  • A whole lot of bang for the buck!
Style: Guitar Color: Natural
I decided to purchase the Fender CD60SCE-12 when I saw it was on sale. The guitar was packaged well and arrived in pristine condition. Solid spruce top and looks great. Tuners are smooth. Once tuned up, this guitar sings! Really nice tone. The set-up out of the bow is excellent. The neck is very comfortable and really helps playability. Been playing for about 56 years off and on. This is my first 12 string. It has shown me that a 12 string requires you to be more precise in your fingering and picking, but your efforts will be rewarded! ... show more

  • Great guitar.
Style: CD-60 Color: Black
Box was slightly damaged during shipping, but the hard case and the guitar itself were safe and in perfect condition inside. For the price, this is a fantastic guitar. It sounds great, and feels nice. The action was in a good spot on arrival, and it tuned up nicely. I went for the black version, and I love it. Very glossy, piano black. My only complaint is the sticker on the pick guard. I've seen it mentioned in other reviews, but please stop putting stickers on things that you know the end user is going to remove. A note in the box would be more than sufficient. None the less, after a couple minutes picking at it I finally got most of the sticker off. UPDATING: For me, there was a thin plastic layer on the pick guard. I don't know if it's intended to come off or not, but I peeled it off, and it looks significantly better than it did with some of the adhesive left behind. I'll update this review if anything significant changes over it's lifespan! ... show more

  • Very good guitar for the money
Style: Guitar Color: Natural
To start, I play guitar because I like it, not because I am good at it. At the tender age of 63 I have a little over a year on stringed instruments and started with a bass, tried a six string and loved it, and I’ve had a yen for trying out a twelve for fun. I’d been playing twelves at local shops but I wasn’t ready to drop $500 on a sometimes instrument. As I was perusing the Amazon site I saw that this Fender was only $210, reduced from its usual $299. After a few hours of consideration I hit the button. I have had five Fenders and am a fan of their acoustics as they are good instruments for the price, and look cool. It arrived two days later in its original box. On opening it I saw that it was in pristine condition. I removed the plastic and strummed and it sounded awful. Quick research on the web told me that often twelve strings are detuned before shipping, especially if there is air travel involved. It took awhile, but I finally got it in tune after I realized how. Tune the top two in unison, the next two in unison, then tune the remaining thick strings to a normal tune. The thin strings go an octave higher. If you don’t know (and I didn’t) just keep tuning up until you hit the next E, A, D, and G. Once it was in tune it sounded good. It has held a tune fairly well since. By good I mean that it sounds good for a $300 guitar and will never hit the sounds of a top end twelve, but it is good enough for my playing abilities. Hotel California sounds amazing on it. The sound is a bit high pitched, but that can easily be solved with different strings. Plugged in it sounded nice and still retained that nice acoustic sound. Overall, I would buy this guitar again. It’s a good entry level twelve and will probably satisfy my needs for some time. It also looks good hanging on that wall. On a side note, the 9 volt battery that came with it died in a day, easily replaced. Update- The more I play this instrument, the more I like it. My son in law was over and he liked it so much he ordered one. Grab one before the price goes back up again. ... show more

  • really good shape.. no scratches… quick tune and off to the races.
Style: Guitar Color: Natural
It came in a box.. but was in really good shape.. no scratches… quick tune and off to the races. Played well.. strings are on the cheap side, light gauge..but on a 12.. that’s likely a good thing.. play a bit to get it broken in and then I’ll change to better strings.. …. Sounds good anyway.. like a 12 string .... no buzz. The neck was positioned well and decent action.. .. not a lot of depth on the low end.. it with a set of strings an octave up.. I wouldn’t really expect that.. still I thing a better set of strings will help take the Tin out.. ... show more

  • Much like the other reviews this is a first guitar for me and is working well for that purpose
Style: CD-60 Color: Natural
I've always wanted to learn to play the guitar. One of my biggest stumbling blocks is time to learnand the cost of a guitar. I made the decision that 15 minutes a day practicing asking with a 30 minute class per week wasn't that much of a stretch and with this guitar cost on Amazon was the deciding factors. I purchased the guitar and received it in good time packaged well. After tuning it using the Fender tuning app I was all set. I have tried the Fender website for the free 30 day trial that I found was actually 15 days to be of no value for me. Instead I purchased a book called the Skeptical Guitarist volume 1, recommended by my guitar teacher. I've also tried YouTube but those videos have been little too no help as they go to fast and/or I'm too slow of a learner. The strings are metal and as such are hard to play at the beginning as I had no calluses at the time. That has since resolved and I'm slowly working to playing the guitar albeit slowly. The sounds that come from the guitar when I'm playing it correctly are good, the construction of the instrument is awesome. I look forward to becoming more proficient very soon. ... show more

  • Daughter's first guitar
Style: CD-60 Color: Black
Bought for my teenage daughter. She loves it. I played it and it's got a nice resonating sound. I liked it a lot better than some of the other lower end guitars. Strings aren't the softest but perfect for a beginner to learn finger strength. Also wasy to change if you want to but definitely don't need to. I love that it comes with a hard case that she can take to school with her and keep the guitar from being beat up. She already tried to shut it in the car door once so hard case was definitely a plus for me. The first week it had a hard time staying in tune like all guitars but after tuning daily for a month it's holding it's tune really well. As a mom to a clumsy but talented teen I'd say definitely buy this one. ... show more
