Easy enough to operate. Make sure to lift the cutter cradle and pull the bar under it in order to cut the bag from the roll; that wasn't made clear and if you don't do it the cutter can't slide over the bag. If you try to seal anything that produces juice, such as wet seafood like crab sections, the fluid creeps to the sealer heating element and messes up the seal. It either won't seal at all, or will seal with tiny areas that weren't sealed. This allows the vacuum to break, and the fluid can leak out. Discovered this after wasting ten bags trying to re-do it. If you must seal something that produces a little bit of fluid, you can try adding 4 inches from the food to the edge (make a longer bag), sometimes that can get you a clean seal. But if any fluid makes it to the sealer heating strip, forget it. But for sealing dryer things, it works really great.

I've used Food Savers in the past and they just don't seem to last. I returned the 3rd one I purchased because it stopped sealing in less than 30 days and decided I'd pay more for this one even without reviews. So far I am not disappointed. There are gentle suction and extended vacuuming along with a marinate cycle. I dud not purchase the canister vac, so can't comment on that. I garden so have lots of veggies to freeze including, of course, tomatoes and zucchini. Both are very water heavy. The food saver just can't handle these IMHO. The moisture tray is not deep enough or wide enough. I do like that the tray is removable...it is not on the Seatao, which is a downside. However the tray is a bit further back from the sealer and is deep and wide enough to roll up two half size sheets of Bounty and stuff in the tray. If you try this,do not cover the hole on the left side of the tray. You may also need to manual seal after the initial seal, but you can do it without reclosing the handle that you cannot do with the Food Saver. I LOVE the double seal. The seals around the lower and upper trays remove for easy cleaning. Downside is the lower tray does not. I purchased this unit just over a year ago in August 22. I don't use it all that often. But today completely stopped vacuuming. Supposedly there is a 5-year warranty on this as it is a commercial unit. I've sent you a message but I have no idea how you will respond through Amazon. So I'm posting this here. Please let me know what the next steps are.

This machine does a great job sealing, Especially love the Pulse and gentle button. So important when vacuuming soft things like bread, cookies etc. So worth the money. Easy to use.

This is my second Seatao vacuum sealer. My first Seatao sealer completely died after only 24 months of modest use so I'm giving it 1 star. I was satisfied with the performance of my first Seatao sealer until it just simply died, so I bought a second Seatao sealer and I will keep my fingers crossed it lives a long and functional life (my star rating on my second Seatao is pending and conditioned on its longevity). However, if my second Seatao sealer dies prematurely, it will be the last Seatao product I buy. Seatao, is there a lifetime warranty? If yes, then make good on your product.

I've only used this product once since I received it, but it seems to be much better than the one I'm replacing with it. I packaged some baked potatoes for freezing. Having a roll of bags stored in the unit made it very convenient to use. The cutter bar holds the bag in place for sealing the bottom of the bag and the bag easily rolls out to the desired length and makes a straight cut with no effort at all. The unit is about twice as thick as its replacement, so in order to easily seal a filled bag without excess length, I had to place something in front of the unit to reduce the angle between the bag contents and the suction chamber. A piece of 2x4 worked fine. This unit is a bit louder than the old one, but does a quicker, better job. I really like the positivity of using the handle to close the unit onto the bag, and the control buttons are easy to see and use. The sealed bags are completely air free, and I expect the food to be well protected in the freezer. At this point I would recommend this unit to any buyer as I don't anticipate any problems with this product.
