize Sonos speakers could sound good yet be so useless and incapable of operating. Wow, amazingly frustrating. I have the Sonos soundbar and it’s awesome, probably because it connects directly to the tv by way of hdmi cord, so there’s no connection issues. I was going to buy the Sonos era 300’s, but thank God I didn’t waste $800 on a completely unusable yet expensive product. I’m sure they sound great if you can actually play them without wanting to smash them like the printer in the movie Office Space. I won’t buy anything wireless from Sonos again. I am truly shocked, as I thought this company made quality products. These are paper weights guys. Don’t anger yourself by purchasing these. I have spent more time trying to get these to work than actually listening to them. I’m actually getting mad writing this as it’s so absurd. I’d be annoyed with this product even if they were $35. I missed the return window messing around with these so long and because of a little procrastination on my part which is my bad. How is the Sonos brand this big and so well known for speakers, yet the product is so completely useless and defective? These should be recalled. Pay another $100 and get Homepods for pete’s sake so you don’t get a blood pressure problem fooling with this nonsense. ... show more
