This item is 13 inches long (not including the cord). It would be very difficult to travel with this product as it would take up a lot of space in your bag.

I like a lot of things about the Shark SmoothStyle. It's a good-looking hair tool that has a lot of potential, but on my 4c hair it's just irritating. There's a wet hair mode and a dry hair mode. In wet hair mode, it works like a hot air dryer brush, allowing you to get a nice blowout. Like most hot air brushes though, it's not really designed to be the only thing you use to dry your hair. The instructions say that wet hair mode is only suitable for use on DAMP hair, not wet hair. Damp is defined as being 70% dry. So, you'll still need to either allow time for your hair to air dry to damp or use an actual blow dryer to get your hair mostly dry before moving on to use this. Or spend forever using it to fully dry your hair. The smoothing comb turns on when it's in dry hair mode. You'll need your hair to be 100% dry before using dry hair mode, just like you would with any sort of curling or flat iron. I like how the bristles keep hair neat and in order and kind of guide it through the teeth of the straightening comb. For me, that's half the battle of flat ironing my own hair - I feel like I need a third hand to have a comb guide the hair through the iron to get it really straight. This solves that problem, but then still fails a little bit - the teeth of the straightening comb don't get that same "press" that you'd get out of a flat iron, so my hair still doesn't come out as straight as it would with an iron. Long story short - this is not for 4c hair. However! We have an exchange student from South America with luxuriously long hair with a slight wave to it. On her hair, this tool does wonders. She's in love with it. Her hair is thick, but she usually wraps it in a towel after washing and that absorbs most of the water. From there, she's able to quickly use wet hair mode to dry her hair without frizz or a lot of heat, and then when she uses the dry hair mode, she adds curls or waves, and looks like she belongs on a runway in 25 minutes. Despite their claim that it's for all hair kind, it's not. I'm disappointed in its performance on my hair, but it's great for her 1b/c hair.

I was so excited to receive the shark after seeing all types of ads about it. It is the worst dryer I have ever purchased. It is not hot enough, it made my hair frizzy, and took twice as long to dry. I will stick to my Revlon brush hair dyer that I paid only 39.99 for. Defelntily not worth the hype and too expensive.

For the price and noise level, I would get a cheaper hot airbrush and separate straightener. This did not straighten my hair enough, and the heat was not enough to give it a curl under on the end or nything either.
