Sometime I am brutally honest and that it is only my opinion. my review on this starboosa rifle scope mount camera adapter - Smartphone camera adapter for hunting & birding - dual angles for sighting and aiming - all aluminum frame version part number ‎sb09jx is as followed. This phone – camera adapter is very well built and with patience can be lined up with your reticule with no issues. I can zoom in my phone camera in and record my shots and see where they are hitting my target. I have not tried to mount it to anything above my 22 caliber and so far. It has stayed in position after 100rounds. note this is how I mounted it, once I have it lined up I back the screws off a ½ turn and add one drop blue loctite than retighten you can use red but when you go to remove it is a lot harder to turn the thumb screws. they also make a starboosa rifle scope mount camera adapter - Smartphone camera adapter for hunting & birding - mount for eyepieces diameter of 38mm-46mm model sb384602, this mounts the camera in a total different position. Over all the reason I gave three stars I feel it is overpriced, yes it is less money than a scope with video capability built in. And the quality of the picture or movie you film is based on your phone camera. I am going to be changing it out to the scope on my r50 folding carbine that shoots 5.7x28mm if it holds up to that I am going to try on my Serbu bfg-50 I will update my review as I test it out. ... show more

You might see a few Starboosa versions of camera adapters. This is the one I'd recommend. I'd been curious about phone scoping, as I'd like the ability to record video while still being able to see through my optic. This allows me to do that. However, I was surprised by their choices. Some work, and some didn't. I've used a Celestron scope adapter that allows you to attach directly to the eyepiece, but it doesn't allow you to also use the scope. That one was precise in some ways (you could adjust the phone in 3 axes, in fine increments, to get the ideal picture) and not in others (just a clamp onto the eyepiece). This adapter by Starboosa is surprisingly low-fi by comparison, but I think it will work in stationary applications (and still needs to be tested under firing. First off: the mounting solutions. First half of mounting is getting it attached to your scope. It uses 3 set-screws; their length of travel determines the minimum eyepiece size this can attach to, while the diametre of the tube dictates the maximum. This felt solid enough; you can adjust them to help centre the picture onto the tube, but I didn't seem to have any issues that required me to. Being plastic screws, I can't imagine they will hold up to much abuse and over time I expect will have to be replaced from wearing out. Second half of mounting is attaching your phone to the mount itself. It pivots in two places: one is the ring where the arm attaches to the mount, and one is at the holder of the phone, sliding and rotating to allow you to position your camera correctly. Compared to the other Starboosa, I feel like this one holds it very firmly. I will update both these reviews once I've shot them, as many screws on firearms need to be threadlocked so that they don't shake loose over time. This one has essentially 6 threaded sections that can only be tighted to finger-tight, although technically the three plastic screws that hold the eyepiece could be tightened more with a screwdriver. ... show more

    • Seems fairly well made, but the screws let it down.
My unit arrived with a broken set screw and there are no spares. The set screws are nylon so they are not super sturdy. I still tried to use it and this really needs all 6 set screws to properly align the device. I guess that I could figure out the thread pitch and find a replacement nylon set screw…. Being that the set screw was broken from shipping, I wonder how well they would hold up to any amount of recoil. It’s too bad, this could have been a neat device. ... show more

I have recently tried a similar item on binoculars to try and film our hunts. However, as you can imagine it can be very hard to line up the right camera lens with the perfect spot and then hold it in to place. Especially when you are moving around trying to view things in the distance and especially if you are sitting in awkward positions. This one woks really well. Firstly it appears to be made of solid steal or aluminium, not plastic which helps it feel solid and without being too heavy. And it allows you to really lock the phone into place once you get it there so it doesn't move about. Once in place its is clear and you can easily record what you are seeing through the scope. It's made with a see through mirror much like a teleprompter so yes, you can look through the scope while the camera is connected. It obviously does make it a bit heavier so it might be only able to be used while sitting and shooting as opposed to walking around and hunting if thats your thing. It's a great way to record your hunt as they are usually special moments and if your are shooting 100 yards out, its usually difficult to get a good view on a regular phone. I have included a video to give you an idea of the quality. Keep in mind its a bit shaky because it wasn't on my gun. I was holding it by hand. On a gun It can be much more stable. ... show more
