Someone expecting a fireproof safe should look elsewhere, if you're looking for a more than sturdy gun cabinet that has a lot of great features and multiple ways to open, you'll like this. It is much sturdier than some of the cheaper gun cabinets I have seen and it does the job I need it to, keep my guns safe from the average thief and children. I have 5 long rifles, most all with some form of optics, along with a safe organizer with 2 pistols and it opens and closes perfectly. One thing I will note is you may need to keep some of the foam from the packaging and cut it to fit the bottom of the safe, as the carpeting is just a cut out piece of unpadded carpet. Last thing I will add is that I really love the added internal safe, its roomy and it perfect for storing passports, birth certificates, and other important documents you don't want just lying around. Plenty of room for a full size pistol as well. Overall, great safe for the money and you will not be disappointed.

Was shopping for a gun safe (residential security container). Wasn’t quite ready to jump to $900 Steelwater or better (more expensive) container (400lbs). Looked at a BJ’s $500 option as well – but they wanted $200 shipping! Which put us in range of their $600 locally in stock safe (nice safe)..that weighs 500lbs! We live in a somewhat rural area with not many options for local purchase. Additionally, we wanted a safe/container for the upstairs bedroom – so the thought of hauling 500lbs up a non-straight set of stairs introduced other concerns for us. So we decided to give the Moutec a try. First of all – free shipping via Amazon – can’t complain about that! Second, it is in the 80-90lb class – so easy for me to bring upstairs by myself with a std hand truck that I have! I found the item very well packaged with only one small ½ inch blemish (paint scrape) on a back edge corner – not noticeable and completely acceptable. No assembly required. Had convenient mounting holes for the floor or back (wall) – I used the back for wall mount. Due to my baseboard that I didn’t want to move or cut, I used a wood spacer between the back of the safe and the wall with long toggle bolt fasteners. The toggle bolts needed a 1/2inch hole and the pre stamped holes in the safe were just shy of that (fine for the very robust included fasteners). I can tell you that drilling the holes bigger was not easy – you’re not going to drill through this container with your standard household drill and bits. But I did manage to make them just a hair larger for my toggle bolts with the right equipment. I added an inexpensive motion sensitive light to the inside and I had a couple small adhesive bumpers in my toolbox that I added to the door frame to ‘soften’ the door closing ‘clang’. The adjustable gun rack was actually pretty useful for my rifles. I certainly appreciate the silent mode of the key pad. The key pad works like a champ, but honestly it doesn’t instill a ton of confidence (fairly flexible). Some very light backlighting would have been a nice touch for the key pad. Maybe I should have gone with the biometric access version. The handle and lock knob feel sturdy. The internal lock box is a nice touch. Overall, for the price point, I’m extremely happy with this purchase and would recommend it.

This cabinet fits my needs. I wanted something with a locking setup, fairly decent security (this is not a heavy duty safe that weighs 500lbs) and a good size. I have the 5 gun model and it has good room for my setup. The inside cabinet does have a moveable gun rack made of foam, I wish it would move further down, the range is about 6 inches up and down. I plan to purchase a small shelf to put on the bottom to tackle that issue. I do like the fact it comes basic, you can modify it with shelves with magnetic backing. the pricing makes sense, because you will need to buy some other items to compliment the cabinet, so the money "saved" can be used to purchase other items. The inside little locking shelf is a decent size, can hold my essentials. I purchased battery operated lights to help see inside. The mounting screws to secure the cabinet to the wall didn't work for me, I went to the hardware store to get drywall secure bolts. Overall this is a good choice if you are setting up your first time gun cabinet and looking to have safety as a must.

I did quite a bit of research into gun lockers/gun safes prior to purchasing this one. I live in a 1bed apartment and just needed a better way to secure my firearms all in one place. This safe was ideal for my needs. I can fit an AKM, AR-15 and Rem 870 shotgun perfectly. I can also fit my handguns in, however the full sizes required the mags removed to clear the door. I also did have to reinforce the pistol holder with more foam for my full metal handguns as they weighed down a little too much and wouldn’t clear the door either. Rifles fit great, again door wouldn’t close with mags in, however, due to my states laws technically the ammo and firearms have to be locked/stored separately. That’s where the little cabinet comes into play. Since it technically locks separately I can just store my mags in there. You can quickly access with the keypad, no problems. I typically keep one firearm out whether it’s my home defense or carry weapon so immediate access wasn’t a huge requirement for me, but you can get into it in less than 5 seconds if needed. It’s a fair size, so check dimensions and definitely secure it to the studs in the wall or floor. Otherwise it’ll topple over. I did have to go buy some wood specific bolts for the studs as they only provided concrete expansion bolts. No big deal though. Now keep in mind this mainly serves as a gun locker. Yes, a child or any person couldn’t gain access to it without the code or backup key, but in the event of a break in a skilled thief could bust into this. Again, skilled thief with tools. A snatch and grab type probably couldn’t get in without spending some time on it. If you want something fireproof or theft resistant just prepare to spend over a grand. If you need a basic gun cabinet that is secure for a cheaper price this is for you.

This safe was perfect for my husband and all his guns. It was easy to set up, sturdy, and the size was great. Our intention was to buy this to keep the guns safe from our toddler and it works perfect. You have the option to use a key or a code and we decided to use the key so our son couldn't get in. It almost reminds me of a large locker closet with a lock.

Very nice safe for the money. It fits perfectly in the corner of my spare room. The metal seems to be of a pretty high quality and gauge, and the latches/bolts provide a good amount of security. The keypad pin is extremely easy to setup and put in, and there is a spare key and extra battery backup in the event that the keypad battery dies. I also like how it comes with a pistol rest and shelf with multiple height options already installed, just move the shelf as needed. My only very minor gripe is that the keypad and latch/handle that you turn on the safe feels like cheap plastic. Other than that, it's a solid 4.5/5.

I've been using the safe for few weeks and and it works good. No issues so far. Package: It comes in a well padded package with protection on the edges and corners. Mounting: It needs to be mounted to a wall and/or the floor - there are 2 holes in the back side (so it could be screwed into a stud) and 4 in the bottom. Considering the width of the safe and 16 inch distance between the studs, you may not be able to put it into a corner (unless you could mount it to the floor or you have just right distance from the corner to the first stud). If it's not mounted, then there is a big chance for it to lean forward and fall when the door is open, because the door is quite heavy. There is mounting hardware (6 or 7 metal bolts and anchors), but they seem to be applicable for concrete walls/floor. Mounting it to the wood (stud, floor) may require getting different hardware. Keys and locks: it comes with 2 sets (pairs) of keys - one set for the small compartment and another - for emergency, if battery is dead or code is lost. There is a default factory code in case if the custom one gets reset (due to a low battery level or some other reason). Locks are quite basic and could be opened by a pro (especially the one in the small compartment inside the safe), but they are good enough to keep you children and family members away from the contents of the safe. So, the safe will stop someone who is not dedicated enough to cut it open from its side with an angle grinder or steal that heavy item by disconnecting it from its mounts. There is no fireproofing whatsoever, but it guess it doesn't claim to be fireproof :) Internal mounts: there is a slotted pad for holding your rifles, but the height cannot be adjusted. An AR15 pistol with 10.5 inch barrel won't reach the pads. So they are good for longer rifles (I guess should be ok for an AR rifle with 16+ inch barrel length. Customer service and warranty: when you receive the safe, there should be a card for registering and extending your warranty. I haven't used the warranty yet (hope I won't need to use it), but after registering I was contacted by the customer service representative and they were glad enough to offer me a door organizer for the safe free of charge. I've received it and attached to the door - it holds 2 handguns and has few more pockets for other stuff (documents, magazines).
