    • Pretty decent affordable cruiser bike

I bought this bike because I wanted something to ride around my community with my kids or commute the short distance to work. I already have a Specialized road bike but wanted something more casual and comfy and capable of light off road for dirt and gravel trails. First the good stuff. This bike looks really nice, good lines, nice matte black paint job, moderately fat tires. The riding position is upright with the curved handlebars and the saddle is wide and has springs. It's pretty low fatigue to tool around on and I can do an hour or more on it with minimal discomfort. The 7 speed grip shift is pretty simple although it's a little high effort to twist and the gears seem to range from "not quite granny gear but ok for modest hills" to "faster than you'd expect for a bike like this". No problem riding streets and trails or over bumps, small curbs, tree roots etc. It's not a mountain bike but is perfectly fine for the boardwalks and unpaved trails where I live. Front and rear pull brakes like a real bike, fenders are nice if you ride in the rain or through puddles (a real concern when I was commuting). Now the not so good. This bike is super heavy. It feels sturdy but man, it's like double the weight of my road bike. You won't want to carry it anywhere and you'll feel it if you want to ride faster than 5-7 mph. Build quality is just ok. My brakes squeal, the seat springs are noisy, the seat doesn't have a quick release so it's a PITA to adjust. Assembly was relatively straightforward if you have the tools but adjusting the brakes and derailleurs properly to get good stops and shifts through all the gears is tricky. You may have to put some real force into tightening the handlebars and seat post so they won't move. The tires are smaller diameter and fatter than a hybrid bike so you'll have to work harder to go far and fast. The fenders can get out of whack if you bump them so the tire will rub. I also get a weird rhythmic clacking on certain gears and the bike is noisy when coasting. Overall if you want a good looking cruiser that's easy to ride and will handle most terrain without breaking the bank, this Huron is pretty good. If your budget is bigger, you can probably get something higher quality that's a little lighter, smoother, and with better parts. Also you may want to look into a hybrid or mountain bike instead if you're going to do minimal/mostly off road. I would definitely not buy this bike if you live on the 5th floor of an apartment and have to carry it up and down the steps because of the weight. For a simple relaxed ride that can go almost anywhere though, this bike should be plenty. ... show more

Fender smashed against the tire. I'm guessing other damage too but didn't even take the time to look. Took it out of the box and right back in the box after seeing that! Box was not damaged at all. So it came this way from the company? Thought I would still take the chance after seeing some bad comments... should have listened. I guess Schwinn now means junk. Never again! ... show more

I love this bike, I am 6’4” and it fits me fine after adjusting the handle bars a little, I love the fact that it has different gears also, since there are hills in my neighborhood, i look forward to our family bike rides now

Wanted a simple, low maintenance bike just for basic exercise and recreation. Haven't owned a bike in 35 years. This bike went together so fast and easy! Pedals, Seat, Handlebar (already attached to post and grips already on!), Front Wheel and Fender. Added air to tires. First test ride was smooth and effortless. Well made bicycle! Single Speed Coaster Brake is all I wanted for now. May upgrade to a 3-Speed or 5-Speed in a couple of years, but for now this is Perfect! ... show more

The handlebars were severely scratched when received. The front brake assembly was so tight that when I was connection the front wheel the brake assembly actually broke. One trip to the bike shop and $89.00 later, I have a nice bike.

Box arrived perfect condition. Packaged well. Quality better than expected for a bicycle in this price range. Smooth chrome mirror finish on wide bars. Fenders are sturdy when installed and sit just right all around the tire. I’m 6’1”; handlebars are high enough but the seat post is too short for my height. I’ve ordered a taller lay back seat post which should fix that limitation. The ride on 2.1” tires is very comfortable on uneven sidewalk and paths. The seat looks nice.
