Upgraded from ix500 to this scanner. Never ever had a problem with my ix500 at all! Seriously never! So when the ix500 was no longer supported it was time to upgrade especially since I was getting a new iMac. Setup was soooooo easy! Just got the ScanSnap iX2500. Set it up wirelessly - used my ipad to scan QR code to connect it to ipad and download firmware update. I did not do any scans, because I wanted to connect my Windows 11 laptop - had to go to snapscan.com/d website to download installation software and then updates on my Windows 11 laptop - also tried to register - not sure if it worked because it hung half way through Finally the scanner and Windows 11 laptop connected and scan went great - but where did it go - then I realized the default place for the document scanned was a folder buried deep - went to settings a figured out how to get it to go to a default folder. Scan was fast and pretty impressive. Setup is really tough - I wish Scansnap would have a pdf for the whole manual rather than on-screen pages. I would consider myself fairly knowledgeable about networks and installing new devices. This one was very tough, although I did it in about 2 hours. That's why I gave it 4 stars, not 5 stars. Works great once you get it configured. I would not suggest a novice try to install this scanner - get a knowledgeable person or geek squad type person. ... show more

I rarely write reviews but this device is amazing! Minimal set up time, connects beautifully to my MacBook Pro, fast scanning, and clear (if not better) than the actual paper. I expect to digitize all paper in my home office with little effort based on the 100’s of documents I scanned in a very short amount of time already. Worth. Every. Penny. Got it on a deal too which feels like a steal for what it is doing to get rid of all the paper in my house easily. No problems with connecting or stating connected, and can even send it to my iPhone.     • Hard to set up - bad app - no proper guide - but works well at the goal

Editing a prior review... This was very difficult to get working - as they insisted on using a silly app and using WiFi and the instructions provided no help on plugging it into my Mac directly. (There was no USB-C to USB-C cable either.) The WiFi was unnecessary - and having to know a WiFi password was the problem. I think all of us are overwhelmed by passwords. For sure, directly wiring it to a laptop should be the first option; I'm angry at the deception of trying to be forced to use WiFi. Failed and put it in a closet for five days until I tried again, just plugging in a cable and seeing what happened. That was frustrating. There was no proper manual. All my frustration could have been avoided with a proper manual. Once I got it going, it proved as wonderful and the previous model it replaced. (But that's also a scam - they won't make a driver for a 2020s Mac, so I had to spend another $400+, when I'm sure the prior one, bought in 2010, still works fine. It's very fast. It does a great job of turning a stack of paper into a PDF pretty quickly. The results are great. Image quality is great. The cons, setup and manual aside:: 1. Like its predecessor, it plays games with "overlapped document" from time to time. 2. The app it installs will not let me make the window size reasonable. It insists on a window that's far too wide to comprehend and disallows existence side-by-side with other windows on the mail laptop screen. Has a lot of potential and has done well for me, but has a fw inexcusable flaws. ... show more
