Description

The Skar Audio SDR-12 D4 12" Dual 4-ohm subwoofer was engineered to dish out reliable, hard hitting, and low spectrum sound. Featuring a high flux ferrite motor, This woofer will provide extreme power handling for extended periods of time. The SDR series will quickly become a customer favorite, as it's perfect for people just entering the world of car audio all the way up to seasoned pros. The SDR-12 Dual 4-ohm 12-inch car subwoofer features a 2.5” high temperature 4-layer high temperature copper voice coil that is attached to our Skar Audio signature red spider. The surround on the SDR series is a high roll foam surround which allows the woofer to produce riveting low end bass response. The SDR series has a max power rating of 1, 200 watts and a RMS power rating of 600 watts. Sensitivity (SPL): 84.7 dB, mix: 13.5mm one-way, Fs: 32 Hz, frequency response: 22 Hz- 300 Hz, mounting depth: 7.62".

This thing punches way about its price range. It hits hard and deep with bandpass box and a 1200w amp. Absolutely absurd....and I love it. If this lasts a few years I'd buy another in a heartbeat for double what it cost.

Bought 2. Setup in 1Kw 4 ch stereo setup. 2 ch for l&R subs. 2 ch L&R mids highs. For reference music, aka old people moosak. Placed speakers in a dual L&R ported, single passed enclosure. With separate tuned section for mids tweets. The subs ring sweet and mellow on symphonies and bang Space Wizard like a champ. I wanted stereo! love the nice left right hit you get from independent subs! I cant say enough for the Skar value! I know these are value line, not the hiline powerhouse speakers.. But in a ported enclosure. Tuned, crossed and setup. They SHINE! The speakers at 250 watts each are so fricken loud you need earplugs for anymore power. But sound 100% on point NO distortion, butter FAT! Exactly like they should. Yes I can go 500each...why? No one would stay in car with me! They would hit me in anger and leave lolz! Even at half volume i get the are you serious looks . Me- Hey sorry! I may be old, but I too like it loud. He He, think I built it all for you old farts? P.S Observation on humanity! This Skar audio SDR 12-in D4 wired in parallel to 2 ohms and is 600W RMS and I'm only pushing 350 watts into it and it is so loud it hurts my ears being right behind the driver's seat in my Silverado. It was decently priced and even better when they go on sale. I used to have the IX 12-in D4 wired to 2 ohms as well and this speaker blows the other one out of the water with its deep lows and impressive loudness. Definitely worth giving it a try for a budget subwoofer it performs phenomenally. I can only imagine after the break in period. Definitely worth picking one up or two for that matter depending on your setup configuration. One is definitely plenty for me where I have it located. It shipped really quickly as well and I got it on time with my free shipping Amazon prime. Just remember to break it in respectfully. Skar audio recommends a minimum 24-hour break in. At half to low volume and at half too low power just to break them in properly. I only drive about an hour a day so it won't take me close to 24 days to break mine in but once they're broken you can crank up the wattage and the volume and they will sound amazing. I know my IX12 sounded amazing and over 2 years later still performs well. I put the IX12 in my wife's Kia forte and she loves it and it thumps really hard. My point being is if they're properly broke in they will last as any speaker should if properly broke in and properly powered with clean power. ... show more

This is one solid well made woofer. Of course it has to be in right box, but it hits low and hard. I had a bandpass box custom built for my truck and the place installed the woofer in box and wired to the amp. He had a speaker wire for each coil, so to have a 2ohm load he had to put both positive together and both negatives together ( monoblock amp ) well he hooked only one speaker wire to the amp. So only one coil was playing with a 4ohm load so my amp was pushing 300watts instead of 600watts. Unbelievable how this thing was hitting. I would have never known better but I had a wild hair jump up my ass and purchased the Alpine R series 12in. So I only played the scar on one coil for about 4 weeks. I’m very surprised the coils were not damaged. I’m sure eventually I would have damaged them but the woofer is still clean and hitting hard. For this price you can’t beat the quality, I think it would be hard to even match power of this woofer. ... show more

Well worth the price as it works on lows and intense bass. Ran prior with Skar RP 1200.1l and it blew the subs running at mid capacity. Amazon and Skar Audio took care of me. Now I am pushing four of these with a Hifonics Brutus 3k at a quarter of power and am supremely satisfied. Will purchase for future vehicles. ... show more

I installed these in a home brew, made to fit the car box for a 05 Magnum. Dodge designed the back end of these cars as a perfect home for a lot of audio equipment. Two of these SDR12's in a ported, 34Hz tuned 3.25cuft box make crisp deep move your hair bass driven at 2ohm on an old Optimus 170W stereo amp. The idea was to run the tired old amp for a while till I saved enough for a Skar monoblock. Honestly I'm debating to upgrade the amp. At 170W these subs ain't no joke. Pound you in the head and chest, mirrors are all blurry...... my wife bailed out the vehicle, couldn't take it. My son said, dad my hair is moving. It's probably pretty low on the competition dB level but in my experience so far, I get a big ol' grin every time. I had some big audio back in the day, but this is a whole new standard for me. Frequency check using my combination: they start making sound around 18-20Hz with a lot of port noise (huffing). There's a big peak in output about 30Hz with what sounds like nice linear gains till 60Hz where I quit testing. So yea, buy the speakers. Build a proper box according to the data on Skar's website and smile. ... show more

Be aware very aware of the people skar is will straight take your money and not send you your whole order i ordered four 4 subs twice and only received Three 3 they don't care about the customer i have a friend at car toys in spokane washington that will sell you L 7s for a couple bucks cheaper any size pass the word on kyle is badass give him a call i promise you won't be disappointed.!!! ... show more
