I have bought 3 of these scooters (for myself and 2 kids) and used them for 9 months. I have also bought another product (Razor V6) and can provide a summary of my experiences and broader research on kick scooters for adults and children. <strong>Part 1: Broader introduction to kick scooters.</strong> This section summarizes my overall impression/experiences with different types of kick scooters on the market. Skip to Part 2 for details of the Skidee X3M Larger wheels mean faster/smoother rides. Polyurethane (plastic) wheels are faster and require less maintenance, and inflated tires are slower, smoother, and have more reliable traction on wet pavement. It is risky to use polyurethane wheels in wet conditions! Shocks make for a smoother ride, but actually wheel size is probably the most important thing still. There are two main drawbacks of having shocks on a scooter: (1) to allow the deck to bounce without scraping the ground, the deck height is set higher - it is more work (or better exercise) to use, especially at low speeds, and (2) shocks have moving parts, and moving parts can break (more on this in part 2). Brakes matter. Polyurethane wheels do not get very good traction on a metal brake - kick scooter brakes will help you slow down, they are not for stopping on command. When you break, it dumps a lot of heat into the break - a heavy break will help dissipate that heat so you don't melt your shoes. There are many different kick scooters on the market that all look very similar. I suspect (but do not know) that they are all basically relying on the same set of manufacturers for key components, and the rest is branding. You will probably get more responsive customer service from established brands, but the customer service from Skidee was ultimately very good (see part 2 for more). <strong>Part 2: Specific review of the Skidee X3M.<\strong> This section summarizes specific details/experiences with Skidee and the X3M scooter in particular. We have three X3M scooters, two for kids ages 6+ and one for an adult (180lb). The scooter is too big for ages 5 and below in my opinion. We have used the scooters for 9 months, and in that time they have probably seen around 300 miles of riding. The wheels are in good condition - rear wheels show more wear, possibly due to breaking? One of the scooters (ridden by a 180lb adult) showed significantly more wear. The shocks were sagging, it squeaked when riding, and ultimately the bolt in the front shock snapped. Skidee was not able to send/sell a replacement front shock assembly, but since it was still within the warranty period they did send a replacement scooter. Customer service was very delayed in their response (it took a week or two to hear back) but ultimately they wanted to make good on the issue. All of our scooters were purchased from the "used" option at a significant discount - I think that these were returned items, resold by Skidee. Keep this in mind when we describe problems/difficulties. Two of the scooters had problems with the handlebars - I had to use a hammer claw to prop the handle bar holder open for assembly. In another instance, there was a raised set screw obstructing the handlebar from insertion - these are easily fixed, not really a big deal in my opinion if you are considering the "used" option. My kids were able to ride these scooters from about age 6 for the 1.3 mile ride to/from school. However, for age 6 in hindsight I would generally recommend a scooter with a lower deck height (no shocks). ... show more

My kids, now 5 and 8, have loved riding their scooters for years. I used to walk along, but now I can ride along! I don’t yet want them on electric scooters so I also don’t want one for myself (‘cause that would just make them jealous). This adult sized scooter assembled in minutes out of the box (unfold and get handles in place, I don’t think it required any tools), and I was able to start riding right away. It’s very easy to use, and I’m not very coordinated (though I do regularly ride a bike, maybe that helped with balance and comfort with being on wheels). This thing is tiring to use on uphill, but super fun overall. My kids love that I ride with them. Often we go to cul de sacs or other big open spaces and I don’t ride constantly, but join in part of the time. Lots of fun, and color (purple) looks great. Cost about as much as many kid scooters and I definitely feel I got my money’s worth. Owned for about a month now, used maybe a dozen or so times! ... show more

Ok 1st off I didn't get this scooter on any terms other then a gift for my nephew..The box is very beautiful (eye candy) and the scooter itself is very solid and colorful..I got the one with graffiti all over it..You gotta do a few very easy things before u can ride it..Anyone can do it.its very simple.. Its got duel shocks.when I stepped on it it dropped like an inch so that tells u the shocks work great..my nephew freaked out when he opened the box.he LOVES it so much. ... show more

After many hours of research and comparison, I bought the SKIDEE X3M Foldable Scooter with 8 inch wheels and anti-shock for my tall son's 10th birthday gift. It fits him on both the lowest and second lowest (of 4) handlebar height settings. The Foldable Scooter has excellent handlebar grips, is well built, and folds and unfolds very well. We have rough (asphalt) sidewalks in our neighborhood, so the shock absorbers are a top priority. It's important to know that the scooter will sink down when you first step on it, so this takes some getting used to (especially if you've been riding a shockless scooter). However, once you're on the deck, it stays compressed and stable. Speaking of the deck, this scooter has a nice, large one that is 13 1/2" long by 5 3/8" wide. This is larger than most, and allows the rider to comfortably stand with both feet side by side when coasting. Also, the handlebar height adjustment range is excellent, allowing people to grow into this scooter (I'm 6', and it fit's me fine). The kickstand works well, too. The SKIDEE also has a great clamping system for the handlebars, the handlebar riser tube, and the folding hinge. After adjusting each of these clamps with the provided tool (making them pretty snug), there isn't any rattling. This stability is worth the slight increase in weight. I do recommend tightening all the fasteners before your first ride, and checking them periodically to see if any have become loose. The brake also appears thoughtfully designed. It is on the longer side, which covers the wheel better. It also includes a rear reflector. The scooter comes with a carry strap, and it has built-in loops to fasten this strap (rather than having to add on separate strap holders). SKIDEE offers a free scooter carry bag (offer information inside the box) if you send them a picture of someone riding the scooter posted on social media. too. The one possible drawback to the scooter's design is the handlebars are narrow, at 15 1/2" (many competitors are ~17"). This reduces the leverage a rider has turning the scooter, but it's not a deal-breaker. Overall, the build quality looks very good. The edges of some of the metal could be a wee bit more polished, yet this isn't a high-end bike so I wasn't expecting perfection. The reason I rated this scooter 4 stars (instead of 5) is because there are a few scratches on the black paint that shouldn't be there. The packaging appears to be designed to prevent this, yet somewhere in the process the scooter got scratched. It will be easy enough to touch it up, but it should have been pristine out of the box. Overall, I recommend the SKIDEE Foldable Scooter with 8 inch wheels and Anti-Shock Suspension. It offers the best balance of quality, adjustability, features and sizing for our needs that I could find. Finally, their website is the most useful of the manufactures and includes direct links to purchase spare parts when the time for that comes. ... show more

The scooter came quick! It's for for a teenager 5'7" and is tall enough. The second time taking it out a piece fell off the handles but just from the top and still works. Could be a little more sturdy but is overall a good scooter and we are happy with the purchase!
