It's been a hot minute (decades, lol) since I've done any welding, but I found myself in need of a small stick welder and this fit the bill perfectly. I thought it seemed like a good welder, and it works great. Can't beat the value. My opinion of this welder were further validated when I talked to a friend of mine who IS a professional welder, and he said he has this very welder and it's a great unit. I like it, esp for $43 bucks. This is my first "electric lunch box" welder. Worthless all plastic face shield, but 10 rods. Ground cable is 4 ft long and stinger is 6 ft. 1 meter AC cord. On/off switch and 1 knob. First 1/2 of instructions are what not to do and other half is zilch. Can't wait to give er a whirl. Oh, then there are the designer gloves. Assorted leather scraps sewn between fingers with a canvas body. Really cool! ... show more

I purchased this welder to handle a small job that I'd have had to pay someone three times as much to do. After playing around with it, I was able to weld the pipe rail I was working on, pretty effectively. This is a pretty easy to use welder for someone who's just starting out welding. The face shield is useless, and the amperage needs to be dialed higher than you would traditionally (it may just be my machine), but it's pretty good overall. My neighbor told me about this mini welder, and I thought it was a joke. Been a welder for over 25 years, mig, tig, stick, and heliarc, this is no joke. It won't do large jobs, but will suffice 90% of home shop needs. Used this to fix thin metal and also heavy rebar, it just works. The best part is versatility, only needs 120 volts, my Lincoln welder needs 240 volts, so it stays where there is an outlet. This one goes anywhere you have 120 volt outlets, works best on 20 or 30 amp breaker vs 50/60 amp circuit for larger welder. The accessories that come with it are a joke, but the little welder is the real deal. ... show more

I have a small inverter welder that looks very similar to this one. Same size but it comes with a 10 foot power cable and 10 foot electrode cables. It’s 120/240 and it welds like nobody’s business. I’ve been welding for 45 years and my little one welds better than my Lincoln 225. Has hot start, no stick, all kinds of stuff. So I was on a trip and my trailer broke and I didn’t have any way to fix it so I ordered one of these welders and had it the next day. I could not maintain an arc with the stupid thing. It stuck and stuck and stuck and stuck, and finally, it would draw an arc which lasted for about three seconds, and then it just went out. No matter how close I got the tip to the steel the arc would just go out. I thought maybe it was a crappy rod that came with it so I bought some 7018 and they wouldn’t even do an art at all. I tried crank up the amperage. I even went as high as it would go and it still wouldn’t work. At least in the higher amperage the small electrodes worked kind of, but it was really really crappy. So I’m returning it. As soon as I got home, I cranked up my little welder that looks like this one does and was able to lay down some really nice welds with no problem at all. Even 1/8 inch 7018 rods burned like, just fine. The only good thing is that it worked well enough for me to tack some stuff together so that my trailer didn’t fall apart by the time I got home. The sad thing is, my welder cost less than 100 bucks also but it’s a rockin’ welder and this one’s just a rock. Maybe I just got a dud because some of the reviews are good but for just a few more dollars you can get the 10 foot cables and the 220 adapter. Oh, if you do get this buy some kind of mask also because the one that comes with it is not even good enough to put together. It’s just literally a piece of junk mask. I just bought some auto darkening glasses for $10 and it didn’t protect my face, but it was good enough for what I needed. This mask won’t even hold the lens in it or anything.
