Heavy duty is a stretch, unless you want to break the hook or throw her out of time. but I can't complain. I used to own a large upholster shop with five full time employees. Had commercial grade with 1hp motors on table. Juki, Consew and singer. this machine will sew lighter tapestries, along with demin as long as rolled seams don't exceed a quarter inch in thickness. but for drapery, and small home projects, get one! good little machine. the only down side is the needle threader, some needle sizes it works and others not. ... show more

    • Works great on light fabrics.
This is a very economical machine for doing light fabrics, the automatic needle threader is unbleavable, it works great until you break a couple needles, it is not meant for heavy canvas. If your doing canvas and isenglass a Comercial machine may be the better way to go.

After paying so much for getting shirts and pants hemmed, I decided to get this machine and learn to do it myself. This thing is a beast and it has tackled dozens of projects and has more than paid for itself.

    • Not overjoyed with this machine.
I am not especially happy with this machine. I cannot center the needle to match the center of a presser foot so sewing any kind of straight line is a real challenge. There is a very frequent 'nesting' when starting a seam. In addition, there is often thread breaking when pulling through the threading mechanism. I have sewn on numerous machines over the last 75 years (!) and can usually adapt pretty quickly, but this one is really challenging. If I didn't have many tasks at this time I would have returned it. ... show more
