If you live alone, it is really silly to constantly run a massive central air unit. All I need is the space around me to be cool or warm, not the entire home! This has some great direction louvers so I can guide the air flow directly onto me. Setup was a piece of cake. Be sure to attach the hose-to-unit adapter first, then the hose-to-window adapter. You're going to have a thin piece of plastic and some cracks for air to escape afterwards. This can result in both heat loss and noise to the environment, Here is an excellent remedy to both those problems https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VZBVC95?ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details&th=1 .The description was not clear about the warranty but it comes with a LIFETIME WARRANTY registration card.     • Worth the price...
This has been functioning quite well. It seems to be very efficient at getting the room I have it in down to temperature. It doesn't seem to kick on as much as another portable AC I have. That could mean any number of things but I am liking how it is working so far. It also seems pretty quiet especially on the lower fan setting. I live in a very arid climate and have not had to drain even after a couple weeks of continued use. You mileage may vary. It rolls around fairly easily on the casters. I use the sleep timer on the remote and it has turned off the machine without issue. Installation was no different than any other portable AC. Pretty simple and straight forward. One downside is that the remote only has a toggle for the power button. I generally like a remote that has both an on and off button or at least sends a different signal to the AC. That way I can use Home Assistant and a temperature gauge in the room to turn it on and off as needed. I can still make it work, it would just be more fool proof with dedicated buttons/signals. I have another AC unit that has such a remote and it is great. This remote also does not seem to actually sense temperature and communicate back with the head unit regularly. It would be better if it did because you could place it across the room and get better cooling profile. I have not had occasion to use the heater function yet, but as long as it is fairly efficient I will be more than happy. For the price, this seems like a great AC/Heater. ... show more

    • Good little portable AC/heat pump but could use a few design changes

My house has central air and heat but it's almost impossible to keep every room at a comfortable temperature at the same time. When the upstairs is comfortable, the downstairs is either freezing or baking. So, I'd recently bought a much larger (12,000 BTU) SereneLife combination AC/heat pump for my living room and that worked fine for the larger space. I was thrilled to get a chance to review this smaller unit, which I ordered for one of the bedrooms. It is much smaller than the one I have in the living room, which is nice, because it doesn't take up much space. It also cools the approximately 160 square foot bedroom well. We tried the heater, just to make sure it works, and it does, but we won't be using it yet. It's still August. A few things kept me from giving this unit 5 stars: - The exhaust hose is a different diameter than typical. It's slightly wider than 5.9 inch standard which will make it difficult to replace when it inevitably needs to be. - the warranty is unclear. In the box, there's a slip of paper that says 'LIFETIME WARRANTY Register within 7 days." So, I registered and the screen told me I had a one-year warranty. Really? Which is it? - The drain hose outlet is at the very bottom of the unit (and the included hose is way too short and flimsy). I always drain my portable ACs through a hole I drill into the door/window panel but I won't be able to do that with this one because in order to drain, the hose has to point down, not up. - The selling page says both that it will cool a 300 sq ft max room in one bit of text and in another it says 350 sq ft max. Which is it? None of these are deal-breakers but I wish SereneLife had designed the 8,000 BTU in the same way as the 12,000 BTU, which I love, and I wish it gave consistent information about its warranty and capacity. I recently picked up the SereneLife 8000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Heat, and I’ve been very impressed with its overall performance.
