  • Great Package and Quality Deal
Color: Black Pickguard with Gold Graphic
I use to play back in my Marine Corps days with a small church group. Never was great at it, but I liked playing. I have been wanting to jump back in (decades later) and was looking around for a nice "intro" guitar package. I'm, by far, not an audiophile type, so review is just from my opinion. I won't say "for the price this is a good deal", I think the package offered is really great, it has all the basics one could ask for in starting to play. The Guitar itself looks to be of really good craftsmanship, the bag is a lot better than I had back in the day, tuner, strap, picks, and free online guitar lesson (I've not checked that out yet). I picked up the Guitar for Dummies, just because I wanted to learn more about guitar theory etc, instead of just playing chords, tuned up the guitar within minutes and sound is really good, other than my own soft fingers having issues finding the chords again. Overall, it's a good quality, full sized guitar, can't go wrong with this if you're wavering between some different options. ... show more

  • I was skeptical that it was going to be as good as it is
Color: Black Pickguard with Gold Graphic
I have to admit.. for the price of this guitar, I was skeptical that it was going to be as good as it is! This guitar is absolutely beautiful, and the sound is amazing! The action is perfect and I couldn't be happier. All the items that were noted, came with the guitar and it arrived on time and in a well packaged box. I definitely recommend this Sawtooth guitar to anyone looking for a great beginner instrument or even as a second guitar to jam with. I've been playing over 30 years and own many guitars that are HIGH quality and that were expensive, but this guitar is as good as any higher priced brand guitar. A great well built guitar for an amazing price. ... show more

  • I'd buy it again
Color: Black Pickguard
My son loves this! Came fast and was packaged multiple times for protection. Very please I'm giving it a 3 star because it didnt come with the picks or online lesson book...I did get an allen wrench though (havent figured out what to do with it yet) the case is very thin and awkward to put on as well but still serves it purpose. Maybe want a more durable one if you are planning on traveling with it. The guitar its self is awesome and the stand and accessories are handy!!!! I dont yet know much about guitars but my nephew was pretty excited to teach my son to play on this and said it was "pretty sweet for the price" ... show more

  • Sawtooth ST ADN D
Color: Black Pickguard with Gold Graphic
I had researched a number of guitars and starter kits, looking for the best value on a solid spruce top, full size guitar that had a standard rosewood fret board and quality chrome plated tuners. As stated in many reviews on this guitar and others, the action is not going to be set on a new guitar at this price. In fact, the action was set to the lowest point from the factory, causing vibration on the frets. This is to be expected but can be corrected with the allen tool included in the starter kit. I was able to adjust the set screw to raise the action just enough to stop the vibration the set screw is just inside the guitar at the base of the neck. Tune the guitar first by clipping on the tuner to the top of the neck. You will need to install the battery, power on the tuner and then press the power button until you see the "C" character on it's screen. It will help you to get the "E" note sound on the Internet to set the first (thickest) string and subsequent strings. The tuner works great to fine tune and shows the note in green when in tune. Strum the guitar a few times to see if your action is too low and vibrates on the frets. It is recommended to have an experienced player or pro shop set your action if you are not comfortable with the process. The strap that is included is functional but not fancy and the same could be said for the carry case. The stand assembles easily and works well. I had an experienced guitar player check the action and inspect the tuners, play the guitar and comment on the quality and price. He commented that the tuners were very good, tight not loose and would hold the tune well. That has held true. The strings are bright and sound good. Light action replacements are very affordable. There is a high gloss finish on the guitar and the mahogany back and solid spruce top look outstanding. He rated this well beyond a beginner guitar and the price under $100 was a bargain. This guitar was designed in the US but made in China to be offered at a low price. ... show more

  • Sounds fine. Disappointing damage/flaws.
Color: Black Pickguard with Gold Graphic
Numerous cosmetic flaws, including z large chip in the finish. Chip is where your right arm rests when you play so it is both ugly and irritating to the skin on your bare forearm. Looks like it was caused by the guitar hitting something. Case is basically just a nylon bag with a handle. Offers no protection and I would probably not use it because of that. Unlike other gig bags I have, has no padding whatsoever. Strap is cheap but works. Strings are low profile so it's easy on the fingers but does result in occasional rattling of string when it buzzes against the fretboard. Tunes well enough and sounds fine. Guitar stand is solid. I paid $15 for the same model for one of my other guitars. Haven't tested the tuner as I have another. I bought for $120 on Black Friday. I thought I was purchasing for $89, looks like I got caught by the Amazon Lightning deal interface where you might accidentally pay the wrong price if you don't pay extremely close attention. If there weren't the cosmetic flaws I would give a 4-5 at the $120 price, and a definite 5 at $89. ... show more
