  • The best Beach Shade EVER!
Color: Royal Blue, Teal Size: Mini
I've done my homework and looked and scouted all the options out there. This one is well worth the investment. Lightweight and smallest compact size for the biggest shade area. Easy to assemble if solo and with 2 people. It's durable and the design is conducive for a windy day. Only 3 points of contact. Pole can go directly into sand (when beach rules allow) OR poles can go in a bucket of sand if beach rules prohibit for eco safety of the environment. I purchased this in the large size and returned since I needed only for myself and got the small one and used multiple times this summer. But now, because I absolutely love the durability and craftsmanship of this superior product, I might get the large one again, as I am traveling to the Caribbean in January with family and friends and I know how Lightweight it is, it will fit perfectly in my under 50 lbs suitcase. When I saw someone with this in the Caribbean, I had to ask them what and where they purchased. So glad I asked the. I really don't like to bother strangers but in this case, I'm glad I politely asked them the details, because I'm so happy with my purchase!!! ... show more

  • Worth it!
Color: Royal Blue, Teal Size: Classic
Very much worth it! Day one was a light breezy and the Shibumi did great on the beach. Was easy to put up and only had to adjust for a shift in this wind once. Was super quiet. Day two was WINDY and it provided the perfect shade again. Not super quiet in stronger winds but the ocean waves drowned out the flappy noise. Lots of people commented on it as they walked by, some taking pictures of the label. Much better shade than the old beach umbrella we have always used. It is nice and tall so we can stand up, it stays put and provides shade for my family and our gear. Yes, it is pricey but worth it! ... show more

  • Lightweight and easy setup
Color: Royal Blue, Teal Size: Classic
Have had this for 3 summers now and would absolutely recommend. I was initially hesitant based on the price, but this is lightweight and is BY FAR the easiest shade to set up. Over the years I've used umbrellas, party tents, tailgating canopies and none are as easy as this. It relies on wind, so don't expect to use this somewhere other than the beach, like at a kids soccer game, for example, unless you have constant wind. Haven't had any issues with it staying up while at the beach, as there's always plenty of wind. If the wind shifts you'll need to move the poles on one side so that it faces the wind. There's a lot of leeway even if you don't, but making adjustments takes all of 10 seconds and very little effort. Also, it does make noise, like a flying flag, so did the umbrellas, tents and canopies I've used in the past. This isn't any worse. It stores easily, is lightweight, easy to haul around, and can be set up and put away with very little effort. The part that takes the longest is putting sand in the bag. It is expensive, but if you go to the beach often, this is well worth the price for the convenience it provides. ... show more

  • LOVE THE MINI!
Color: Royal Blue, Teal Size: Mini
I live at the beach, and yes all along the SE coast of NC you will see these everywhere and everyone always has a comment to say about the “sea of blue Shibumi’s” however it’s a MUST have if you’re a beach lover! I could never justify spending the amount for the regular size shade and even was hesitant to spend the amount for the mini, but I was tired of baking in the sun and using bulky cheap umbrellas that don’t last a season or lugging out my heavy chair with a pop up shade so I finally broke down and bought this mini. The mini is perfect for 2 adults or even 2 adults and a kid, plus your beach bag/cooler etc. It’s the easiest and fastest shade to set up and take down and so it’s so light and compact! It’s not big or bulky and the shade in bag fits into my beach bag easily! Now it is a bit shorter in height than the larger shade so in my opinion it works best with “low to ground” beach chairs or if you’re a person who just sits on a towel. I’ve only had mine for one summer, but I know it will more than pay for itself in the long run bc a friend of mine has the large shade and has used it regularly for the past 3 summers and it still looks and functions like the day it was purchased. I highly recommend investing in the Shibumi shade in whichever size works best for your situation if you’re a regular beach goer. Also, as far as stability goes I have not had one issue with it not staying up in the wind, whether it’s just a light breeze or a big windy day, it’s worked great! ... show more

  • Totally worth the money
Color: Royal Blue, Teal Size: Mini
I rarely buy into the new "fad", expensive name brand, hyped up item. However, me and my equally pale husband went to Miami Beach in JULY! We were sure to be miserable but any day at the beach is a great day! We have tried all the failed sun shades over the years as we both burn very easily and hate being miserably hot. But I went ahead and bought this expensive shade and hoped for the best. It was fantastic! So easy to use, worked perfectly with a light breeze and we were very comfortable in the high 80s temp. We were able to hang out for hours without feeling like we would burst into flames! While these are very popular is NC/SC, they have not made their way to FL as much. We had LOCAL MIAMI FOLKS stop and ask us all about it! Now I know why they include business cards in the purchase! (They should give a kick back for advertising for them!) And when it was time to leave, super easy to pack up. No need to leave out to dry or shake off etc, all the problems from umbrellas in the past. We spent several fantastic days on the beach and did NOT burn or burst into flames from the heat! We still used sunscreen, of course, but we were so very comfortable! I bet the temp was several degrees cooler under our awesome shade! And I love the story of it's birth, college students from our home state of NC. Honestly, that was part of the reason I was willing to pay so much for it! I am sure they have made plenty of money by now! It IS a bit over priced considering the simple materials used. No way it comes anywhere near the cost to make. But hey, great idea equals great reward! I tell everyone this is the only shade they ever need to buy! No more chasing umbrellas or 4 point tents down the beach or watching for the terrifying possibility of being impaled by a flying umbrella spike! So yes, it is pricey but worth it!! ... show more
