Description

This home safe, fireproof and waterproof, protects what matters while critical time passes, the temperature climbs and emergency crews make their way to the scene. It doesn’t take much time learn the value of rigorous fire testing; a house fire can reach more than 1,100 °F in just 3.5 minutes. This fire box is UL Classified to protect valuables for 1 hour at 1700° and ETL verified to protect digital media for 1 hour. Additional water protection (ETL verified for 5 inches for 24 hours) means safe box can withstand not only flames, but also the water or fire retardant that will extinguish it. It also means the fireproof safe box can be bolted down in the basement, limiting any water risks. Basement placement is popular because it means the fire safe box won’t fall from higher levels in the event of structural collapse, and the bolt down kit makes it possible to store safe almost anywhere. The newly designed bolt down kit maintains the integrity of the safe’s water protection. The handles are easy to operate, and the safe door audibly confirms when it’s closed. Lithium batteries are included, giving a 5+ year lifespan.

very sturdy, solid safe with a good amount of room. came with a shelf but i have it door up for now, so not using the shelf. some people said it's not waterproof if you mount it because you have to drill holes, but according to the manual the included plugs will keep it from leaking. i haven't mounted mine, it's heavy enough (55lbs empty) with stuff in it that if someone actually broke in and got to it they would have a heavy load. seems very secure. no problems with keypad open. comes with 2 keys to manually open it if the batteries die or should the digital keypad fail. no problems with warping or anything like some reviews state. the code is factory preset and that cannot be changed. you can program other codes of your choice, but the factory code will always work, you can't overwrite it. the batteries are supposed to last 5 years. i open it several times a week, but not daily. bought some spare batteries just in case, to have on hand (can buy them anywhere, not expensive or specialized). it's not the cheapest safe out there, but the reviews on the lower cost ones really made them sound pretty useless. this one seems to be very secure, should withstand fire and water. of course if you are really wanting to protect valuables or papers from fire and/or water damage, you should seal them in a fire/waterproof case too. heat - even if it doesn't breach the safe - can damage things. ... show more

Practical solution for normal household. It's not tested against it's true ability yet, but looks solid made and useful for smaller application. Size is perfect to hide in the closet. Locking mechanism is great and easy to adopt. We haven't tried to break it yet, but that would be true test. It's transport friendly so not that heavy but we kept solid gym weights for our application. ... show more

I just got my safe and started the set up process following the instructions per the manual and everything seemed to be perfectly Ok until it didn’t… the safe box is heavy and I decided to place it on the floor, it is difficult to pull it out of the box avoiding not to damage the safe and not to tear the cardboard box: I had to carefully slide it sideways ad then pull it back up to is final location. Mine came without any visible dents and it is very sturdy, heavy, insulation and materials seem of good quality and is not a safe that you can simply pull up and run away with it in any case (approximately 55 pounds, thus heavy built). It brings security bolts should you decide to anchor it to the floor or wall but note that this will impact the waterproof and fire resistant features of the product since you will have to drill holes on the finished metal to do so. Before you set up your mind on deciding its final location- please be aware that inside the safety box, once you open it, there are some round fire resistant pads that you may wish to stick to the four supporting points underneath the safe, which is very useful if you’d like to avoid scratching your floor (i.e. wood or laminated surfaces) Instructions on the user’s manual are very straightforward on using the factory code to open the safe and on how to program your own basic and secondary user codes, as needed. Nonetheless, I confronted a major problem in attempting firsthand to close it -and was almost overcome with panic when I realized this has exactly the cause for one of the low rating reviews from a previous user, with video, narrating how the bolt mechanism wouldn’t engage to lock the safe’s door by just following the instructions on the manual-. I was preparing myself to deal with the inconvenience of returning such a mammoth product, but decided to do some research on how to solve the problem. It turns out that is luckily not a situation related to the electronic digital mechanism but rather a more simple one: lack of lubricant to the bolts and upper door latch that must easily and automatically respond at closing the door in order for the bolts to engage properly. This was easily solved by applying some drops of WD-40 lubricant which frees sticky mechanisms. Done this, the digital mechanism of opening and locking the door started working as intended and without any further problems at continued several attempts. This leads to a conclusion that such an annoyance could easily be averted if the user’s manual made some reference at the simple trouble solution or better, if quality control at the plant took special care in supervising the mechanism is totally stick free before delivery. The safe brings its own override keys (inside, and don’t leave them in once closed! ) as an alternative way of opening and I was pleasantly surprised to receive one adjustable tray with mine which provides a better way for organizing stuff and valuables. There are convenient additions as divider shelves and security inner box that can also be bought separately( refer to the manual for further details, also available at Amazon. In conclusion, the product seems to be a good choice for a sturdy waterproof and fire resistant safe; ideal for personal purposes and documents, not recommended for prescription medications or guns; the kind of option that is worth its value considering the features provided. I will update my review in the future should other issues arise, but happy with my choice and the right size for my needs; it looks great and design wise has a modern feel to it which conveys quality and complements my closet display perfectly! ... show more

First off I liked this safe so much I reordered it. But if I have to rate the one I had it is really a one star. Everything was great but the door would not shut and stay closed. Contacted Sentry. They were helpful asked lots of questions then told me to return it. Thank goodness Amazon offered UPS pickup cause this thing weighs 55 Pounds. I expect the replacement to be a 5 star rating. I like the fact I can use a code or a key. Plenty of room. Has hooks on the door for keys. It is substantial. ... show more

Excellent small home safe for important papers, jewelry, cash. Easy to put in your code, and you can add additional codes for others who need access.
