Works very well out of box , but have a bike shop do final ajustments and test ride, its well worth it. Have 2 other ebikes currently from R.E.I and Raleigh ,but been ebike riding since 2010. Have one mid drive and other rear drive like this one, but like the Throttle and ride feel on this Coston CE Schwinn is much better. Very well built. Size chart maybe wrong got the small-medium just fits, I'm 6 foot/ 31" inseam guy so you may need a extra small for extra room. Can go about 25-30 miles on a charge( has a 8 amp hrs battery which is smaller than some) with a 240 lbs guy on it, you might get more or less. Color is Awesome in metalic Red and feels sturdy. I'm a retired Bike Mechanic, and this Schwinn Coston CE with front shock under $ 1000.00, rides much better than my $ 2200.00 R.E.I City 2.2 mid drive with 700c 45mm tires. The 2.6" Wide tires are very nice on gravel/street and love the hi quality all metal but quiet fenders Faster than I thought with 27.5 x 2.6 ( almost fat tires). Overall, a Great quailty in town/trail or Commuter with up to 20 mph speed really AND Throttle. Get the extended battery ( about 400.00 or less) if traveling more than 25 mile round trip, but charges pretty fast. Great Job Schwinn . paid under 1k at Amazon and worth every penny, compared to over 20 ebikes I've tested and rented since working for a bike shop, here in The Bay Area for Over 6 years. I have owned many bikes and my wife and I decided to try the e-bike thing. The pricing on the bike caught our attention and felt like it was a good starter e-bike. It was a very bad buy. You never feel any resistance in pedaling like you are contributing to the ride. When you crank that crank it just goes, fast. If you want to cruise around the neighborhood you will be doing it at about 13 to 15 mph. After you purchase many upgrades including a battery for longer range you will realize you should have paid a little more to get a whole lot more. Returning them was a nightmare as I dragged them to UPS station but they would not take them because of the battery. My wife had to take a day off for a shipping company to come pick them up. I appreciate Amazon backing their return policy. We moved in haste on this because of the great price, but after returning did our homework and got what we were really looking for (pictured). ... show more

This bike is Amazing! I recently had a job change where riding a bike would be more convenient than driving to work. After some research and considering several different options, I decided on the matte charcoal Schwinn Coston e-bike. This bike has not disappointed. Bike shipped super fast. There were a couple of spots on the box that were damaged, but the bike was double boxed and in perfect condition when opened. The bike was 3/4 of the way assembled. The remainder of the assembly was very straight forward and easy due to the very clear step by step directions in the owner's manual and supplied tools. Once assembled, the bike took about 4 hours for the initial battery charge. I was a little worried about which size to purchase. I am a 5'9 male and purchased the L/XL size according to the size chat, and the size chart is right on. I've ridden heavy single speed cruiser bikes for a while and was excited to see how much the electric assist would help. The bike did NOT disappoint. The e-bike handlebar display and key pad are straight foward and easy to use. My 1st ride was a 4 mile ride around town, and it was awesome. Even with just the electric assist on the "1" setting, hills were effortless. I can honestly say this was one of the most enjoyable bike rides I've had in years. I was also curious how the electric assist would work while braking or just coasting. I was pleasantly surprised how responsive the brakes are and also how the electric assist stops when you are braking. 1st ride was great, but I purchased this bike to be a commuter bike for every day. Again, I am very happy with this purchase. I can get to my new job in the same amount of time or less than if I was driving to work. The 5 different electric assist levels make it easy to accelerate from stop signs and reach a great cruising speed in no time. It's very well built, sturdy, and a very comfortable ride. I initially bought this bike to use on nice days to commute around town seeing that traffic is insane in my area. Upon opening rhe box getting everything unwrapped and 3/4 assembled I noticed the screen for the pedal assist wasn't working and looked like something heavy had been dropped on the screen. After contacting Amazon about the issue, they determined it wasn't something they could trouble shoot, so I was sent a new bike. Upon delivery of the replacement bike, I unboxed the bike only to find the SAME ISSUE! No amount of charging and letting it sit would clear the screen. Unfortunately, sfter scouring the internet, it does not appear that the part is replaceable save for sending the entire bike to Schwinn to be repaired. Side from that, the bike is big. I ordered the smaller frame and its like a beach cruiser with fat tires and a very heavy frame. Although its a bice looking bike, lifting it to get it on a bike rack could very well require 2 people. I'm disappointed because Schwinn is a great company, but this bike model has come up short in my opinion. ... show more
