  • Performs well enough with reasonable expectations
Style: XL Self-Empty Base
The vacuum itself is a nicely made unit. Handles change in floor height, carpet to hard floor transitions, and average pile height carpet with equal ease. The self-emptying feature does a GREAT job, and the occasional cleaning maintenance that it needs is quick and easy to accomplish making it utterly non-annoying to use and maintain. I like it a lot. It vacuums in straight lines, and leaves the carpet look nicely manicured. It mapped the house after only about 4 trips around, and did a good job - the map looks like it should. The application, sadly, is an unmitigated pile of garbage and needs to be fussed with in order to get the desired results. Frequently decides to vacuum the entire house instead of the specific rooms we identified in the app - like a strong-willed cat, it has its own ideas about how to proceed. With a little patience and fussing with the application, you can eventually get it to vacuum the rooms you want. HINT: If your carpet is dirty or a bit sticky (just through regular use), I have found the vacuum won't be as effective at picking things up. After cleaning the carpets (Rug cleaner machine), the vacuum is picking up a lot more with each run. In other words, if your pet's hair sticks to the carpet, the vacuum will have to work harder to get it. Start with a reasonably clean carpet, and the vacuum does a GREAT job maintaining that and being a vacuum. Thanks to the brush design, pet hair/human hair does NOT get stuck in the brush and won't need to be picked at to remove it. I really dislike the application - and hope they fix it because having to fuss with it to get the desired results is not my favorite way to spend time. Other than that - I like everything about this Vacuum. ... show more

  • Reliable worker
Style: XL HEPA Self-Empty Base
We picked up most objects we'd move around the house, told the robot to map the house, and profit every time it runs. This thing reliably navigates our house and most obstacles every day. We have carpet and tile, and it seems to do fine vacuuming both even though we have it set to normal vacuum power. Speaking of power, it seems much quieter and more effective than it's (more expensive) competitors of its generation. Again, we use normal vacuum power, not max, because it is quieter and more effective than our experiences with Roborock S5, iRobot Roomba with the double rollers and camera, and others. We really like the thing. It picks up plenty of dust, dirt, fur and hair every day. The self-empty feature is so helpful for any floor larger than a couple decent sized rooms. I'm quite impressed with it's navigation. When I pick it up to move it out of my office before a meeting, I press the clean button and close the door, and it seems to determine it's location in the house within a few seconds. We tried many more expensive robots and found them lacking for what we want--reliable, no cameras, easy to maintain. This little thing does the job and does it well. Impressive machine. ... show more

  • Not perfect but great!
Style: XL Self-Empty Base
I’ve owned several vacuum robots over the past two decades - one Roomba and three Eufys. I’ve seen the evolution of tech from random bounces to Wi-Fi linked apps and now I’ve purchased this self-emptying unit that maps my house. I’ve got two Eufys that work perfectly well - one upstairs, one downstairs - but they have one flaw: between two long-haired humans and two dogs, the hair wrap is insane. Like, I’ve got to clean the beater brushes every 2-3 runs at most (as the brushes age, it has to be done almost every run). Also, the dust bins have almost no room to spare when it’s finished, even if run daily - apparently my house is filthy. Ew. I purchased a Shark upright with no-wrap tech in 2021 and it has rarely had anything wrapped, and never more than a few strands. I finally gave in and purchased the robot version with fingers crossed the specialized beater brush works as well as it does on the upright. So far I’ve run it three times and here’s my impression: - app setup wasn’t 100% intuitive and I had a bit of trouble connecting it to my Wi-Fi but it wasn’t too difficult overall. - the “no wrap” is equal to the upright version. I have pulled one exceptionally long string out. It’s otherwise pristine! This right here is enough for me to save to purchase a second, to replace my other Eufy. Skipping cleaning hair wrap is a dream. - it is not shy about figuring out what furniture it can fit under and it hasn’t gotten stuck yet, even where my other bots have regularly gotten hung up. I have all of my cords out of the floor so I can’t speak to it’s intelligence there, but it climbs over furniture support bars with about as much grace as a robot can muster. - the self-empty feature is super convenient and the robot has emptied itself mid-run each time I’ve run it (about 600sqft, mostly carpet). I’m not worried about it losing suction or overfilling/erroring out. - the self-empty function didn’t quite fully empty the dirt cup on the robot when I checked but it was pretty close. I will keep an eye on this to see if it progresses to be worse (or if it improves!). - the dust cup on the dock makes it super easy to view debris level that has been emptied. I seriously doubt it will be anywhere close to the 45 days advertised to fill (in fact, I will be surprised if it makes it more than 15 runs). - the self-empty function is super loud and the robot itself is louder than I expected. Neither are going to wake your neighbors but if you’re easily startled or a light sleeper, I would be mindful about when you choose to run it. I’m used to running robots at night after we go to bed but this one is definitely daytime only. - the boundary strips work well - no issues with the staircase - the mapping function seems competent but it’s not something I really care for. The integrated camera for mapping isn’t something I am super comfortable with. Overall, this is pricey but if it continues to function as it has so far, I will be very pleased with my investment. I did purchase the Asurion insurance in case this has issues down the line since it seems like there are a lot of parts that could break and render it useless. ... show more
