  • Great for walking
I'm 69 years old, 6'2 and 175 pounds. I can't run anymore because my knees don't hold up but still wanted a cardiovascular workout. I bought this unit because it fit perfect in the place i needed to put it and it folds and unfolds very fast and easy. I've had this for 3 months, use it everyday for 60 minutes at 3.5 - 4 mph at incline which gets my heart rate over 130. It's perfect for that type of workout. I do jog on it at times but I would not run on it, even if I could. My only complaint is that this model does not have a pause button. ... show more

  • WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS TREADMILL FOR HIGH INTENSITY WORKOUTS
This is my second review of the Serene Life Treadmill. In my first review, I rated it as five stars principally because the company gave me a new treadmill under the manufacturer’s warranty because the running belt was moving erratically, particularly at speeds of 5 mph or less. In that review, I noted that the new replacement treadmill was working perfectly. At that time, my normal use of the treadmill was for about 30 minutes, with 22 minutes at 5 mph and 3 minutes at 7 mph, and the remaining 5 minutes at a slower pace. But after about three months with the replacement treadmill, I increased the time of my 7 mph workout from 3 minutes to 12 to 15 minutes, and my total workout time to about 45 minutes. After a few weeks at this more intense pace, however, the treadmill’s support metal band under the frame broke apart and the support legs on the back of the treadmill collapsed with me on it. I am 5’10.5” and weigh 175 pounds with virtually no fat, so my size and weight had nothing to do with the collapse. As a result, I fell rather hard on the running belt, scrapping my knees and elbows. After I reset the back legs of the treadmill and got back on it, I found out that the motor would simply cut off after a few minutes. To restart it, I would have to dismount and press the restart button to get the running belt moving again. I had a treadmill repairman diagnose the problem who said that the motor had burned out. He told me that the total repair bill would be almost as much as my original purchase price of the treadmill. Since the replacement treadmill was still under warranty, I notified the company of the collapse and burnt-out motor. Although not initially, the company ultimately agreed to send me a second new replacement treadmill. With this second new treadmill, I was anxious to get back to my high-intensity running workouts. Unfortunately, this second new treadmill had a number of manufacturing defects right from the start. For one thing, the running belt would make a squeaking noise under the frame when I was running on it. It sounded like two metal pieces rubbing against each other. Also, when I increased the speed to 7 mph and ran for a few minutes, the treadmill motor would, like my first replacement treadmill, cut off; and I had to get off it and press the restart button to get the motor working again. Once again, I notified the company of these new problems, but this time they told me, notwithstanding that the replacement treadmill was still under warranty, I would have to get a treadmill repair shop to diagnose and fix these problems. I then had two different treadmill repairmen come out to diagnose and try to fix these problems for a total cost of over $250. The first was able to reduce the sound of the squeaking noises. The second, who repaired the treadmills of a premium gym in the area, removed, adjusted, and lubricated the running belt, rollers, and motor belt. While this repair overhaul helped a bit, the motor would still cut off when I went at 7 mph for more than 4-5 minutes. So, I now use the treadmill only at speeds of 5 mph or less. Ultimately, I plan to get a new and more durable treadmill. After using three different Serene Life treadmills for over a year, I believe I have a fair amount of experience in assessing their overall quality and durability. In short, they will probably be just fine if you intend to use them for moderate running workouts. And, as I said in my first review, they are very easy to assemble and their price, at least at the beginning of the pandemic, was quite competitive. But if you are someone like me who intends to use it for high-intensity running workouts, this treadmill is not for you. The various treadmill repairmen that worked on my Serene Life treadmills all said that it is, in their opinion, just not designed and built for high-intensity workouts. One of them also suggested its motor should have more “horsepower” for these types of intense workouts. So, take with a grain of salt the many reviews, including my own former review, that have rated the Serene Life Treadmill five stars. You need to know how long a reviewer has actually used the treadmill and also how he or she is actually using the treadmill to assess its accuracy and, most importantly, its applicability to your own intended use. If you intend to use it for high-intensity workouts like me, be extremely wary. In the end, I struggled to decide whether I should rate the treadmill with two or just one star. Because I am unable to use the treadmill for the type of high-intensity workouts that I purchased and intended to use it, I believe it warrants only one star. However, the company did give me two replacement treadmills under the warranty. So, I thought that should be taken into account as a positive factor in my review. Thus, I decided on giving it two stars, but with the recognition, I still cannot use this treadmill for the purpose for which I purchased it. ... show more

  • Pretty good treadmill - probably not best for taller people
So far I’ve had this treadmill for about 3 months and for the most part I’ve used it pretty consistently (about 4 times a week for 5-20minutes at a time) and it still seems to be running well. The assembly took me about 30 minutes and I was able to do it on my own. What I was looking for when purchasing a treadmill was that it needed to fold and be a little smaller so it was easier to store and I wanted to use the treadmill for walking. With all that being said for my uses this treadmill has been great ! I’m 5’4 and it’s a perfect size for me, but with that being said my 6’2 boyfriend didn’t find it as comfortable to use because he has such long legs. Basically his feet would either hit the plastic in the front when he walked or he would accidentally push the track back faster then the motor and that would cause him to be unbalanced and be worried about falling. Based off his experience I don’t think this treadmill would be good for taller people but again for me it’s been great. He did try running on it and said absolutely not lol I mainly use this treadmill from speed 3-4 but I have tried it at the faster speeds and I just didn’t feel comfortable because it seemed a little wobbly/not super sturdy. I think if you are shorter and looking for a small, easy to assemble, easy to store, walking treadmill then this is the one for you. If you are looking for a treadmill to run on and share with your much taller spouse this one probably isn’t for you. As far as the motor on this treadmill goes so far I haven’t had any issues but it does seem a bit weak so I do worry it might burn out in the future but so far I’ve had no issues with it. Overall I’m happy with my purchase and think this is a pretty good treadmill for the price but I don’t think it’s for everyone. ... show more

  • Bang for your buck
Just purchased. Assembly was easy and straight forward. Seems to be working as it should. Hard to review without wear and tear time test, but seems to be good for the price. Had a $800 treadmill a few years ago, had a lot of bells and whistles but didn’t want all that and didn’t want to spend a fortune. This treadmill has the features I was looking for without breaking the bank. ... show more

  • Great for walking/jogging
Edit: So about a year after purchase we had some issues with our treadmill but it was still under warrenty. We reached out to the company and they were great. They had us try some things first to fix it but then sent us a whole new treadmill, and rather quickly too. I am definitely impressed with their customer service! Edit: I've had this treadmill almost 1 year later and have a few things to write. I will soon be trying to contact the company while this is under warrenty because something is wrong with the treadmill. The belt is like getting stuck and rubbing and I can't barely run let alone walk. I have tried lubricating the belt and at first it helped but not anymore. I also, feel like the incline on this treadmill is so minimal, and the heart rate monitor is worthless. Great for walking and jogging. The heart rate sensors on this are not great at all, and I do wish the inclines went steaper. The calorie monitor on this is very off compared to my fitness tracker too. All in all, it's a good treadmill for the price and moderate workouts but only ok when it comes to a treadmill overall. ... show more
