I purchased the shark flex styler in 2023. It was absolutely amazing and performed flawlessly for about a year. When it works, it is fabulous. Loved how it styled my hair and it was a dream to work with. In the last year, it had become glitchy, weaker, and performed so-so. It would frequently overheat and short out in the middle of drying and need to be unplugged and plugged back in to restart. I was ready to throw in the towel with this dryer, when I read in the reviews a tip that said the filter just needed cleaned out. Cleaning the filter brought it back to performing as new and now I feel bad for the moments of frustration I had with it when the fix was so easy. Honestly, after seeing how dirty the filter had gotten, I’m impressed it worked at all the last few months. Would definitely recommend this dryer. Just keep your filter clean.

I first saw this at Ulta for 299$. I wanted this SOOO bad, but 299$!! Yikes! Saved some money and ordered it on Amazon instead. This product it is AMAZING! Compact and so functional! The best blowout I have ever gotten! So much volume, no frizz and short overall drying time! The curling tool is AWESOME as well! You watch it grab the hair and wrap itself around the tool (there is a learning curve with this! Start at the ends)! I did a blowout with the full round brush and then used the curl tool from the framed face pieces. I used a little after shine serum and that is IT! DONE! If I had to say a downfall, it would be, the shipping box, was the OG box. Meaning leaving it on a porch, everyone knows what it is, increasing the chance of theft. 2) Your hair does get pulled a little in between where the blow dryer contexts to the attachment, but overall not a huge deal to me. If you were to be more gentle (I am on the rougher side with my own head), it would probably not happen.

Love, love this hairdryer. Dries my hair quickly and all the attachments work great for either straight or curly hair. It is light weight and easy to use. If I was to say anything negative, the hair dryer is a little loud.

Firstly, let me address some of the odd reviews I've seen. Yes, it gets hot enough for people with naturally curly hair to also get their hair straight and smooth or straight and bouncy with the attachments. It allows people with thick or course hair to use the curling barrels. If you think that makes it dangerous, you maybe shouldn't operate any appliances that get hot without adults supervision. This tool comes with a styling guide telling you the ideal average setting for each thing and how to adjust it for your hair type. Thinner hair, turn the heat down by one, frizzier hair, turn down the air by one, thicker coily hair, turn the heat up by one, etc. It is not the responsibility of any hair company to learn your hair type for you and make a tool especially for you at the same price of a mass-marketed tool for people who can figure out their hair type BEFORE buying things for said head of hair. Also, something not getting hot doesn't make it better for your hair. You can ruin a meal by slowcooking it, you can ruin clothing by putting it in the dryer on low heat for a really long time, you can slowcook your hair by using low heat when you shouldn't and using it a longer period of time than you should need. I can't imagine why this isn't a normal chain of logic but it isn't so here we go! I got the T3 Aire 360 first but, because this was only $20 more and came with all of these attachments, I knew I needed to try it and compare. Well, I kept doing one side of my hair with T3 and one with this tool and they never did look very different. The Shark side had more volume but wasn't as smooth, so okay, hit it with a little Amalfi Gold Hair Serum. The T3 side was smoother but didn't have as much volume so, okay, hold at the roots longer. However, the T3 brush did NOT get my roots all the way to the scalp, so there was still waviness at the root and I hated it. The Shark Flexstyle performed BEAUTIFULLY in that using the oval brush attachment got everything unless it was an area I couldn't see as well, and then going over those areas with the paddle brush attachment fixed it without me having to get out a flat iron. The wands do a nice job and they last longer, the shape that they create lasts 3 days the way I do it, which is a little involved but works nicely. And hey, I only have to do it twice a week so I try not to complain about it. However, their barrels are short. I will be ordering more attachments, including the thinner barrels to go along with all of these, but I'm knocking off a full star for the fact that the main Coanda hair tool manufacturers have all figured out the beauty of longer barrels and Shark still has to catch up on that point. The longer barrels don't make a better curl, but they make it a bit easier to do a lot of long hair, and I have SO MUCH hair! Again, not expecting a custom-made hair tool for the price of a mass-marketed one, but the other guys have figured out longer barrels, Shark can catch up annnnny day now. All in all, I LOVE this tool and find use for all of the attachments. I have even used to diffuser, though I have found curl training and diffusing to be tediously task-heavy and time consuming. Nevertheless, it's so great to finally have a tool that has a diffuser attachment for times when I want to have my curls. I recommend this highly and really hope to see longer barrels one day.

FYI, it was a learning curve to use on my longer hair. Patience will give you better results, parting smaller sections for the amount of hair that I have and was able to wrap most of my hair. Without the concentrator attachement, I was able to dry my long hair in less than 5mins and then used the oval brush to brush it out. I have been looking for a styling system that works well with my longer fine and thinner hair, that my arm can maneuver and is a good price point. The Shark was more affordable(at the time) and does that same thing that a Dyson AirWrap does, it just has a thermistor that measure the temperature more frequently to provide a more constant and safe temps. It has 3 different heat settings, as well as 3 flow speeds and a cold shot button. Yes, the FlexStyler will be heavier at 1.5lbs while others will be a bit lighter. The curls look great and with the new design of the barrels, it seems like its distributing the heat more evenly. The attachments were easy to place and to remove. I DON'T like that the finish is easy to scuff when they rub against one another. especially the brush against the barrels. I like that the cord is long enough at 104in and that it rotates when you use it. A factor that had me concerned about the FlexStyler was the sound it would make. To me the sound was tolerable. Just keep your hand away from the intake base of the wand, it helps.
