Only about 2 weeks in... My last mattress was very soft. Nothing like this one. It was old style interlocked spring system with plush pillow top. My wife and I just sank into it. On the side, middle... it was just a super plush soft mattress. We began having trouble with our backs and arms and hands going numb and tingling at night. I did some research and a more firm mattress was recommended every place I looked. This mattress is more firm than I expected. I would call this extra firm. I don't have much experience with mattress softness levels but it doesn't compress much when sat or laid on. I am 200lbs. It doesn't have much of a top cushion. I have my own 4in topper so I thought why buy a mattress with a built in topper that can wear out? With the added 4in topped it is comfy and very supportive Out of the box this 11in mattress only took about an hour or so to reach full expansion. We have a custom plywood top box it sits on. This is our first independent coil (pocket spring) and foam hybrid mattress to sleep on. So far or rest is much improved. Arm, back, and hand issues progressively getting better. If you are looking for a mattress with very firm support and little top cushion then this is it. We are only 2 weeks in. Maybe the mattress springs will relax a bit more in the zones needed. I scoured the stores all 1k+ price point and the internet including Amazon and finally decided on this one based on the clear description they gave in their header and the reviews helped as well. This purchase came with additional delivery options for additional costs that also were super affordable as well: 1. delivery inside your front doors, 2. to your room, 3. into the room, set up, clean up and old mattress removal, etc.. Prices range from $20 to $50 but not sure if that is specific to your location. The price of the mattress is so reasonable these extra fees are doable. This oder was placed Wednesday night and it was delivered before 9am on Friday. The box was just under 60" tall and very heavy. I had to get help to get it upstairs. The mattress is somewhat tightly packed in the box so I opted to pry it open carefully along the length of it by the seam to easily release it. It is wrapped in an industrial grade seran wrap that comes off easily and the second wrapper is just heavy plastic that holds the vacuum seal. I was able alone to position it onto my box spring and unfurled until I had enough to flip it to the brown bottom, coiled side down. I made an effort to flatten out the edges as much as I could, then I unfurled the rest and began with an initial puncture to the remaining plastic with the blunt end of a letter opener and immediately it began to hiss and expand! I carefully removed the plastic and it kept expanding and reached 10" within minutes!!! I tested with my hand and felt it was a good firmness but not as firm as I had hoped for but a few hours later, somehow it was considerably more firm! Joy!!! This is what I need. The top of the mattress is white, with lavender accents sculpted and gives a nice but firm pillow top feel without the plushness that can make it a miserable struggle to get up from but yet it is soft enough to where you do not feel you are on a brick. The sides are made of a dark fabric with purple thread accent patterns and faux button tufting. The whole thing is just lovely to look at. The tags say Sierra Sleep by Ashley. I will be patient and wait the 48 hrs to sleep on it. There was absolutely no weird smells, dust or bugs. Just a beautiful, firm but comfy mattress delivered on time in a fully intact box.     • Firm but absolutely worth it!!

I don't normally review anything online, but I am so pleasantly surprised by this mattress that I felt it was warranted. I just moved to a new apartment about a month ago in a new city so I needed a mattress. I was a little apprehensive about buying one online that I hadn't tried out in person but clearly Covid19 changed a lot of things. The mattress was delivered a few days earlier than expected. The box was rather heavy and a little beat up around the corners, but the mattress was completely intact. Opening it by myself was easy; I just removed the [possibly unnecessary amount of] plastic it was rolled up in, and it popped up by itself. I honestly thought it was going to be too hard to sleep on at first, but after the first night on the mattress, my back was not stiff at all in the morning!! This mattress is very firm but not uncomfortable, no numbness in my arms during the night; I'm a 28yo, tall-ish athletic woman that sleeps on her stomach and side mostly, so support is particularly important to me. I used to have a *very fancy and expensive* memory foam mattress- you know the one. It was extremely comfortable initially, like sleeping on a cloud. But after a few months, my top complaints were: 1- heat retention [woke up sweating a lot; lived in the south where there are no seasons, only summer and summer-lite, so being hot at night was a big problem and disrupted my sleep], 2- my back pain & stiffness in the morning returned [not as bad as the POS mattress I had before the memory foam but still came back], and 3- there was no bounce [kind of hard to get out of and well, not as fun for adult activities haha]. This one does NOT have any of those issues, but like I said, it is quite firm. I recently ordered a 2 inch mattress topper that I would absolutely recommend if you like a softer, more plush mattress but still want the support and breathability with a great price point. Best of both worlds! TLDR: very firm = super supportive & stopped my back pain & stiffness. 10/10 would recommend. Get a topper if you want a more plush feel. ... show more
