The media could not be loaded. I bought this saw because I needed to get to a broken pipe behind my wall and do some plumbing repair. This is just what I needed. It is very light weight. I can easily hold it with one hand (but I use two when sawing), and it came with a single "wood" saw blade, and it was exactly wood that I needed to saw through. The 12 Volt battery didn't last very long (about 17 feet through knotty pine, which is way tougher than drywall), and the obvious solution to that is to have two or three of these batteries so that one can always be charging. And, if someone is going to be using a reciprocating saw all day every day, then I'd think they'd want a heavier saw with larger batteries. I think this is a perfect saw for the homeowner who occasionally wants to save some money be doing his or her own fixes. ... show more

Style: Reciprocating Saw w/Drill
This set is just amazing. I tried the drill head to head with the Milwaukee M12 Fuel I bought recently, both of'm on full 2.0 Ah batteries, and the results were surprising. Not just the Skil came in over the Milwaukee, a lot of times it so embarrassingly outperformed the big redhead that it made me question the whole Milwaukee thing. For example; drilling a hole into a 2X4 piece of wood with a 1" spade was done in 19 seconds by the Milwaukee and just 9 seconds for the Skil. The same thing when I tried the wider side of the wood, (the 4") the Milwaukee got it done in 53 secs vs. the Skil who did it in 32. Additionally, I had to get the Milwaukee battery on the charger first, as the Skil one lived significantly longer. On the weight, the Skil came in at 2.14 vs. 2.12 for the Milwaukee. It's a bit louder than the Mil as well as a bit bulkier, but the Skil wins your bottom line, as it is yet one of the cheapest popular 12v tools. The drill comes with a hybrid chuck, so you can insert any hex-shaped drill or driver bit without tightening the chuck, it has a strong magnet that will keep your bit from falling out. And not to forget about the one-handed recip saw. This thing cuts and you don't wanna mess with its power. I am a general contractor and in the trades I generally like to bring my 12v stuff in before the big guns as I do allot of installs cabinet work and generally tighter spaces these new skil tools especially the 12v line performs well above the tier level and price I have been using everyday all day and they hold up and perform just as good as allot of the 18v stuff I got for the price and thought well if they grow legs no big deal now they are my go-to tools first out the truck last tools in the truck ... show more

    • None of my existing Skil PowerCore batterries would fit this model
I have a set of three Skil Power Core batteries (including a high capacity one) and none would fit the pin-out of this saw. The oldest battery is about 2+ years and the newer ones is 1+ The saw itself appears to be well made. Really liked the rubberized exterior. It's heavier than a similar Ryobi reciprocating saw. Skil, at least mention to your perspective buyers that the older batteries will not work with this saw and include a simple pin-out diagram so we know. ... show more

    • It is a good tool but the 20v version is better
my 20V skill reciprocating saw was out of state and I needed one of these. Not wanting to buy two of the same tool, I opted for the 12V which was less expensive. It does get the job done but it is not near as capable as the 20V version. So, it’s a nice addition but in the long run it will not be my "go to" tool. Nice if you need something smaller and as an extra. If you were planning to buy only one of the tools, definitely by the 20V version. ... show more

It is what it is, a lightweight sawsall. Lot of vibration, not a lot of power but it’ll do the job in a pinch. It burns thru battery life real quick. For $49 tho it’s well worth it if you are on the Skil 12v platform

    • Eats batteries but a good saw
Used it to take apart pallets, used the 4Ah battery but it only lasted about 15 minutes. It's to be expected since I was working the saw very hard. It kept up. Very impressed with this saw and the line in general so far. I'm sad that it's produced in a country that hates us and is working very hard for our downfall. ... show more
