  • GREAT GUITAR!
This past summer I worked at a bible camp and decided early on that I wanted to learn to play guitar. The problem was that I didn’t have a guitar. I asked some of my close camp friends, who play guitar, about guitars to get an idea of what I should get. I wanted something comfortable, durable, high quality sound and didn’t hurt my fingers while learning to play. My friend suggest I consider the Martin or Taylor brand which are the highest brand of acoustic guitars in the market. What I’ve learned since purchasing my Baby Taylor is that it’s hard to find an acoustic guitar with all the traits I listed above that you won’t have to spend a good amount of money on. Here’s why I think it’s completely worth it to purchase my specific model and brand. For the past 8 months, I have own the Baby Taylor 2 which is the smallest size of the model for this brand. It is 10 lbs., is 16 x 38 x 7 inches and is right-handed by my preference. This specific guitar is targeted for beginners, but if it’s just sitting around; it can also be played by anyone just for fun. With the Baby Taylor being so light, it’s very comfortable for my five foot four-inch stature. I had to buy the strap separately but because of its hand-crafted smoothness and Mahoney wood; it’s an unbeatable comfortability. Another great thing about it being so light is that it’s incredibly easy to travel with. At points during camp, we had to squeeze three individuals and all our luggage in one small car and due to my guitar’s smallness; it comfortability sat in my lap. The real winner for me was the quality of sound that comes out of my guitar. It’s an unbeatable and unspeakable sound. That’s what sold it most for me and why spending $329 for this guitar was completely worth it. It’s in excellent condition, handles well and has never failed to project an incredible sound in front of up to 70 people. Part of what creates such a beautiful sound is its unique design and use of real nylon strings. That also helps your hands not hurt when playing because the strings are so soft. I would recommend this product to any individual, especially beginners looking for a good starter guitar. I am a very satisfied costumer and look forward to shopping only the Taylor brand when it comes to anything guitar based. If this doesn’t convince you, then I’d suggest finding one and playing one note on it. It’s a magical experience and I have yet to meet an individual who doesn’t fall in love with it after that point. ... show more

  • Little Guitar, Big Sound
I’ve had my Baby Taylor for about three months now, and have played it for countless hours. To start off, this guitar is not supposed to match full bodied guitars; it is a travel guitar and while it can keep up with full sized guitars, it definitely does not produce the same sound and tone. For the ¾ size, this little guitar puts out a ton of volume, enough to keep up in an acoustic jam session, and is compact enough to take most anywhere. First Impressions: Upon opening my package, I was nervous as part of the packaging was wet to the touch, but after I pulled everything out, the Taylor box was dry and the soft travel case added another layer of protection. The guitar itself was beautiful, two bookmatched pieces of mahogany for the top, sapele laminate sides, neck and back. The ebony fretboard is smooth and the frets were polished with no rough spots on the sides. The satin finish was done well and looks very natural. The color of the mahogany is much darker than what shows in the pictures, which I liked more, as it looks rather orange in most pictures. The build quality of the guitar is stunning and I would expect nothing less from Taylor. Volume: This is a loud little guitar. When picking the guitar, it rings out of the body just like a full size would. You would have no problem keeping up with other acoustic players. Fingerstyle playing tends to be a bit quieter, given the denser wood and smaller body, but still very audible. If you pluck a little harder, you can get some great volume. Tone: Tone is the only place where I had any grievances. While volume is definitely present, the tone was quite inconsistent out of the box. Open chords sounded very muddy, higher barre chords were much clearer, while scales/soloing has the most clarity in tone. While the tone can be muddy in some spots, the brightness tends to make up for it and gives it a wonderful balance of volume, tone and brightness. Taylor also did a great job of ensuring that this mini didn’t sound tinny like some other mini acoustics. Conclusion and Recommendations: While the Baby Taylor has it’s shortcomings, they can easily be overlooked for it’s numerous good qualities. This guitar would be great if you’re a beginner, given it’s smaller size and lighter tension on strings. The Baby Taylor will even work if you’re a gigging musician that is looking for something small that you can sling around. With incredible volume, perfect fit and finish and exceptional tones, I think this guitar would be a lovely addition to anyone’s collection or a good start to one. Pros: Taylor build quality Taylor warranty Smooth frets Loud Small package Cons: Muddy mid and bass tones ... show more

  • Great sound
It is a really good guitar. I have a very small body frame, so the size was perfect for me. I’m 5’2 for reference. The sound is very good as well.

  • Arrived set up, very nice.
Out of the box it came set up nicely. I bought for my granddaughter. I had bought her a 3/4 fender previously, but I wasnt happy with it. It had difficult action and sounded like a toy. The BT2 came ready to play and sounded much better. She is much more likely to take to the guitar with the BT2. At 8 years old I dont think she could have a better guitar to learn with. ... show more
