Scooter runs great and is well built. I previously purchased a less expensive one for my 9 y.o. daughter and you get what you pay for, so I replaced it. This was the best one I could find in her size based on advertised speed and battery life. I have been very pleased with it. I wish it had a headlight and tail light for better visibility like some of the competitors, and the lights underneath are pretty useless in daylight. But otherwise it has run perfectly with top speed of about 11 mph (my adult one has speedometer) and is very quiet. ... show more

My 11 and 9 yo love these!! Easy to use, sturdy, good battery life, stable. So much fun. I want one too!! Very well made. Wish the directions mentioned activation (you can scan a qr code on the scooter to learn how to activate), but other than that 10/10.

I bought my son this electric scooter for his birthday! He was so happy and excited because has been wanting one for a while now! He definitely loves this scooter he can use for hours! Also so convenient for him to keep him playing out doors! I would definitely recommend this electric scooter!

    • User Friendly, Easy Assembly, Durable - but has Quality Control Issues
I ordered two ninebot series 8 scooters for each of my kids (blue and pink). They haven’t been put to the test yet since they’re Christmas presents; so this review will only discuss assembly, design, and issues with quality control. Design wise, the scooter is quite user friendly for younger kids. There is a charging port, power button and power / mode LED indicators. The power button is also used to select between Safety, Cruise and Turbo modes. It has three braking methods (auto, lever and rear foot brake). Assembly wise, Segway did well. You simply insert the handlebar stem and tighten two Allen screws using the included Allen wrench. The handlebar stem and clamp are grooved / “keyed” to ensure proper assembly and keep everything fixed in place. The one problem area: brake cables must be pulled tight to insert or remove the handlebar stem, which forces unnecessary strain on them. An extra 2-3 inches cable length would’ve been much better. Quality Control is by biggest issue: the blue scooter arrived in flawless condition; however, out of the package, the pink scooter had surface rust and one small area where the paint has been scratched, exposing bare metal (see photos). This is evidence that there is not enough paint applied and more importantly: it doesn’t protect against rust! Living in Texas, I’m not too concerned about the surface rust, but coastal areas likely feel differently. Seaway is a reputable manufacturer, and all things considered, my kids will be thrilled with their gifts. Im impressed with the easy of assembly and use - and durability of materials. If Seaway had applied a better quality paint that protects against rust, they would’ve had a near-perfect product. ... show more

Our neighborhood has lots of bigger kids with electric scooters. I think they might be a little faster, but the kids are closer to being teens. My 8 year old wanted a scooter to ride with the kids and this one is perfect for her age!

    • Great while it lasted
Review after a year... TLDR: doesn't last a year and poor customer service... This was purchased for my 10 year old son for Christmas 2023. We ordered it Thanksgiving week and received it shortly after. It was a good scooter for the first 9 months. Battery life was ok, speed was right for a 10 year old. Unfortunately, at the nine month point, it would lose power and start beeping intermittently. After a few weeks of that, I decided to submit a warranty claim at the beginning of November. They verified the issue over the phone (they could hear the beeping) and sent a shipping label. We shipped it off and waited. Weeks later we received the scooter back in trashed box with no padding whatsoever. To add to our surprise the issue was not fixed. I called the support line and was told the water indicators had been activated. We live in Florida, it is humid all the time and it rains. We keep a tight leash on when our son is allowed to ride, and he has not ridden in the rain or gone through any large puddles. At most he has ridden when the road is still damp. Bottom line, they refused to fix under warranty. While not happy with that, I went to order the parts from Segway's official shop so he would have something to ride. I found all the parts I needed and placed an order for $65 on 19 November 2023. As of today, 9 Jan 2024, my credit card has been charged but the parts have not shipped. I have called three times about the order with no success. The representative has verified the parts are in stock, yet they still will not ship the parts. They ask if I would like to cancel the order, as if that would do any good. Each time they have sent a message to the "warehouse" to get the order shipped. In each call, they also promised a follow-up email within 24 hours. I have yet to receive a single email from these interactions (yes, i checked my junk etc). If I cancelled the order, all I would have a $200+ intermittently working scooter. I would not recommend this scooter or this company for your business. Bottom line: If you live in a place where it is humid or it rains, do not purchase this scooter. If you expect the scooter to work more than 9 months, do not order this scooter. If you expect part orders to be fulfilled, do no order this scooter or from Segway. If you expect decent customer support, do not buy this scooter or do business with Segway. I am so disappointed with this experience, this is the first Amazon review I have ever written in an attempt to warn others away from this scooter and brand. ... show more

My 9 year old son received this for his birthday. It did not take him very long to get comfortable with how it worked. It handles very well and is durable.
