I bought this fan for the garage gym, but set it up in the living room first to get some relief from a little heat wave. On the lowest setting, this thing is STRONG. It immediately blew any loose objects off the coffee table and we had to crank up the TV volume. Trying to speak with my kids, I was often replied to with a "what?!" "Huh?" "I can't hear you!" They're teenagers, so possibly just trying to get out of speaking to their cringe mom. Thinking, maybe I accidentally put it on high, I turned the dial another notch. This thing got LOUDER and STRONGER. It's an incredibly powerful fan and cools the room down in seconds. This is going to be perfect outside and I'm really glad I bought it, however I did choose to knock it down 1 star simply because the motor on this gets really hot, and it's easily confused with the setting dial if you're just trying to blindly feel for the off switch and you close your eyes to protect from the wind on the approach. This is a great fan for moving air. There are three speeds and all three speeds push a lot of air around. I use it in a computer room that gets very hot compared to the rest of the house. I can prop this up in a window for about 30 minutes and bring the temperature down about 10 degrees. Using a decibel meter app on my phone I unscientifically measured three fans, measuring low, med, high: This Simple Deluxe fan: 77db, 79, 80 My similar metal fan: 72db, 78, 81 Honeywell HT-908: 65db, 70, 72 I like these minimal metal designs, its powerful, looks nice, and I would hope it to last, but if you want to use it like a noise machine for sleeping, I would not recommend this as its lowest volume is louder than our other fan's high setting. ... show more
