So I have a 2018 Mustang Ecoboost. Before I bought this Skar 12" box/subwoofer combo, I was running two 10" Infinity Kappa subwoofers in a sealed front firing Zenclosures box running off of a SoundQubed S1-1250 Amp. I had each of the Kappa's wired at 2 Ohms and then wired in parallel at the amp for a 1 Ohm final load at 900 Watts RMS (450 Watts RMS each). Although the bass was nice and tight it just didn't satisfy my Basshead need. I can say that after removing the sealed Zenclosures box and 10" speakers and installing the ported Skar 12" EVL box/subwoofer combo I have finally achieved the bass I needed to satisfy my addiction. When I installed this into my 2018 Mustang, it barely fit. I had to remove the rear trim panel, spare tire cover and the trunk latch...but it did fit! I literally "shoe-horned" it into my trunk. I have it firing towards the front of the car just like my 10's were and the sub has had amazing bass response from the get-go. I don't know why everybody talks about having to break this sub in. It definitely has deeper and louder bass and is able to hit lower frequencies better than my two Infinity Kappas did. I highly recommend this box. One note: The first time I had this sub playing for about 30 mins (heavy bass), I got a whiff of a "hot band-aids" electrical smell. I immediately turned the volume down. I didn't see any "magic smoke" so I didn't fry the voice coil. However, the voice coil definitely got hot. Could have been the wire insulation or glue out-gassing. Just to be safe, I turned the gain on the amp down a tad and haven't smelled anything since when playing over 30+ minutes at a time with heavy bass. BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR GAIN SETTINGS! AVOID CLIPPING AT ALL COSTS! If you do chose to purchase this sub, make sure you are running an amp that can power it! The SoundQubed S1-1250 amp (1250 Watts @ 1 Ohm) I swapped over does the job perfectly. The Skar subwoofer itself is a 2 Ohm Dual Voice Coil sub wired in parallel to 1 Ohm at the factory. The media could not be loaded. This 12" Skar EVL absolutely beats the block. I had two Infiniti Kappa Perfect 12's years ago & one of these musical masterpieces puts both of the Kappa's to shame. I will say if you are a Basshead such as myself, be prepared to spend some money because one EVL is unreal but two of these is where it's at. Also, make sure your connections are good because the vibes you get from these are too much for amateur wiring. Do yourself a favor and invest in Wire Ferrules & Bannana Terminal Converters and/or Connectors. If you do get the pair, plan on facing these diagonally toward each other because if you have a decent sized Sedan you won't be able to import these into the trunk side by side as they will likely need to be angled a bit unconventional. I have mine running on the Skar RP 2000 1D and have not had any problems other than underpowerering these WattHogg Subwoofers. This amp is ideal for one but not so much for the pair. Again, Skar EVL 12's beat your vehicle to death. Do yourself a favor and purchase this Sub! You're welcome....lol ... show more

I just replaced a dual Alpine type r 12-in subwoofer setup in a sealed box. I was experiencing a lot of clipping at higher volumes. This box with the single 12 sounds a lot cleaner and the bass sounds great I don't even realize that I have only one speaker. When I turn up my knob it doesn't clip as soon as the two 12s did. I'm powering it with a Rockville 2000 w RMS. Depending which side of the car you put it on it hits harder my girlfriend said it was too loud the other day!! And she's used to hearing my dual 12 alpines cranked up to the max. The speaker moves a lot of air but the box is heavier than expected be careful loading it into your car. Very happy with this downgrade which sounds and feels like an upgrade. I can't imagine what two of these speakers would sound like it would be Overkill in my opinion. ... show more
