I got this for trumpet and it works phenomenally well. Follow the directions and for horns leave the gain down low on the transmitter and the sound will be clear. The range is unbelievable and there's no static like you get on a cheap wireless. Definitely worth the money.

Receiver would not power up brand new out of the box what a complete let down by Shure. Needed this mic for a gig this week and Im sending it back for a refund instead. Would fo rated zero stars if possible.

As soon as I realized that the system would record both my voice and my instrument with a high level of clarity and fidelity, without the inconvenience of wires or dropouts that occur intermittently, I had a rush of confidence. Upon turning on the clip-on instrument mic and mounting the rack receiver in my home studio, I was immediately impressed by how self-explanatory the process of setting it up was. I was able to rapidly couple the transmitter and receiver by using the one-touch QuickScan function of this device. I believe that this feature saved me at least ten minutes in comparison to the manual frequency hunts that were being performed on previous UHF systems. When the green RF light burns solid, which indicates a rock-steady connection out to the promised 300-foot range, I get the impression that I am dealing with equipment that is twice as expensive as other similar products. During one of the tests, I traveled across my whole practice area, including through doors, around corners, and even down a short corridor. Despite the fact that nearby Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals were fighting for space, I do not recall any instances of dropouts or interference occurring. The longevity of the battery has also been a notable advantage. I utilized this product for a series of consecutive nighttime performances as well as daytime livestreams, and I am honestly astonished by the fact that the transmitter never dropped below half power until after about fourteen hours of continuous operation. This durability, I believe, provides me with the actual flexibility to experiment with placement and positioning without being restricted to the same power outlets or having to switch batteries in the middle of the show. My experiences with transmitters that flash red at the worst possible moment—like in the middle of a chorus or during a crucial interview question—have not been positive. However, with this particular transmitter, I was constantly aware of the precise amount of power that was left in the battery, owing to the bright LED battery indicator that was located on the receiver. When it comes to the quality of the audio, I have used this device in both spoken-word presentations and acoustic guitar performances, and I believe that the dynamic range that it provides is nothing short of astounding. Even when the instrument level is at its lowest, I get the impression that the integrated preamp is able to maintain every detail of my strumming and voice intonation. When I play fingerstyle sections on my guitar or talk gently into the lavalier mic, the sound is always clear, natural, and devoid of hiss. This is true regardless of the situation. I do not have a favorable recollection of inexpensive wireless systems that add background fuzz or compress the signal in an unnatural manner; nevertheless, this Shure kit offers audio that is smooth and uncolored, and it fits wonderfully in both my recordings and my live mix. ... show more
