My wife was hesitant to invest in "another" home automation device, but I convinced her that even if it cleaned a little between use of the big vacuum, it would be good. Well, we have BOTH been amazed! This little robot cleans daily for about 60 minutes (if scheduled) or 90+ minutes if activated on-demand, and picks up a LOT of cat/dog hair and dust... The collection bin is generally full after every cleaning! We use to use the big Shark upright 3-4 times per week, and we would fill the canister every couple of rooms. NOW, we run the Shark Navigator upright about once per week, and barely fill the canister after doing the whole house (4-BR, LR, Den, Kitchen, DR, and 2-bath). The robot doesn't get "everything", and frequently snags on a shoe-lace, piece, clothing in the kids rooms, or stray USB cord, but she does her job, and does it well! How did we live without this thing?? Even with two cats and two dogs in the house, my wife's (and mine) sinus issues are so much better. Honestly, you can hardly tell we have pets in the house. The carpet and hardwood floors are CLEAN, and virtually dust/dander/hair free. One of our family is highly allergic to cats, and he can come into our home and stay for hours without any reaction. He use to need a Benedryl after being here for an hour (even with the cats locked-away)... now not even a little redness or itching of his eyes. The App is simple... used for starting, docking, or scheduling... not for "controlling movement", but it works well for what it does. We primarily use Google Home or Amazon Echo devices to tell her to clean off-schedule, or to dock when she's running at an inconvenient time. The coolest thing is the Eco mode... it is whisper-quiet, and still manages to suck up a lot of pet hair and dust, even with the lower suction setting. We just started scheduling a quiet-mode cleaning at night, so she runs twice daily. We almost don't need the big upright anymore... ALMOST.... I think the best thing about this robot vacuum is that the dogs and cats aren't afraid of it. My Great Dane is a typical Scooby... he is afraid of his own shadow... and terrified of the upright vacuum or remote-control cars, but he lays on his couch, or in the floor, and lets our little robot do her job without paying her any attention (unless she bumps into him, and then he just moves... not runs to hide in the corner). The kitten sometimes likes to chase the edge-cleaning brushes, but lately she's given-up on trying to catch them ;) This little Shark Ion robot cost a little more than our Shark Navigator upright, but it has virtually paid for itself in time spent cleaning our house, and the reduction of allergens/irritants. We have two dogs and two cats that makes it necessary to vacuum EVERY day!! I did a lot of research and decided this little vacuum was the answer. We have tile and hardwood flooring on the main level of the house where the robot would be needed. I’ll police the rooms for dog toys, etc. and will place the two ottomans on the couches. I then will flip the dining room chairs and place them on the table. You don’t have to do this every time but I wanted the robot to clean as much area as possible. The robot is low enough that it can go under both couches too! The robot runs for just over a hour and then ports itself. The first use yielded a FULL cup of debris!! I run it once a day and the amount of debris collected has slowly been reduced so I probably will use it every other day or so. Suction appears to be great as I have seen some larger pieces in the cup. Also, the robot is relatively quiet which was a major selling point. My wife kept bothering me about getting someone to do the housecleaning but HAZEL( I named the robot after the TV maid) came to the rescue. My wife says she is really pleased with the results of our little “maid”!! One caveat though, IF you have pets that might make a “mess” on the floor, I would recommend they would be placed elsewhere while the robot is cleaning. A “mess” could be a real problem if the robot went through it and smeared it across the flooring!! I know it’s recommended to have an open area for the port but we don’t have that luxury. As a test, I placed the port, at an angle, in the corner of the dining room and even under a spare chair. It worked!! Out of sight, out of mind!! I bought the three year extended warranty because I plan on having HAZEL for years to come!! ... show more

I can highly recommend the Shark robot vacuum. I purchased the robot to help keep my hardwood floors clean of my dog's continuous shedding. I could not be more pleased. In addition to the vacuuming, the robot can be scheduled and also initiated through a phone app. It all works seamlessly and when cleaning is completed the robot returns to the docking station that is paired to the internet. The robot is able to avoid obstacles and redirect itself when blocked from its path. When cleaning carpeted areas it leaves tracks that define the areas it has cleaned. Once finished, the cleaning of the vacuum is very easy, emptying the collection drawer and cleaning the brushes. I am amazed at the amount of dog hair that is collected each time. My Shark saves me time and reduces the physical strain to my back of manual vacuuming. My floors look much cleaner since I started using the robot. ... show more

We bought this for my mother and she named it Kelo. He works amazingly and cleaned all of our home. We thought that he was not going to be able to pass through our hallway but it turns out he could. Make sure to pick up everything that could stop them though, like cables. It is important to know that they do not go organized but they do clean everything. Kelo is really silent and just got stuck once, but it was our fault (we had a curtain laying on the ground) and we received a notification of our phones.
