My wife was hesitant to invest in "another" home automation device, but I convinced her that even if it cleaned a little between use of the big vacuum, it would be good. Well, we have BOTH been amazed! This little robot cleans daily for about 60 minutes (if scheduled) or 90+ minutes if activated on-demand, and picks up a LOT of cat/dog hair and dust... The collection bin is generally full after every cleaning! We use to use the big Shark upright 3-4 times per week, and we would fill the canister every couple of rooms. NOW, we run the Shark Navigator upright about once per week, and barely fill the canister after doing the whole house (4-BR, LR, Den, Kitchen, DR, and 2-bath). The robot doesn't get "everything", and frequently snags on a shoe-lace, piece, clothing in the kids rooms, or stray USB cord, but she does her job, and does it well! How did we live without this thing?? Even with two cats and two dogs in the house, my wife's (and mine) sinus issues are so much better. Honestly, you can hardly tell we have pets in the house. The carpet and hardwood floors are CLEAN, and virtually dust/dander/hair free. One of our family is highly allergic to cats, and he can come into our home and stay for hours without any reaction. He use to need a Benedryl after being here for an hour (even with the cats locked-away)... now not even a little redness or itching of his eyes. The App is simple... used for starting, docking, or scheduling... not for "controlling movement", but it works well for what it does. We primarily use Google Home or Amazon Echo devices to tell her to clean off-schedule, or to dock when she's running at an inconvenient time. The coolest thing is the Eco mode... it is whisper-quiet, and still manages to suck up a lot of pet hair and dust, even with the lower suction setting. We just started scheduling a quiet-mode cleaning at night, so she runs twice daily. We almost don't need the big upright anymore... ALMOST.... I think the best thing about this robot vacuum is that the dogs and cats aren't afraid of it. My Great Dane is a typical Scooby... he is afraid of his own shadow... and terrified of the upright vacuum or remote-control cars, but he lays on his couch, or in the floor, and lets our little robot do her job without paying her any attention (unless she bumps into him, and then he just moves... not runs to hide in the corner). The kitten sometimes likes to chase the edge-cleaning brushes, but lately she's given-up on trying to catch them ;) This little Shark Ion robot cost a little more than our Shark Navigator upright, but it has virtually paid for itself in time spent cleaning our house, and the reduction of allergens/irritants. I will definitely recommend these to all my family/friends. Everyone needs at least one for every floor of their home!

We have two dogs and two cats that makes it necessary to vacuum EVERY day!! I did a lot of research and decided this little vacuum was the answer. We have tile and hardwood flooring on the main level of the house where the robot would be needed. I’ll police the rooms for dog toys, etc. and will place the two ottomans on the couches. I then will flip the dining room chairs and place them on the table. You don’t have to do this every time but I wanted the robot to clean as much area as possible. The robot is low enough that it can go under both couches too! The robot runs for just over a hour and then ports itself. The first use yielded a FULL cup of debris!! I run it once a day and the amount of debris collected has slowly been reduced so I probably will use it every other day or so. Suction appears to be great as I have seen some larger pieces in the cup. Also, the robot is relatively quiet which was a major selling point. My wife kept bothering me about getting someone to do the housecleaning but HAZEL( I named the robot after the TV maid) came to the rescue. My wife says she is really pleased with the results of our little “maid”!! One caveat though, IF you have pets that might make a “mess” on the floor, I would recommend they would be placed elsewhere while the robot is cleaning. A “mess” could be a real problem if the robot went through it and smeared it across the flooring!! I know it’s recommended to have an open area for the port but we don’t have that luxury. As a test, I placed the port, at an angle, in the corner of the dining room and even under a spare chair. It worked!! Out of sight, out of mind!! I bought the three year extended warranty because I plan on having HAZEL for years to come!!

Bought this vacuum to replace a lesser known brand vacuum we had that stopped working. Chose this one because of price and option to have voice control with our Alexa. So far it does a great job of sucking up pet hair. It’s a bit odd how it decides where to go and it bumps into everything in a strange way (hard to explain) but it does eventually get everywhere we need it too. It won’t go to the dock unless it’s right in the path of the dock, which is rather annoying if you do want to set it while you’re away and come back to find it stuck in a corner. The app works about 50% of the time to control it and we can’t get Alexa to communicate with the robot to start it for the life of us. It says it’s starting the cleaning but doesn’t do anything. Tried pretty much everything to get it to work with voice command through Alexa. If the app and Alexa worked better with it, I’d give it 5 stars.

Overall we are very pleased. I read a lot about them before I bought so unlike others that left poor ratings complaining about how it doesn’t get every inch every time I knew what to expect. This is by no means a top of the line robot vacuum. Those are $1000 or more and you can program them to clean in lines and in areas which you chose and such. As the advertising says this one cleans in a random fashion and doesn’t always get every inch of the floor every time. That’s how it’s designed, if you want that go spend the $1000. We got it to run daily just to pick up the dog hair and it’s fantastic at it. Keeps the floors looking much better than before. I set it up to run everyday while we are out at work. It runs and so far has always made it home to it’s charger. Please read the description of what it does, if you don’t and then expect more than it will do that’s on you for not reading. The only con really is the app doesn’t really work well and disconnects for some reason. It really needs updating to be more user friendly.
