While I mainly got this for the steak knives and honing steel, the star of the show are the shears - literally called “bone scissors” per the description, these things could easily lop off fing- umm, cut through chicken bones, ha. I’ve had other knife sets in the past with included kitchen shears, but nothing like these. At 8.2oz, they are a heavy duty no joke. Moving on to the rest of the knife set I think my next favorite is the carving blade, as I found it to be perfect for cutting through melons. The steak knives were a slight let down for me as I found the serrated edge a bit too much - they saw through meat just fine, but I also felt it tore it up a bit doing so. The rest of the set including the honing steel I don’t have any complaints about. All pieces are full tang which is a huge requirement in my knife book. And since these have wood handles- definitely don’t put them in the dishwasher, and you shouldn’t be doing with any knife to begin with. Upon first washing of all the knifes I filled a sink with hot soapy water and unintentionally let them sit for a few minutes when I got side tracked. When I came back the water had a pink tinge to it, from the wood handles leaching dye. So just a heads up if you notice the same thing, don’t be alarmed. Since then I’ve made sure to not let them sit in any water, during washing or waiting to be washed. Overall this is a really, really nice quality set of knives for the price. The block is heavy and gorgeous, you get a good array of different blade styles, and then the aesthetic of the high carbon etched steel is the cherry on top. If you’re looking for a gorgeous, quality knife set for around $100- look no further than this set. Highly recommend it!

These knives are not fabricated from highend super steel, they're not meticulously hand sharpened one at a time and they're not of heirloom quality such that that your heirs will be fighting over them after your demise. But, all that aside, these knives are a stunning bargain at the Amazon price and likely as good or better than anything you can buy at your local department store. The knives come very sharp from the factory and hold their edge very well. The wood handles are both beautiful and very well shaped & comfortable. My only quibble with this very complete set is the faux Damascus pattern laser etched on the blades. I realize that tastes vary, but I'd very much prefer to not have a fake Damascus pattern applied to my knives non-Damascus blades.

I've had a couple of sets of good knives, or at least I thought they were, in the past. My sons always take the biggest knife out of my set so I won't cut off an appendage or anything. I ended up giving my whole set of good knives to one of my sons when I'd told him he could have half of them, but he was in a hurry, we both got confused, and he ended up with the whole set. These knives are like nothing I've ever seen. First, the box these come in is heavy, very heavy for a small box, at least to me. Then I got the knives out, and they are totally beautiful. These knives are made of Japanese high carbon steel, combined with advanced forging technique and a 15°cutting edge, which all makes for an excellent set of knives. I've never seen knife blades like this in person, and they are beautiful. They're made with premium engraved blades, and the colors this process produces are beautiful on the knife blades. The listing information tells us that these beautiful knives were made with a "classic triple-riveted handle design and high-quality pakkawood, combined with the full Tang design, which gives them excellent durability." The knives themselves, the ones you'll use most often in regular cooking, aren't very heavy but do have a nice heft to them. The block is also very well done. Here's what's in the box: 1 Chef Knife, 1 Bread Knife, 1 Carving Knife, 1 Santoku knife (I don't even know what that is but will figure it out), 1 Fileting Knife, 1 Utility Knife, 1 Fruit Knife, 6 Steak Knife, 1 Knife Sharpener, 1 Scissors, and 1 Wooden Knife. All of this company's products have a lifetime guarantee. These sharp knives, especially the medium sized ones, are so easy to use if you want to cut or trim meat. These make that chore effortless. Unless, of course, you bring home a cow. Excellent product, a beautiful, solid, very well made knife set that comes with a block that's also very pretty. There are 16 pieces in this set, including the block, and I've already listed the different types of knives and how many you get. There are six steak knives in this set. These are the most beautiful, most sturdy, best cutting knives I've ever seen, and I've been around a while. The set is heavy in the box, but the block is in there. The knives aren't too heavy, but they have a nice heft to them. These excellent knives make it so easy to cut meat or anything else you want to cut. This will probably be the last set of knives most people will ever buy, because these are wonderful knives, very well made, and they're sharp.

I have gone through so many set of knives that I decided to get something a little more robust. This is a wonderful full set of high quality knives. It includes all the knives you would need for different kitchen tasks and a very solid pair of kitchen shears. Even though these are not Damascus steel they have etching that simulates it and is very nice looking. They are extremely sharp and the wood handles are very comfortable. If taken care of I expect these to last a very long time.
