  • Must have for people without a camera crew.
As a YouTuber who films himself, this is a must-have since I'm constantly changing camera angles. It sure beats picking up the entire rig each time!

  • A great addition to my studio, the Sirui tripod dolly is changing the way I work. A great addition to my studio, the Sirui tripod dolly is changing the way I work.
I do far more still photography than video, so my review centers on that. I handhold my camera for a lot of portrait work, but sometimes I like to set the camera on a tripod, frame-up the shot and stand off to the side, talking with the subject and creating moments, while remote-firing the shutter. It’s handy to be able to effortlessly make minor changes to the camera’s location, a tripod dolly allows me to make most of those changes. More often, I’m using the dolly when shooting products or still life. I’m loving it for that. What counts the most for me is the ability the Sirui dolly gives me to quickly and safely move my tripod around the studio and the ease with which I can lock and unlock the wheels. The Sirui build quality is as I’ve come to expect from the brand; the words “sturdy” and “precision” come to mind. The dolly sports some great quality wheels that roll extremely smoothly. It is easy to adjust the length of each of the three arms for different tripod foot spacing, helped by markings on each arm, and to tighten a collar on each arm to keep it in place. It is also a simple task to secure or release the vise-like sockets for the tripod’s feet. These will accommodate a fairly wide range of foot sizes, which I find important, as the diameter of the feet on my collection of tripods varies considerably, as you can see in the attached photos of a couple of those tripod feet. Another great feature is the way the dolly is designed to allow the whole structure to fold compactly. An attached strap then holds it together and an integral handle allows for easy carrying. Moreover, Sirui provides a well-built custom bag that perfectly fits the shape of the collapsed dolly and provides a strap for easy toting. While my primary use for the dolly is to glide the tripod around the studio for photography, I’ve found that I can also do extremely smooth video moves, as long as I first make sure that the wheels are positioned to roll in the direction I wish to go. If they need to swivel to do that, moving the dolly just a few inches in that direction lines the wheels up for a smooth dolly move. I have also tried the Sirui dolly beneath a light stand and, well… it works. I haven’t yet come to the point that I feel the need to dolly my light stands around, but who knows? Maybe there’s a future for several of these guys in my studio. The Sirui Tripod Dolly is one of those pieces of grip gear that has surprised me with how valuable it has become to my work process. It has earned a 5-star rating from this photog. ... show more

  • simple to deploy and a compact carry
This comes in a very compact soft case, 17"x4", with a carry handle. So right out of the box the first big plus. It opens fast, in a couple of seconds, and can extend to its full 36" span in a few seconds more. The legs use a typical flip clamp found on tripods, and numerically marked for matching the spread on each of the three. It handles up to 33lbs of tripod/camera/light combination, and is exceptionally secure once set up. The unit feels solid. No worries of it tipping indoor, noting it is NOT meant for soft outdoor surfaces like turf. Closing it back up for packing in the included case is equally as fast. A spring pin on two of the legs is all that's needed to collapse them back in place. Quick hint: For a minute or so, I struggled with fitting the Sirui dolly back in the case. Flip the wheel on the fixed leg towards the center of the dolly and now all three wheels align for packing. It fits. The 3" rubber wheels rotate and roll easily with no slop. The wheels themselves are grippy and non-marking, safe for tile, smooth concrete, wood floors and short-nap carpets/rugs. Each has a standard foot brake, which is effective for keeping it in place. The only slow-ish part of setting this up are the threaded screw-type clamps that secure your tripod legs to the rolling base. A slide then tighten mechanism would be the single improvement I might suggest. The Sirui tripod dolly is a great assist for travel shoots or a home studio. Roll it to another location instead of picking up a tripod and attached camera which always has a chance of falling or tipping when moved. Fine-tuning the position is so much faster and safer on wheels. I highly recommend this product for photographers who do on-site shoots. It's fast to set-up, compact to carry, and secure to use. Two enthusiastic thumbs up. ... show more

  • Great Dolly for Tripods and Can be used for Light Stands, Too. Great Dolly for Tripods and Can be used for Light Stands, Too.
This is a great dolly. The wheels are the stand out feature. They glide nicely on the floor and have good locks. The dolly is made really nice and is very sturdy. I like that it collapses to a nice small size for storage and has a zippered case to keep it dust free. When you open it, the legs snap into place and hold tightly. The legs expand to fit the tripod legs and the tripod “feet” are locked in by a screw in lock on the dolly. I really enjoy using the dolly for slow video movement and for quick position changes. The movement is really determined by the levelness and smoothness of the floor, but with in camera stabilization and/or software stabilization, I’m able to get some nice moving shots. I also like that I can move the camera quickly from stationary spots by simply wheeling the assembly rather than having to pick it up. I also used the dolly with a light stand that allowed me to position the light for some stationary photos I was taking. Overall, it’s a great tool and I would recommend it. ... show more

  • No assembly required
Surprisingly, nothing had to be assembled! The tripod arrived already assembled and just needed to be taken out of the case, ready to use. What an absolute relief! The tripod is balanced and the legs can be pulled out. On the legs are tick marks to see how far I needed to pull them out and to ensure they were even when needed. The size of it is rather compact and it is not heavy, also a surprise. The wheels lock and remain still very effectively on carpet and floors. ... show more
