I gave 3 stars because I love the color and look, but just know, before you spend $90+ per bench, do NOT expect to receive these in “new” condition! These aren’t cheap benches that Ashley puts their name on, but I’m positive they are intentionally selling their defected factory items that you would normally see deeply discounted. The problem is that I didn’t pay “defect, outlet prices” when I bought 2 of these benches and there were damages to BOTH benches.. NOT caused by shipping!! The shipping boxes were fine, neither box had any damage, yet there were gashes in bench seats, not on a corner, or where you’d expect, but in the middle of the bench on one bench and on the side for other!! This damage was obvious and had to be there prior to their packaging! These gashes were large enough that they would have put splinters in my kids’ legs. I had to sand both down to smooth and fix with stain pen. If it wasnt that I was on a crunch, then I wold have returned them! And even after me having to DIY fix them, the defects are still noticeable. Loved the benches, was planning to buy table to match, but definitely not anymore! Buyer beware!

The bench itself is nice enough for the money but the packaging is a disaster. It comes wrapped in crumbling, messy styrofoam. But the worst part is that the box with the legs come stapled to the bottom of the bench with heavyweight nylon straps. Each of the 4 strap ends is stapled into the bottom of the bench with 2-3 heavy duty staples that are impossible to remove. I was able to pull out one of the staples which damaged the bottom of the bench. I can’t get the other ends dislodged - what in the world were they thinking? I’ve never seen such stupid packaging. See 2 pictures for a visual - I may return this bench since the only option I can come up with is to use a box cutter to trim the nylon straps as close to the bench as possible. Dumb.

The first one that was sent was damaged. The seller was quick to send me a new undamaged bench. I would do business with this seller again. I appreciate their swift service. I am considering purchasing another bench in the near future. The bench is beautiful and is extremely heavy. My 1 year old can easily climb the bench without knocking it over and barely moves it at all. She's a big girl weighing in at 30 pounds so that's rather impressive. I'm glad I don't have to worry as much because I know this won't tip over onto her. I ordered the bench to match the table and chairs to the matching Whitesburg dining set. The painted wood is cream/ivory/buttermilk color (NOT white) and the top wood portion is not exactly cherry or espresso but could probably match with either cherry or espresso furniture. Pictures will be attached.

I have the matching table and chairs for this bench. I want 2 benches to complete the set. So far I have ordered 3 benches and we are able to use 1/3. The first one we had to send back the bench top was not connected to the bench base, where you attach the legs. I ordered a replacement and sent that one back. The replacement one has screw wholes that are stripped and the legs don’t stay attached. Now I have to send it back and order yet again. This process is not only annoying but we have gone a long period of time without enough seating for our whole family now. I hope the 4th bench does the trick and I wish the company would reach out to me.

UPDATE 2: see the photos of the scratches. UPDATE: I took away 4 stars and gave this only 1 star. After just a few weeks of using this bench, it now has a huge scratch on it and all of the screws fell out. The wood is too soft for the screws to hold and the screws are too small. The top is no longer attached to the legs. My toddler fell off the bench when the top disconnected from the legs as the last screw let go. Do not buy this bench if you intend to use it rather than just use it as decor. Amazon was not helpful in processing a replacement. I am within my return window but finding a box big enough to actually ship it back, during quarantine, is impossible. I’m furious. I got this bench on sale - I had been watching it for a while and I am thrilled I finally decided to get it. It took about 10 minutes to put together... It was packaged securely and was in perfect condition when it arrived.

Update: We have two little kids and the wood is very easily marked up. They have not scratched through the stain yet but there are lots of marks all over the table and bench already because the wood is so soft. We purchased this bench along with two matching chairs and the kitchen table. Everything came nicely wrapped and without damage. The bench is surprisingly nice for the price point. It couldn't have been easier to put together. It comes with the allen wrench needed to attach each leg. The only downside was unwrapping this thing. It came with a bunch of broken styrofoam which made a huge mess. Also, there were some dacron-like straps stapled to the bottom of the bench. I think they were there to secure the legs during shipping perhaps, but the box with the legs was loose when we got it. Had to get the pliers out to pull the staples out. Same thing with the matching table we purchased.

Trying to decide if I should return this item or not!! First of all I think that this item is a returned or a damaged, not good enough to sell in a furniture store product. I put the legs on the bench before totally removing it from the box, when finished I flipped it right side up and to my surprise screws that attatched the top to the frame came tumbling to the floor!!! I attempted to put them back in but they would not stay. This would be a pain to have to return and reorder. So disappointed. I have the matching dining table and buffet that I purchased from the store and they are of better quality that's what leads me to believe that this is a factory 2nd.
