Description

2017 D-28 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Natural. Sometimes innovation is in the details and this is certainly true with Martin’s re-imagined 2017 D-28. After nearly a century at the helm, and as the quintessential workhorse of music legends like Hank Williams, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and so many more, Martin's legendary D-28 has been lovingly and artfully enhanced. “The post WWII D-28 had a slightly different look than its predecessor and became the centerpiece of the folk and folk rock movements at their pinnacle in the 1950s and 1960s." says Chris Martin, Chairman and CEO of Martin Guitar, "We have extracted the finest features from the D-28 of both my grandfather’s and my father’s respective eras.” The 2017 D-28 blends the rich history of the guitar with Martin’s newest and most heralded innovations. The 184-year-old guitar maker has combined vintage appointments, including open gear tuners, an aged toner top, antique white accents, and a faux tortoise pickguard with a special neck profile to give D-28 enthusiasts a modern feel and comfortable playing experience. Martin has also added forward-shifted bracing to allow greater vibration of the top.

  • Holy Moly this thing is awesome
I don't know what to say about this guitar. It is AMAZING. Very easy to play, very smooth, sounds amazing and it is the gold standard of acoustic guitars. Very beautiful but simple/plain/vanilla. I don't know what I can compare this guitar to. It is like you order an expensive Creme Brulé that is just simple and plain. But you can tell that the best ingredients were used. The best cooks have worked on it. The best cream, eggs, vanilla etc. were used. Everyone can make one but the one you have is the best in its simple goodness. And it has no gimmicks, no fancy gaudy thing that subtracts from its simple greatness. I've played a lot of guitars over the past 20 years and this one is just the best by far. You can really tell that Martin has tweaked in their design for the past 100-200yrs and they have something here that is a cut above for sure. Very impressed. Can't say enough how happy I am with this thing. It is amazing and I'm glad I was able to afford one. Also, Chicago music is great. It came clean and ready to play. Very happy here. ... show more

  • Simply Awesome
My husband rarely asks for anything. His birthday was coming up in March and of course I said "what do you want for your birthday?" His normal reply is "world peace". This time he said "a D28 guitar". Considering he has seven guitars and can actually play, I said OK. Four of those seven are very nice guitars, while two are OK and one is just a $100.00 "cheesy guitar", as he says. The D28 is not his most expensive guitar, but it might beat all of them in sound. Fortunately we had received an income tax refund and I was thrilled to be able to get him something I knew he wanted. He plays it constantly and the sound is so beautiful. If you have a loved one who plays guitar I highly recommend this guitar. If they are starting out go for something less expensive. Even the case is nice. ... show more

  • 2017 model D-28 review
I had not played this instrument prior to ordering, when I first held the 2017 model D-28, I noticed the fretboard is giant like a sitar, the strings spread wide apart- unexpected but amazing. Everything feels and sounds precise with instant response. The tones are unimaginable . It even smells like a brand new Cadillac. Compared to a Stradivarius violin or Steinway piano these a steal ... show more
