  • Fits a lifted 02' Excursion easily.
Fits my 02' lifted Excursion. Has about a 1' clearance lengthwise, and about 3 feet on each side with the SUV in there. This shelter did survive a series of wind storms with winds over 50 mph over the past 9 months. However, if you install it the way the directions want it installed, this shelter will not withstand these winds. You will need to have a carpenter (or someone with some great insight into internal bracing) brace it internally to ensure it stays up. Some of the things I did: installed 6 four foot long anchors. Bolted the vertical legs to a 2"x6" treated lumber frame I built for it (along the perimeter, and perpendicular between sides to keep from spreading the legs), I used multiple tie down straps to tie the frame to the soil anchors, cross brace it along the horizontal horizon, and along the vertical horizon. Also, I used a 3/8" cable to hold the ends tight on the top curved roof line. It took a while, I used at least 16 tied downs inside the structure, 8 - 16' long treated lumber, bolts, and I used eye bolts at many locations to attach the tie downs. Don't over-tighten the roof tarp, as it will shrink in cold and tear. It cost about $300 for the lumber and extra bolts/straps. Took 3 days to build myself with cranking the anchors in by hand and I am experienced. ... show more

  • Don't buy this item!!!!
I needed a place to store my OHV's. It was easy to assemble and the fabric is super sturdy. One worry was snow. It did great as the snow slides right off. Roomier then anticipated. Great value for the size and durability. Update I really didn't want to give it even one star but I had to or it wouldn't let me post the review. A little over a year later the pitch of almost the entire ceiling was torn. Just right outside the warranty time. I am seeing quite a few reviews with the same problem. The pitch is torn and the cover gets super fragile and tears easily. I am not happy with the company warranty response. I bought it December 4th and it didn't arrive until January. So, 14 months later the company will not replace the cover. 2 months after the warranty ran out! Bad business practice. There is obviously something wrong with the cover. They are offering me a 20% discount on a replacement cover which is still another $300 for something that will do the same thing a year from now? I don't think so. I guess I will chalk this up to the don't buy this again! Very unhappy with the product and the companies response. ... show more

  • Skin should be protected in southern climates, use lots of extra/large tie-downs
I've only had this since August of this year so my experience is limited. The cover is tough relative to a common tarp, but still polyethylene material. I've seen a SL shed cover degrade in a couple of years up in NJ, and here in NC I expect the topmost sun-exposed sections to degrade much more rapidly. My shed went together in a few hours, with help from my son. Screw hole tolerances were extremely tight but accuracy was off on a few of them, meaning they didn't line up exactly and we had to persuade it a little with 2x4 and mallet. An 8' ladder was very helpful to persuading the tarp cover as well. For anchoring, IMHO the included screw posts and wire rope ties are insufficient. I purchased two more kits, one of similar but slightly longer screw in posts with eye hook ends, and another four much, much larger double-finned posts topped with with 2x mounting cups. The double-finned posts are at inside corners, the others screwed in both inside and outside the shed along the walls. A "recycled billboard vinyl" is added over the top, held down with two 3000 lb rated 3" tow straps - I will add a third strap soon. The extra inside posts are tied to the frame with lighter weight tie down ratchet straps. All hand tightened, not too tight just firm. Inside, I've mounted a Unistrut-style C channel across the internal uprights, more for hanging tools than for stiffening the frame, using pipe hangers and c-channel bolts; and two sliding uprights made from galvanized conduit mounted with PVC+fittings along the rear wall and sunk into the soil several inches. Again, the conduit doesn't stiffen the structure but provides a bit of resistance against wind blowing the rear tarp inward. This is all ad-hoc - I'd like to find fittings to add on diagonal cross braces more neatly, like the skirt cross members (but diagonal) - I just haven't yet. So far it's held up to three storms and the remnants of a hurricane. I'm impressed enough that I'm about to purchase a second unit, to scavenge the skin as a replacement tarp and repurpose the frame as a greenhouse. Update Sept 2024: the skin has deteriorated wherever it was directly exposed to the sun, such that a minor tug on it directly will cause tears. However, the repurposed tarps have saved the day here: the cover split right on a seam over top in the ceiling area... The billboard tarps prevented weather intrusion for now. The front roll-up door and back edge seams are worn just by sun exposure though. So I give the frame a four out of five (held up mainly because of extra anchoring) and the cover will last, at the outside best, two years in the southeast USA. ... show more

  • Cover tears and breaks down after a couple years of use.
I believe these are great in some ways, but bad in others. I purchased three of these, and like that they are tall, and sturdy. They seemed well built, and the frame is; however the cons are, for one there is only one entry allowed from one end, the back end does not allow you to open, or go through it. And a greater issue is that the material they make them out of seems to deteriorate faster than you would expect. For me at this price, I expected to get at least five years, but the one's I received only lasted a couple months past two years, and then started tearing open along the top of the roof line. They have not had any outside damage, it just appears the material has broken down and weakened. Unfortunately I do not see a way to claim for a replacement cover, and I bought three of these car covers. I also was looking to see if I can get a replacement cover by purchasing, and don't see an option. So as of right now it looks like I was able to use them for two solid years, and now have to come up with another solution on top of disposal of these ones. Not happy, but thought someone else may benefit from my review. I will update if I find a way to get a replacement cover, or something changes. ... show more
