  • Wow, Just Wow!
Style: SmoothStyle
I am an older woman, and religiously dye my grays. The texture and thickness of my hair have changed over the years, and now my hair is thin and frizzy. Frizzy from grays, and from overdyeing them. Believe me when I say I have tried every product (cheap and expensive) hair styling doo-dad and product out there, that claim to target my hair’s problems. Some I have had pretty good results with, and others? Not so much. My current regime is Pureology hair products for frizzy and dry hair, with the Revlon dry air brush. The Revlon gives decent results, but I could never, ever duplicate, or come close to duplicating, a professional blowout by my talented hair stylist. I just had to accept the fact that I am old, and younger-looking hair is not in the cards for me anymore. Enter this doo-dad. I was visiting my sister over the Christmas holiday, and she raved about this product. I decided to try it, and wow! My hair looked almost as sleek and beautiful as it does when I leave the salon! I don’t know if it is a combination of good hair products with this doo-dad that did it, but I was seriously impressed! I immediately purchased one, and am eagerly awaiting Amazon to deliver before I take my shower. Here is how I achieved beautiful hair. 1) Start by using the best quality hair product you can afford for your hair type. Don’t scrimp on this part of you can. Shampoo, hair conditioner, styling product, heat protectant, etc. 2) Divide your wet hair into sections. I turn the blowdryer mode on the hottest setting for my hair, and wrap each section around the brush until the hair is dry. I do this until my entire head is dry. At this point, my hair looks pretty good, but the next step is where the magic happens. 3) I then go over my hair in the same fashion as before , with the heat only setting on. Ahhhhhh! Gone is the frizzy and thin hair! In its place is shiny, wavy, slick hair that shows off the layers in my long hair. My Revlon dry air brush is now delegated back into my drawer, and I honestly don’t know if I will use it again. Also, yes, this product is a little heavy, but so was my Revlon air dry brush. It feels like a solid appliance to me, and I couldn’t be happier with it. ... show more

  • Shark vs. Drybar (Shark wins)
Style: SmoothStyle
The Drybar blow dryer brush was what I wanted so bad! I've had my eye on it for months. However there is NO way I could ever feel ok spending that kind of money on a dryer brush. After searching more I found the Shark dryer brush for half the price. I made the purchase. Day one of using it I was instantly impressed and mad at myself for never having tried a dryer brush before. I felt fancy like I just had my hair professionally done. It looked so good. Even the next morning. I excitedly told my coworker who said she owns the Drybar one and would bring it for me to try. I spent equal time with both brands to be sure about my feelings on which is better. TRUST ME when I say that the Shark is the one you want. Both brushes worked exactly the same with the basic function of a blowout style. Identical. There were only two features that the Drybar had and the Shark lacked, they were minor though; the Drybar had a very long cord and was light weight. Long cords are a game changer! As wonderful as those two details may be, are they worth a $110 difference!? No. Other details that made me question why a product can be priced so ridiculously high compared to one with a much lesser cost... Both dryers had identical noise levels. Both were the same length and shape. Both had 3 heat settings. Both glided through my hair the same. Both left my hair shiny, soft, healthy looking, full of volume and bounce. Both took exactly 15 minutes to dry my hair. What the Shark had and the Drybar lacked: the Shark has a little hook on the cord to hang the dryer, a wet and dry function (you don't even need to turn it off to go from one function to the next), visible heat settings that are easy to read whereas with the Drybar you literally have to search for the settings because it's all yellow, air flow is steady, lastly the Shark feels solid like if it were to drop it would no even get a scratch, it's made from quality material whereas the Drybar is a thinner material and has zero grip. So two points for Drybar and six for Shark. Now that I've had both in my hands and hair I can honestly say there is ZERO reason to get the Drybar brush, not unless the long cord and cute yellow color are that important to you. The Shark is an excellent dryer brush and comb. You will never regret getting it. ... show more

  • Works better than similar hot brushes
Style: SmoothStyle
I have used the Revlon One Step and the Hot Tools brush that are similar to this in the past, but I like this one the best. It dries my thick hair quickly, and helps retain some of my natural wave and curl, even after smoothing. I have arthritis in my hands, but although this is bigger and heavier than the other two, I find it easy to use and it doesn't cause any pain. I've had it for about a year now and it's holding up well. It's worth the extra cost over the other two for how well it works. ... show more

  • Decent hair smoothing
Style: SmoothStyle w/ Storage Bag
Good quality brush; looks cool. 15 minutes to dry my hair, but I feel like maybe it doesnt get hot enough. I've always used the Revlon brush - it's loud but hot and easy to use. However good the Revlon one is, I had to replace it several times because the bristles melt off. So this Shark one has 2 operations: one to blow dry wet hair and the other is for dry hair frizz fighting, and hair smoother. The heat level might be perfect for thin hair, but I have thick wavy hair. My hair is short so i will keep the Shark; even though it does seem too heavy. ... show more
