Features

  • The MICHELIN tire for all types of cruisers, offering more longevity without compromising stability and handling.
  • Proven Longevity - The benchmark in longevity commissioned third-party tests show that the MICHELIN Commander II rear tire lasts almost twice as long as its main competitors.*
  • No Compromise on Stability and Manuverability - Thanks to its high-density and therefore stiffer frame (MICHELIN Amplified Density Technology), MICHELIN Commander II features premium handling and responsiveness. The top layers in rear tires are made of aramid fibers, which combine resistance and a lightweight feel for perfect stability, even at high speeds.
  • Excellent Grip on Wet Surfaces - A brand new longitudinal tread provides outstanding water evacuation, and thus excellent grip on wet surfaces.
  • *Commissioned third party tests conducted in 2011 on public roads comparing MICHELIN Commander II tires, Metzeler ME880, and Dunlop D407/D408 tires in sizes 130/80B17 and 180/65B16. Individual results may vary depending on motorcycle type and operating conditions.

Description

When the MICHELIN Commander II tire was released it set the standard in terms of tire life, almost doubling the life that consumers would see from its competitors. In addition to long tire life, Michelin has incorporated MICHELIN Amplified Density Technology (ADT) which increases responsiveness. Commissioned third party tests conducted in 2011 on public roads comparing MICHELIN Commander II tires, Metzeler ME880, and Dunlop D407/D408 tires in sizes 130/80B17 and 180/65B16. • An excellent tire if you have a cruser or touring bike - GOOD rubber is part of your safety gear
Size: 180/65-16
I bought my bike (2009 Kawasaki Vulcan) with this tire on it, in 2013. A tire of this grade is suggested for the next model above my bike (Touring - and I have a cruser) - rated to handle a couple hundred more pounds of load than the original manufacturer spec for this bike. I missed a safety check and the wife and I were running a little late - so I didn't look my back tire over before leaving home (foolish). It's hard to see, so you literally have to get down on your knees. This tire had finally dry-rotted over a period (10 years old remember - and 10K miles since I bought the bike - and still had lots of tread left). That said it did NOT give up on this ride - though it did throw a part of the tire while we were riding - and NEVER blew out. I can't say how close it got, but I've already put a reminder in my calendar to change it in 5 years or before if we ride it to mileage specs. That 'little bit extra' that goes into the heavy duty tire - could have saved us from an accident - and maybe saved our lives. Don't 'skimp' on something so important. Get the best and the strongest you can afford...and stay on top of wear and tear before and after every ride. THANKS MICHELIN for an incredible product! ... show more

  • Best price anywhere
Size: 180/65-16
Purchased the 180 and the 130 for a 2010 Harley Ultra Classic tour bike in 2020. Read lots of great reviews and bought them. Was blessed to find someone who could mount and balance for under $50 a tire. I know that's rare. They did a good job. So far, tires have held up well in last 2.5 years. No shuddering or shakes. Good grip. Pretty pleased with their performance and value for the money spent. ... show more

  • Offer a nice ride
Size: 180/65-16
This is kind of where "reviews" are silly. You're not going to know about the mileage and longevity until you've used the tire up. Therefore, there's no way to to determine value for money. I'm sure they are as good as most of the tires out there that are available for my motorcycle. What I do know is that they feel like a solid, sure-footed tire. I have no complaints about them after the first thousand miles. They came recommended by a friend that has always used Michelins so I thought I'd give them a try. I think the ride is a little better than Dunlops, which I've used for the past 40 years, To sum it up, they really don't qualify as being much (if any) better than the average "high quality" - read, expensive - tire. If after having used these tires up; they have significant mileage/longevity, perhaps then I'll be able to praise these tires as being better than the average. ... show more
