I’m taking a few minutes to write a review based on reaction from some of the other reviews I saw posted when I was shopping for a chair mat. I wanted to help out people that may be stressing out from some saying “looks nice but slides all over”. It doesn’t, read below to help you decide. I have been working from my home office for the last few months. So I needed a mat to put down on my hardwood floors to protect them from wear from my office chair. I wanted a clear mat so it doesn’t detract from the hard wood flooring. I also wanted one with a “lip” to go under the desk for my feet as well as a surface area for the chair. I found this 47”x36” one in the SHAREWIN Chair Mats for hard wood floors. Price was great at $26.99 and perfect footprint for looks and performance in a home office. So what’s the problem? Well, I kept seeing mixed reviews...some satisfied but some saying it slips and moves around too much. Oh no..who wants a chair mat that slips and moves around. Argh! Well, I decided to take a chance. I mean, at that price, it’s not a huge deal if it doesn’t work out. So, I place the order, I get the mat and now it’s time to put it to the test. First I unroll the mat and lay it down to straighten out and “uncurl”. They are shipped rolled up and wrapped, so they have to settle and lay down (time varies but usually by morning at room temperature they are flat). I put books on the corners of mine to help it flatten out. As I was doing that I did notice it seemed to slide around a bit. But, I gave it overnight to settle. The next day I pick up the books and it’s nice and flat. Now it’s on to the “slipping” test. I place it in front of my desk and *important* put the SLICK clear side down and the slightly textured/frosted side up. I put my chair on the mat. I rolled my chair around, pushed on the mat with my feet...and nothing, it stayed in place and worked perfectly fine...all day. Success! My search was over and I paid less than I had planned. Another great product found on Amazon. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and still no problems. If you pick up the sides and pull up it will lose contact with the floor and slide wherever you move it. Then simply place it back down flat on the floor and it stays in place. Don’t worry about people saying it slides all over. If it’s sliding on them then maybe it’s a polish or coating or something on their floor (or they have the wrong side down). This mat itself has no problems, it grips the floor and works well. So hopefully that helps out anyone on the fence like I was about it. Great price, great product, no worries. ... show more

It protects your hardwood floors, but it looked terrible after 5 minutes of use. In the photos you can see how it immediately gets scratched up when your office chair rolls on it. Pretty disappointing.

We went from carpeted floors to laminate floors. I sat down in the desk chair and went flying across the room. I immediately went onto Amazon to find chair mats. I found what I wanted and then looked at the reviews. The suggestion made in more than one review was to put the mat out in the sun so it will flatten out (it comes rolled up). I did that. Never had one second's problems. The mat laid out flat. I do not roll across the floor any more and I can easily roll the chair where ever I want to. It is thick enough and looks like it will be sturdy and last a long time. The price is right. ... show more

I would consider returning this except that I can't be without something to protect my hardwood floors that started to splinter under my chair. I am going to have to find and order something better however because this mat is so thin that it keeps buckling up under me due to normal rolling back and forth in my chair. What's the point of a mat that won't stay flat under the chair due to normal use? ... show more

I bought this to protect new vinyl plank flooring in my basement workshop/office. I didn't have a problem with it laying flat, just put it down and started using it right away. After 24 hours in 65 degree temp it was fine. I've only been using it for a couple of months so can't really say anything about durability but I don't see any signs of wear and tear yet. The mat is fairly high quality compared to others I've seen in the same price range. It did not need to be heated to lay flat - it flattened out on its own within a day. It protects the floor like you'd expect of a chair mat. Note, however, that this mat does not stay in one place. It lacks sufficient friction on the underside to prevent it from moving around on hard floors. Every time I move the chair, the mat moves with it slightly. Over the course of a day it will be completely crooked and have to be moved back into place, quite annoyingly. I may try some double-sided tape or something similar to get it to stay in place. If you are using this on carpet, you probably won't have this problem. ... show more

I just received this mat late yesterday and haven't used it yet but I noticed 3 things right away. The clear color is very clear, not yellowish or murky and it looks really nice! It also seems to be sturdy, I rolled it out and it laid flat almost immediately. I left it laying flat overnight and this morning it's totally flat, even the corners. One less than positive thing, although it says it's 36 inches, it's not. It's about 35", maybe a tad more. I bought this to line a playpen I'm using to house an animal and I really needed it to be the full 36" inches. Other than that, I would've given it 5 stars. I am still going to keep it and just improvise. It looks like it would be great for its intended purpose! ... show more
