  • A Very Good Sneaker at an Affordable Price
I purchased this tire for a 2007 Suzuki DL1000 (V-Strom). I had previously owned Bridgestone Battlewings and was able to get 7,000 miles from the rear, and the front wore quickly as well. Those tires are $100+ each, so I looked for more affordable alternatives. Shinko isn't a brand many folks know about, but they purchased the motorcycle tire technology and molds from Yokohama Tire. I purchased a front and rear set of Shinko 712s and was able to get 6,000 miles from the rear. The front is still going strong, and I expect to get the usual 2X life out of it when compared to a rear tire. Going back to the rear tire, one might look at the 1,000 mile difference as significant, but when the price is factored in, it becomes apparent that the Shinkos should at least be given a cursory look. A rear tire is ~$70 depending on all the things that effect tire costs, among them oil, rubber and transportation. That's almost a 2X savings when compared to other brands, and I'll take that any day for a 1,000 miles less wear. For me, they have good traction and never slipped on clean pavement, and there weren't any balance or bubble issues. I don't do much driving in the rain but was able to make it home without issue when it did. The channels are deep enough, so you'll likely make it home and not slide out if you don't ride like a buffoon. A tire, regardless of brand, that's not inflated properly or pushed too hard will always be more susceptible to failure. My point is that while most of us are set in our ways of battery, tire or oil selection, it's beneficial to at least look at other options that may be equivalent. ... show more

  • Great tire
Some of the reviews state this tire is too soft of rubber and wears out prematurely. Folks I've rode motorcycles for over 40 plus years and have used just about every tire out there. There is nothing wrong with a soft tire in fact I prefer it, it helps the bike hug the road. Too hard of rubber you will be buying new pants along with those mufflers you tear up when you lay your machine down.(get my point). As for this tire someone said it wore out in 5000 miles (rear tire) guys that's about all you will get out of a tire on the rear. I love this tire. It's not made in CHINA. And the price is practical. I'll buy another set good lord willing for my 1978 KZ650B Kawasaki. Keep the shiny side up! ... show more

  • Hard to beat for the price
Size: 140/90-15 70H
Had a new more expensive tire on the bike when riding one night picked a bright shiny new 16# bx nail in the tread area but didn't go straight in instead went in on a diagonal. Net result Nail; 1 My Rear Tire; ZIP So in the space of 2 1/2 months I was looking a either a new rear tire or a more creative approach to repairing the old tire (not an option) the new tire option was also pretty marginal being retired and on a fixed income. While browsing I came upon Shiko Rear tire right size more importantly the right price. I've dealt with the sell before and this time was no exception to the out standing service and timely handling of orders that I had come to expect..So the only unknown was the tire. I mounted the tire myself with just basic hand tools, a little brute force and just a dash of ignorance and in a while the tire was on the rim and mounted on the bike. This occurred just a few weeks ago so the wear life of the tire remains an unknown. Seems to be wear a little bit faster then a more expensive larger brand names but still to early to tell standard wear tire life. traction and bike handling are good and the tire is stable even at "well above" the legal speed limit. If your are budget minded this tire pretty much fits the bill. I would definitely recommend this tire to a friend. ... show more

  • Even if Price were no object, This is Still a great M/C tire deal. (jmho! :-) )
Size: 140/90-15 70H
I just ordered my second Shinko 712 rear tire for my bike. Got about 8300 miles on the first one. Great tire for the price. Really like the handling. The bike tracks true through the corners with no front nibble over seams or grooves. The rear follows along as it should. The front which was put on at the same time is almost like new. I expect to get another 10,000 out of the front at this rate. Shinko Fact: When Yokohama dropped out of the M/C tire business, They sold their molds and formulas to Shinko, so These are basically Yokohama M/C tires. ... show more

  • Great value for the money
Size: 100/90-18 56H
I fit this tire to the front of my Moto Guzzi SP2, an old school touring bike. I like Shinko tires because they offer solid engineering, good all-weather performance, and great mileage for the money. Kudos to Longhorn Moto for keeping the price point down and shipping my tire out the same day.

  • Fantastic tire!!!
I bought this to complete my CB360 build. I was a bit nervous going with this brand but now that I have them on I wont use anything else. This tire looks mean and rides smooth. I have a few buddies that have since then switched over and most of the people that I ride with now use this brand of tire. For this tire it fits the CB360 just fine. Don't waste money on stupid expensive tires when you can get this one for half the cost. ... show more
