  • A Heartfelt Sequel Full of Nostalgia and Holiday Cheer
“A Christmas Story Christmas” was such a pleasant surprise! As a sequel to the beloved original, it does a fantastic job of honoring the charm and humor of the first film while bringing something new and heartfelt to the story. Seeing Ralphie all grown up and trying to give his family a magical Christmas of their own brought both laughs and touching moments. The callbacks to the original were done with care—not overdone—and the cast did a wonderful job capturing the same quirky, warm spirit. It’s a perfect holiday movie to watch with family, especially if you loved the first one. Funny, nostalgic, and surprisingly moving—this is one sequel that truly earns its place in your annual holiday lineup! ... show more

  • An adorable movie and a fitting tribute and finale to the original.
My family and I love this wonderfully written sequel to The Christmas Story. We were pleasantly surprised by how clever, funny, and heartwarming it is and how it presents a beautiful conclusion to the characters we grew to love from the original by reintroducing many of the original cast members. The regrettable exceptions are Melinda Dillon and Darren McGaven (Mr. and Mrs. Parker), but all the new characters that are introduced, including Ms. Dillon's quirky replacement played by Julie Hagerty, complement the story beautifully. As with the Christmas Story, we'll enjoy this movie for years to come. ... show more

  • An Honest Review
I feel compelled to write a review for Amazon about A Christmas Story Christmas. First, I should state that I am a big fan of the original movie. And that is an important disclosure because it sets the bar incredibly high for any type of sequel in my view. In fact, I saw A Christmas Story 2 and I won't be wasting any of my time writing a review for that movie. In contrast, this movie was thoughtful, respectful to the original, and undeniably heartwarming. I watched it once last year. But I finally found the time to catch it this year and I found myself wet eyed while watching it twice this evening. That’s right, this movie improved with time for me. I thought it was good last year, but it “aged” particularly well over the past year in my mind and any movie I’ve ever watched a second time a year or more later that seemed better than the first time I watched it, has that rare “it” for me. The magic to pull humor, empathy, and bittersweet emotions into a world dating back to the mid 70’s is a world that you’ll want to be drawn into. At least I did and I was happy to take the journey. A movie that seems oh so familiar because you’ve seen the original countless times – do yourself a favor, buy the movie. Watch it with other fans of the genre. You’ll be glad you did. I lost my old man 7 years ago and he definitely had similarities with Ralph’s Dad. That makes this movie all the more poignant to me. I want to thank anyone who had a hand in making this film. It is now solidified as one of my personal favorites. Is it perfect? No. But it hits all the notes it needs to hit and does so effortlessly. A sequel that waited nearly 40 years to launch and I dare say - worth the wait. Bravo! ... show more

  • Nice to have a sequal, but could have been so much better...
Good movie, but could have been a lot better. Nothing is going to hold a candle to the original. This one feels more like a made-for-TV movie sequel. There are some good moments in the writing, but it feels rushed and not well thought through. Where the original was more serious in the real world portions, this one is much sillier all around - to an unrealistic point. One of the highlights is having a lot of the original actors. Even so, the grown up kid characters seem under-used. The replacement actress for Mom Parker doesn't fit at all. It's worth watching and I'm glad to have in my Christmas movie library. For perspective from a family that LOVES the original; some of my family loved it, I enjoyed it but feel it could have been so much better, and my Mom completely hates it. ... show more

  • Finally, a good sequel!
I couldn't decide if I wanted to watch this or not. The original is my all-time favorite Christmas movie and, let's face it, sequels are usually horrible. My friend finally convinced me to watch it and I'm SO glad I did! The end had me in tears, in a GOOD way! You won't be disappointed!

  • Great sequel to the original
This really is a good movie. It’s a good sequel it I like how it shows the characters later in life you always wonder about some of your favorite characters and other movies how they ended up down the road but this is that it’s funny and endearing. It was a really good movie that’s just one dude opinion, see for yourself. ... show more
