  • Very Comfortable Chair that Looks Better In Real Life Than On The Internet
Color: Grey
We bought this chair after looking at a bunch of others and deciding that the Herman Miller chairs were way out of our price range. Here are some thoughts. PROS: MATERIALS (touch) and DESIGN: Materials that you come into contact with are of a higher quality than I expected in this price range. We ordered the grey and green, and I absolutely love the way it looks. The grey mesh is beautiful and the green seat is very tasteful and well constructed. The black chairs have worn on me in terms of looks, and this chair looks better in real life than on the internet. It looks like it belongs in an Apple store. It looks inviting to sit in and that's pretty nice. The arms seem to have a variable density hard finished padding that is not particularly soft, but is not hard either. It seems to hit the right balance of giving a little without wearing out too fast. COMFORT: The padding on the bottom is firm but yielding. I weigh over 200 lbs, was comfortable, did not sink, and felt supported. The chair has a decent number of adjustments and is comfortable. Out of the box, the rear tilt knob on the bottom of the chair was a little loose, and we tightened it a lot, so the tension when freely leaning back is much better now. HEADREST: Not all chairs in this price range have a headrest. They should. This can double as a recliner with the headrest -- it is that comfortable. NEUTRAL: MATERIALS (Construction): While some of the materials on the chair are metal, there is a lot of what appears to be a decent amount of cast resin or hard plastics (especially the white portions), and while this is common for this class of chair, this chair seems to have less metal than the one it replaced for us. Not really a con, but just something to note. The use of plastics also makes it much lighter and easier to maneuver than the one it replaces. ADJUSTMENTS: Arms move up and down, but do not move side to side (there is a slight width adjustment that you can make when screwing the arms into the base, and this can be changed after assembly, but it is not a common adjustment). Personally, I do not care for chair arms that move side to side as I feel they create an impression of instability, but this may matter to some people. BRAND: I never heard of this brand before. That doesn't mean anything because I now know that they make a quality product, but if you are into name brands, this may not be a household name. ASSEMBLY: All of these chairs require some home assembly. We are pretty handy and found the chair to be fairly easy to assemble and put it together without incident in about 20 minutes. The nice thing is that this manufacturer gives you an extra bolt and extra washer of each type, so you are not stuck if something does not fit the threads exactly due to a factory quality control issue. Please note that the included allen wrench, while it will get the job done, is not idea. I was fortunate to have a T-shaped allen wrench of the correct size and that made this a much much easier proposition. It also let me tighten the bolts alot more than just the regular included allen wrench. BALANCE: Chair feels sturdy and well built, however, if you lean back quickly, there is a chance you can tip the chair. I don't know if other chairs in this price range have the same feel. However, if you are just sitting normally in the chair, there is no such feeling. CONS: ADJUSTMENTS: There are four adjustments that are needed for this chair to be complete. - First, the headrest moves up and down, but does not tilt forward. - Second, the lumbar support moves up and down, but it is not padded and there is no adjustment knob to adjust the tension of the lumbar support. The standard tension is fine, but it may be nice to have this adjustment and padding would be nice as well, although it works fine as it is due to the high quality mesh on the chair backing. - Third, I would like infinite tilt lock on this chair. This chair does have tilt lock and there are "steps," but it is not infinite (a different system, I guess) that I have on my chair at work, and which I like. - Fourth and perhaps most importantly, there is no option for the bottom to tilt in conjunction with the rear of the chair when you lean back. Thus, the chair is more like a recliner than some of the other office chairs that move along with you when you lean back. I feel that this lack of an ability to have the bottom move with the rear of the chair as you recline takes away from the chair's comfort as an office chair, especially when leaning back because leaning back can impose strains on your back rather than cradling you while you change your position. For all of these adjustments, especially the last two, I docked the chair one star. Hopefully this gives you some perspective and a good idea about this chair to make an informed decision. It is hard to choose a chair off the internet because this is an unknown brand and you don't really see the chair until it shows up at your house. Best of luck with your chair shopping. ... show more

  • Probably as good as $200 +- $50 will get you these days
Color: Grey
Compared to the 1998 office chair this was replacing, the build quality is lacking. Of course, they don't make them like they used to and I think you need go north of $500 to get something as durable as what I had. The part you'll instantly notice to be lacking is the arm rests - since there's no actual rail for them to slide up and down on, they wobble on the horizontal axis (as well as the vertical but with your arms on them that won't be a problem). The adjustment button simply locks them into a hole in the arm. This is the part that will fail first I would bet as the plastic inside becomes worn. Next time I'll make sure my chair has an actual rail in the arm for adjustments. The chair seems supportive and all adjustments work correctly. My biggest peeve is that the arm rests seem to have been designed for people with fairly narrow shoulders. I am not particularly bulky, 5'10", but my shoulders are slightly broader than average, and these arm rests have no horizontal adjustment. It is pretty cramped for someone with my build, so I suspect this will not fit many American males well. In addition, the decorative plate that is supposed to hide screws in the headrest refused to snap in. When I forced it, it predictably broke so now I'll need to superglue it in. It'll do for now. At least it looks kinda cool if you're into modern aesthetics with the lime green seat. ... show more

  • Very Comfortable
Color: Grey
Isn't built to last but for a couple years of steady use it'll keep you comfortable. For EDS patients it is a life saver while trying to get desk work done. Or for even just eating dinner. I am 5'3 135 pounds and the cushion is still like new since Ive bought it. Will update. Plan to buy another

  • Lumbar support isn't great
Color: Grey
I work 10 hour days in an office. My office chair was horrible, so I decided I'd buy my own, but didn't want to spend $1000. This chair is still an improvement to the old trash I was using. I needed something with good lumbar support and I'm not sure this is working. Biggest con: the pictures may not show it week, but there's a vertically adjustable lumbar support. It's two panels. When I'm sitting back into them, there's 2 ends in the middle that dig into my back. I've tried the support in various positions, but always the same, I end up sore. Con: the headrest. Unsure what it does for a sitting up position. I suppose if you laid back, it's useful... But then you're not working. Medium: the seat is a bit thin. It's comfortable enough, but I worry about it's longevity. Medium: the armrests. They're not bad at all. Adjustable height and with the screws, customizable width. They're medium level comfort, not really padded, but better then hard plastic. Pros: cost, I got this right under $200 and that's not bad at all for this chair. Pro: looks. It's a very fresh professional looking office chair. Pro: lightweight Pro: mesh back comfortable aside from the lumbar support (I may end up trying to remove the lumbar support). All in all though, my back is sore sitting in this chair and I can't recommend it if you're needing good lumbar support. Assembly was ok. Took me 30-45 minutes by myself with the provided tools. With a better Allen wrench it would go much quicker. ... show more
